A little taste of humble pie but not the whole slice....

Very very disappointing loss last night. Not to mention the game ended about 1:30 NY time. By the time I watched the post game it was after 2 in the morning, but that's another story.

As far as the game the Rockets deserved the win, they outplayed the Lakers the whole game. Mr Ming said it best after the game.."we were hungry for this win" The Lakers on the other hand did not look hungry at all. I guess they thought every team would be as soft as the Jazz. Utah and Houston play 2 different games,Utah plays zero defense and Houston plays very good defense and wants to grind it out. The Lakers dont like grind it out games,we saw that in the Boston series last year.

Kobe had one of those games that as a Laker fan you really hate to see. He was shooting and forcing up nothing but jumpers that were not falling all night. He never drove to the basket, never went to the foul line, never once took over the game. Was it because he was sick? Was it the Rocket defense? Probably a little of both.

I agree 100 percent about Fisher,we all love Fish but he cant be on the floor against Brooks. Brooks went by him every single time and either scored or found someone wide open..like Mr Ming. Fisher played 33 of a possible 48 minutes...way too much. Brown and Farmar have to be in the game more. Farmar hit a big 3 at the end of the 3rd but Phil pulled him right away.

And I dont care what the stats say Odom and Gasol both played very soft games. Odom from the line was 1-6, that is just horrible. In the first few minutes Ming blocked Gasol's shot and Pau was soft the whole game after that.

I remember Pat Riley always saying when you squeeze an orange you get orange juice,it seems when you squeeze Odom you get a game like last night. Odom seems to be a downhill runner. When the Lakers are running and flying up and down the court he looks great, when the game gets squeezed you get his game from last night. In a big spot I never trust him.
He never carries a team in a big spot.

Gasol was short arming his shot all night,he was pushed around and Ming ate him up. Bynum it seems has been picking up silly fouls very early in these games and is out of the game more then in it. Bynum played 15 minutes and not at all at the end. 15 minutes? Ming played 40!!!!!!!!!! 15 minutes from Bynum and a million dumb fouls wont get it done. Throw in that Ariza,Sasha, and Brown all did very little as well.

The Lakers warts all showed up last night from Kobe jacking up jumpers to Bynum getting 2 fouls in a minute and playing all of 15 minutes to Gasol being soft to the bench doing nothing to Fisher being exposed and to Odom being squeezed,it all was there last night. As always the Staples celeb filled crowd does little to lift the team as well. It was a complete dud.
Now having said all that I agree there is no need to worry. I think the Lakers are better then Houston. The Rockets will have trouble scoring in most of these games, not having T Mac when they need buckets will be a big factor.

The Rockets did everything right last night and the Lakers played a terrible game yet the Lakers still had a shot in the 4th. I think as the series moves on the Lakers will be too much for the Rockets to hold off like they did last night.

Yes I know the stats, teams that win game 1 win 80 percent of the time, yes I know Phil has never lost after winning game 1 but is 6-8 when losing game 1,I know...I just think the Lakers are better and deeper and the loss of T MAC will hurt Houston. I thought Lakers in 5 before last night,I still think Lakers win and it does not go 7.

Let me also say that the Lakers and Kobe HAVE to win the title this year or its a huge blow, its a title or nothing. Kobe and the lakers would have egg on their face if they dropped this series to a T Mac-less Rocket team in the 2nd round.

And I myself would get a nice slice of humble pie. I usually dont drink Laker Kool aid and I am not a homer. I always look to have the perfect team,I guess because I have seen great Laker teams. But at the end of the year I was drinking a lot of Laker Kool aid and I believed and still do that the Lakers would win the title not because they have a great team but because there is no team out there that can beat them. I still believe that.

The lakers WILL NOT lose this series and WILL NOT lose game 2.
Last night I got a little taste of humble pie at 2 am NY time..let me say I did not like the taste at all. Lets hope the rest of that humble pie stays hidden until another year very far from now. I hated the taste of humble pie but I think Kobe would hate it even more if the Lakers did lose this series.
