Draft is over, new season. Howd your team do in the draft guys?

My Eagles jumped on Fletcher Cox as teams were passing him. And got some great value in LB Kendricks and DE Curry. Overall, I really like the draft. I just thought the 3rd round pick should have been used to create more OL depth. Especially since Peters' is gonna be down for a while, if not for good.

Repeat,

I know that you guys really needed LB and D line help last year. It looks like you got some. The Eagles will be a very interesting team to watch this year after last years underachievement.

Randy,
I heard on a couple of sports shows that our Steeler's picked up a couple of offensive linemen and a really good defensive nose tackle? What is your assessment of how Pitt did in the draft?

Val,

I honestly have never been more excited about a Steelers draft. Both our offensive line first two picks were among the top guys in the draft. DeCastro was by far the best guard, and some say the tackle Adams may end up better than Kalil who the Vikings took with the fourth selection.

As you know, our O line has been a joke the last five years. Only Bens ability to move and create plays got us those two SB appearances. Now with this draft and Pouncy and last years tackle Brown, we can go from maybe the worst line in the league to one of the best young lines in short order.

Also, we got a top nose tackle to replace fading, old Casey Hampton. We got the Darren Sproles clone Rainey. Also got some other guys who may end up real good.

NFL channel and ESPN loved our draft. So do I. Wish the season started today, lol.

I am completely out of the loop here with the draft. I have to read up on these guys and what they will bring to the table. Sounds like our Steeler's did what they always do in the draft and get solid players. Thanks for the update. Glad to see you're still holding down the fort here on LTB.

Terrell Suggs tears Achilles

Quote:
Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs tore his Achilles tendon and likely will miss the 2012 season, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Thursday.

One source told Schefter that Suggs suffered the injury playing basketball, but another source wasn't positive that Suggs tore his Achilles tendon that way.

Surgery is scheduled for next week, the sources said.

Suggs was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year after last season, in which he had 70 tackles, including 14 sacks, and was a threat all over the field from his hybrid linebacker-end position. He also forced seven fumbles and had two interceptions.

Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome told ESPN's Josina Anderson that the team found out about Suggs' injury earlier this week.

"We found out about it on Monday. He (Suggs) said he would be visiting with a specialist early next week," Newsome told ESPN.

Wow,

James. That is huge.

For Baltimore, and yes, my Steelers and the other AFC North playoff contender, Bengals. Though frankly it is great news for my team and others, I hate it. NEVER want to see a player get hurt. Never have, never will.

What is it about this year and the dreadful "ACHILLES" injuries in the sports world? Are the stars aligning? Is a huge meteor headed straight towards earth? Are the Greek Gods pissed off?
