For a guy from Hicksville, maybe Mitch Kupchak isn't the brain-dead numskull that some Lakers fans have made him out to be. . . .
The Lakers general manager -- birthplace: Hicksville, N.Y. -- deserves credit for rolling the dice by drafting 17-year-old Andrew Bynum two years ago and then resisting the urge to trade him before he reached his potential. . . .
BTW, although Bynum already is nearly a quarter of the way through his third NBA season, only five NBA players are younger than the Lakers center, who won't be of age to legally buy brandy for his eggnog until October. . . . |

Yea, keeping Andrew must of been hard for Mitch with the best player in the world screaming at you for a trade. Thank God Mitch stuck to his guns and kept him. Bynum's going to be really good in that center spot for ages to come.
And bringing in Fisher was huge. Fisher's consistency, leadership, all that is really helping us big this year.
And I really like the Ariza trade. |

Yeah, so now he's just a mediocre GM! =D jk mitch.
I'm glad to see that Mitch's decisions are now paying him back in spades. Bynum is having a breakout season and the sky's the limit for him. |

| Maybe instead of being known as the GM who traded away Shaq...he'll be known as the GM that didn't trade away Bynum...maybe that decision will be one of the best decisions he will ever make...well besides not trading Kobe away... |

| Perhaps Mitch is happy Kobe had the no trade clause...because if he didn't Kobe would be with the Pistons right now...or maybe even somebody like the Hawks...Buss would have traded Kobe away himself...it's a conspiracy...Kupchak & Kobe planned all of this... |

If you saw Indy/Miami play tonight, and I did cos I am in Florida visiting family, you would see what a stiff JO is and what a stiff the Deisel has become.
Mitch might have made some dumb moves -- everyone makes dumb moves when examined in the light of 20/20 hindsight. But one brilliant move can make up for a lifetime of dumba** sh!t.
Keeping Bynum after Kobe "The General Manager"Bryant orders you to is that brilliant move. Talk about not buckling under pressure. Because of Mitch's stubborness, we will be contenders for years to come. Add in the Farmar pick and "the Lakers are back!"
TCB is fun (even if some of us take it too seriously,) but few of us would have kept Bynum had we been in Kupchak's shoes.
L.A. owes Kupchak some major props.
I guess Dr. Buss must be doing something right in hiring GM's. Thank God he didn;t hire Isiah Thomas! |

| Maybe it wasn't Dr. Buss doing good...maybe it was Kupchak doing good by listening to Jerry West when he was tutoring him...but I do give him alot of credit for not making a senseless trade...I was actually thinking about this when Kobe wanted to be traded this summer...I looked at the roster and saw that we were actually gonna be pretty good...and i saw how everybody was hating on Kupchak and i was hoping that everything would turn out good so that people wouldn't call him Cupcake anymore & they could see that we are better off with him than somebody like Isiah Thomas...Good Job Mitch... |

| He got fisher and kept Bynum, those are the main things I think he has done. He also found Ariza out of the blue, something I definetly did not expect. It is funny how people's opinion about someone can change so quickly, Kupchak came from idiot to brilliant........ |

| Not only did he not trade Bynum, he kept Kobe, drafted and kept Farmar, traded for Ariza, kept Odom, drafted JCritt, and obtained Fisher. As of now, the Lakers are one of the deepest and youngest teams in the NBA. |

| I'm about to change my line-up (the same since Fisher's acquisition) by replacing Walton with Ariza. This dude's gonna be VERY good. |

Man the only thing i really regretted was trading caron butler away for kwame brown. if we hadnt made that trade we could of had our own big three or even our own fantastic 4 of KOBE BYNUM LAMAR AND CARON that would of been a deep team too if we have our current team without kwame and more FA would want to come here to help us out. Starting lineup could of been
fisher
kobe
caron
odom
bynum |

| That was Phil's fault , not Mitch's. |

I must agree, trading Butler was horrible but keeping Bynum deserves credit. |

Phil was responsible for the Butler trade! A week before the trade he told the Laker front office he didn't like the current line-up. That was around the time he agreed to coach the Lakers again. This was all national news. When Butler got traded, it was clear that Phil had something to do with it |
