Very nice find. I appreciate that Kenny Smith thinks that the Lakers will get past the 1st round, unlike his colleague, Charles Barkley. I think the Laker will at least make the WCF. That is is my prediction, and hopefully I am right and we prove all the doubters wrong. This team is only going to get better.

Very nice find. ya know the more I watch Kenny "the jet" Smith and Charles "No Ring" Barkly argue about the lakers the more i want to see kenny just smack "Sir No Ring" in the face and what better why then the lakers making it to the WCF and even better winning. I honestly think this team has what it takes to make it. but we all will see in a few months

No I don't think the Lakers will fade. This years team is on another level compared to last years, and this time around we started with a much tougher schedule and still managed to do pretty well. Even with a 19-11 record, we managed to blow some games and I think we will only get better as the season winds down and the schedule gets easier.

Last year, we had injuries to Luke Walton, Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown, VladRad, etc. We lost our 26-13 record and ended up with a measly 42-40.
We blamed the injury bug for our team's sharp decline in play. We prayed it wouldn't happen.
But the injury bug apparently loves feasting on the hearts of the Lakers.
Right now, we're at 19-11. Last year we were at 20-11. Yet people all over the league aren't so quick to assume that we'll start free falling into a decline like last year.
Why not? We've had the same injuries to a lot of the same players. Odom still has his shoulder problem, Lukes ankles are as brittle as twigs, Mihms too, VladRad just had an ankle sprain plus his sprained wrists, Kobe had his groin injury, Turiaf had a concussion, Bynum + Kobe had stomach flus, and yet people aren't discounting the Lakers as a good team.
And why is that? It could be because this year, every player we've got has become a key player for us. We haven't had to put a load onto any one player. We've got so many contributors from every position and off the bench. Not to mention the addition of Ariza and Fisher. Farmar and Sasha have developed their roles. With Odom out this next game, expect a number of players to get 2+ rebounds above their averages.
But I believe there's only one true reason why we've become so much better than last year.
The departure of Smush Parker.
We finally play team basketball now. It's such a relief. The ball doesn't become heavy with the sweat of one player's hands anymore. It actually moves.
Thanks Smush. Hope you enjoy free agency. |

this team has players that drastically improved since last year (Bynum, Farmar) with some of the bad players gone (Smush, recently Cook) and couple new and prosperous players (Fisher, Ariza). I dont think it matters this early in the season if both last year and this year they will end up with the same record, this is a better team and i can expect them to do better in the play-offs
