I have not been a big fan of Sasha's over the years. I like the kid, but I am just not a fan of the three point specialist type player. It always seems that that is all they do - and it is feast or famine, with famine being more often what you get.
However, Sasha, this year, has really shown the ability to shot consistently well and plays some really nice defense. Playing defense is something that is typically out of the vocabulary for most three point specialists and that is what makes then such a liability on the floor. But not Sasha. He is quick and tenacious and can get in there and bother other "shooter" type players.
After this injury to Luke, I would love to see Kobe move down to the small forward spot and for Sasha to start at shooting guard. I think it would work out great for us for the following reasons:
1) Kobe can save wear and tear on his body playing small forward by not having to pound and dribble the ball the whole game. He can play without the ball a lot and this will help him with all these extra minutes he is playing with all these injuries.
2) Kobe is awesome as a small forward because of his size and strength - great defense on other small forwards and ability to slash to the hole.
3) Sasha and Fisher/Farmar in the backcourt could make some teams pause and take notice because all three of these guys are deadly shooter who are just waiting for Kobe to slash, shoot or pass to them on the outside.
4) This would give us four threats of scoring on the floor at all times with Kobe, Fisher, Sasha and Lamar on the floor. And this would spread things out a bit and make it easier for Kobe to slash, Lamar to get open and even Ronny and Kwame to pick and roll to the rim.
5) It gives us four great ballhandlers on the floor as a starting unit. That might help us with T.O.'s
I would even go as far as to say that Kobe should stay at the three even when Ariza and Luke are healthy. He is great as a shooting guard - of course - but I think even better as a small forward. Especially when he starts to post up with those mad footwork and shooting skills. This move could only increase Kobe's career. What do you guys think? |

| Yea sasha coming off the bench is how it should be. Ive liked the way sasha has played and think we should keep him around for a while. |

| Sasha should start at shooting guard...no doubt! Plays good tenacious D, plays with heart and is now shooting the rock nicely. |

Either wise if he starts or not its the same he's going to have a lot of playing time, farmar can't play all the game.
Adding that Critt is playing as a SG, so who would back up Farmar.I think Phil will have them sharing time at the positions depending on who's going to step up.
We all know that Farmar and Fisher are playing consistent, and on the other hand Sasha isn't always consistent.Let's all just hope that Sasha has one of his good games.Though, he has to step up now while he has the oppurtunity to prove himself while he has some playing time.
Hope we start the road trip with a W. |

I hear what you guys are saying about a "one game wonder" syndrome. But I have to say in response that Sasha has had a good handful of exceptional games this year when he gets the minutes and is "hot".
I looked at his stats and he is shooting 46% from the field within the 3-point line and 40% from behind the line and 90% on his freethrows. This are very good numbers. Plus, if he was just a shooter - I would completely agree that he should not start. But he also plays some nice defense on shooters. He, of course, can not stop a strong driving type player - but shooters he can bother quite well.
The second thing to look at is that we don't have Luke or Ariza right now and we are running out of options at small forward. That is why I would like to see this happen. |

| I think we are going to have to start Sasha at SG or Jordan Farmar at PG because of Luke's injury. Kobe has to move to SF. |

I agree, but we might have to start either him or Farmar because Kobe will probably be playing at the SF position. So either Farmar or Sasha has to start. |

eventhough vald just came back i believe there is a good chance he might start.
although it would be interesting to see farmar or sasha start, with KB at SF |

Now I have to ask you guys - which is a better defensive team for us out on the floor:
Kwame - Center
Lamar - Power Forward
Kobe - Shooting Guard
Rad - Small Forward
Fisher - Point Guard
or
Kwame - center
Lamar - Power Forward
Kobe - Small Forward
Sasha - shooting guard
Fisher - point guard
I really believe the 2nd with Sasha at sg is better and Kobe at sf because Vlade Rad is a defensive liability and he will have to guard Prince tonight and then Kobe has to guard Hamilton. Hamilton would be the perfect guy for Sasha to guard because he is not physical he just runs around like a chicken with its head cut off. |

| Sasha has terrible passing and ball-handling in my opinion, I would much rather see him as a give to and shoot player, which should be a role-player and not a starter. Besides, it would not work very well now that Gasol joined the team. |
