Shannon Brown we need you. We need you to work on your defense, we need you to take timely shots and learn to look for the open man on your way to the basket. Everyone knows you can jump out of the gym, (I picked you to win the slam dunk contest, and you were so close on that first attempt I thought you were going to bring the house down,) All you need to work on is timing, control and patience. My brother gave me these little golden nuggegts.
1) Every turnover is the result of too much dribble or no vision to see who is open. To be a prolific passer you must learn to put the ball where your teammate can do the most damage, which in turn will make you a more dangerous foe.
2) Every badly missed shot should have been a pass.
3) If you learn to judge the flight of the ball and where it will carom off to, speed and quickness out rebounds hight, and anticipation defends position, and "hustle-ball beat-em all." You have to out hustle your opponent.
4) If you don't shoot when you're open you hurt the team, and if you shoot every time you are open you hurt the team, Balance, not hesitation is the key.
And last, #5) Move your feet to play defense and try to out think your opponent, judge where the release of the ball will be and beat your opponent to that spot, NO FOULS.
