@lakerobert.
come on dallas num1 thats not gonna happen this year. Dallas has got lamar but they lost 3 of their best players to free agency(butler, barea, chandler). I also can't believe you have clippers over memphis. Im guessing you didn't see the 1st round playoffs last year as long as they have zbo a gasol on the 4 and 5 there west favorites. Portland is not 7. Portland has the most underrated line up in the league rite now. So i say they finish 5th. So next time when you make a prediction how bout you watch the other games out their in the league and then their rosters and make a prediction. |

movalnum,
I profoundly apologize for aggravating you with my predictions. In fact I did watch the aforementioned games during last season's playoffs. Dallas did not lose 3 of their best players (maybe 1 *at best* in Chandler). They still have Finals MVP Nowitzki, J. Terry, J. Kidd, L. Odom and a deeeep bench). Butler was basically a non-factor for much of the 2010-2011 season so I'm rather perturbed why you even brought him up.
As for the Grizzlies, they will have a strong showing but with the loss of S. Battier they didn't get any better and will likely suffer a similar fate in the postseason.
Lastly, take it easy man. It's just my prediction. |

movalnum,
Also, I just realized that Lakers357 (who started this post) also has Clippers over Grizzlies while not even having Portland in the top 8. Funny you just mentioned me in your little tirade. Zbo and Gasol are great players but I'm sorry they are not Western Conference favorites. Get real. |

@lakerober
are you kidding me dallas has nowitzki, lamar, terry, kidd you honestly think those old mofos would win. For sure won't be num 1 in the west. In todays nba youth is one of the biggest factors a team needs and dallas does not have that. Their bench is no longer deep they let go r traded most their bench from last year to prepare for 2012 free agents. How can you say that zbo and gasol are not west favorites they dominated the spurs. I expect memphis to be even better and yea they loss battier but they still got tony allen. Who is a shut down defender. |

8. Orlando or 76ers

Do I honestly believe Dallas, "those old mofos" will win? What are we talking about here, the championship of the WC regular season leader? Both are possible, but I doubt the Mavs will repeat this year. They certainly beat the young and talented Heat in the finals, in case you missed watching those games...
Dallas did not actually did not trade most of their bench. Out of the players you cited earlier (T. Chandler, C. Butler, J. Barea) only one of those was part of their bench (J. Barea).
How can I say Zbo and Gasol aren't West Favorites? Hmmm... well last year they were the 8-seed with 46-36, so they have yet to convince me that they're WC "favorites." I'm having a hard time following your logic. First you say that the biggest factor nowadays is youth, and you cite how the Grizzlies beat the Spurs as proof of their superiority. The Spurs are one of the oldest teams (and happened to rank #1 in the WC last season).
For the last 5 seasons, an older, veteran team has won the championship (Spurs, Celtics, Lakers, Lakers, Mavericks). While the trend these days is switching to youth, speed combined with stacked all-star talent, I won't be convinced that older, veteran teams are inferior to said teams until a young team actually trumps an older one in the championship. |

Naw i didn't miss the nba finals i watched it like everyone else. The mavs won because they were the better team ok yea we all can agree with that but dallas had something miami did not and that was a productive bench. Also lebron and bosh were a no show in the 4th quarter of the series. Injuries also crippled miami with miller and haslem not 100%.
And i guess you don't watch nba tv are even sports center dallas got rid off a lot of their good bench players from last year. Barea out, Brewer out, peja retiring, the lost of Chandler and butler will also hurt their team. Your saying that dallas will win and I'm telling you they won't. GOT IT
Yea Spurs were ranked num1 last year but i guess you don't remember that they had one of the worst ending of a season in their history. The lakers came a game and a half from stealing the num1 spot from the spurs. Memphis is in the same situation okc was in. Memphis has the roster to compete in the west. (allen, Arthur, Conley, Gasol, Zbo, Gay, Mayo). Memphis wil give the rest of the top western conference teams a run for their money. So change your predictions and watch more nba games so you can come and talk to US fans who really know the nba. |

My prediction stands. We'll see how this season unfolds.
And by the way, I was being sarcastic about you not watching the Finals series because of your vacuous assumption that I don't watch the "other games out the[re] in the league." I am a Laker fan but I enjoy watching the game of basketball between any two teams.
So what are your Western/Eastern predictions? All you've been doing is whooping and hollering about the Memphis Grizzlies so far. |

Oklahoma City is far and away the best team in the West. It doesn't matter what anyone else does. Unless the Lakers give up petty scraps for Dwight Howard, it's unlikely they will have enough to contend with a young, hungry team that actually has sustained chemistry.
They made the WCF last season. They aren't "too young" to know what it takes to go deep into the playoffs.
I just hope they have enough to stuff Lebron and keep him ringless. |

ok my prediction is this
WEST:
1.Okc
2.l.a lakers
3.Dallas
4.Portland
5.S.a
6.Memphis
7. L.a clippers
8.Golden state
and i have sacrenmento barley missing the playoffs
EAST:
1.Miami
2.Chicago
3.Boston
4.New york
5.Phili
6.Orlando
7.Atlanta
8.Indiana
and i have the nets also barley missing the playoffs. and in the end i see the Miami Heat winning it all. I know as much as i doing want them to but lebron wade and bosh are gonna be hungry Just like how kobe was hungry after our los to the celtics in 08. He came back hungry and end up winning it all that year. and plus miller and haslem being 100% this year. |

Bringing this thread back to see how close we all were with our predictions. Some of the bigger surprises are the Pacers being so hot, Portland and the Warriors being so not, and New York underachieving for the 2nd straight season.
As of now, it's..
West:
1.OKC
2. Spurs
3. Lakers
4. Clippers
5. Memphis
6. Dallas
7. Denver
8. Houston
East:
1. Bulls
2. Miami
3. Pacers
4. Celtics
5. Hawks
6. Orlando
7. 76ers
8. Knicks |
