The trade that makes the most sense from the Lakers side, the Bulls side, and the Kobe side-Bulls get Kobe..Lakers get Hinrich,Gordon,Noah,Thomas, and the Bulls number one pick in the draft next year. The Bulls would have Wallace,Nocioni,Kobe,Deng,Duhon...in the east that team can win right now. The Lakers would get younger and rebuild..they are not winning anything anytime soon anyway. They would have a young Bynum,Thomas,Noah,Critt,Farmar,Turiaf, along with Gordon,Hinrich, and Odom. K Brown and his contract go after this season.
Kobe and Deng can play together in Chicago which is what Kobe wanted. Chicago said Deng and Hinrich were untouchable but that was not true..Deng would have been traded if Kobe did not veto it. Once Kobe gets to Chicago Deng will sign a new contract with the Bulls.
Chicago will always be the favorite to get Kobe, they have the most players to give back, they are in the east, and Kobe wants to play there with Deng.
Kobe has to still want out of LA. Just the fact that the Lakers were ready to deal him away for Deng must still be in the back of Kobe's mind. A player with his ego cant like that the team he plays for now was ready to trade him until he had to veto it. If the Lakers were set to deal him and Kobe was ready to go in the right deal then to me the writing is on the wall. He will be traded, its just a question of when and for who. Hinrich,Noah,Thomas,Gordon, and the Bulls number one pick next year for Kobe is the best deal for all sides. |

| Since on the surface it seems that we are not getting equal value because we are not getting a "Star" in return, you need to do something to make this package worth more down the road. Chicago needs to sweeten the pot to compensate for us not getting Deng, who was offered, but Kobe nixed the trade. One way would be to receive two first round draft picks. We would then have the ability to trade two or three first round picks to move way up to the top of the draft in the next year or two and pick OJ Mayo, or some other future franchise player. Why? The one thing missing from this trade package is a marquee player that sells tickets both at home and on the road. We will no longer have that franchise player who is the marketing identity for the Lakers. You need to be able to draft the next Kevin Durant, Luol Deng, or player of your dreams. Or you could trade one of those picks, an expiring contract that you do not want, like Kwame's, and Lamar for a "marquee" player now, like Agent Zero, who says he is going to leave Washington anyway. |

I think the Lakers should focus on rebuilding and not ticket sales. The lakers will always be the lakers, the staples center wont be empty once Kobe does leave. The lakers FO should not be concerned about Pam Anderson sitting courtside if Kobe is not there.
The Bulls rebuilt and the United Center was always packed. Before the Bulls players were good they were just prospects and the fans enjoyed watching the young guys. Same thing in Miami with the young team they had before the Shaq trade.
The Knicks played this not rebuilding game and always tried to have a star on the team like Marbury, they wasted a decade and they insulted the fans of Madison Square Garden. The Ny fans would have been happier with a rebuilding team then the mess they got the last decade..the Garden fans booed more then cheered every game for over ten years.
The Lakers cant get Deng,Amare,Dirk,Arenas,or any other big star. These trades dont work that way. When you trade a star you never get equal value instead you get a lot of players back who are prospects. That is what Minny got for KG and the Sixers got for AI.
The Lakers hope would be some of these prospects turn into all stars or good players. Bynum,Noah, and Thomas were all high draft picks. Plus you get a solid young player in Hinrich back as well.
The lakers FO thinks Bynum will be their big man of the future thats why they have not traded him for stars like Kidd and JO. If thats how the FO feels why not just rebuild completely? Kobe wants out or help which the lakers cant provide for him.
Dont think the laker fans wont enjoy a young Laker team with new faces and prospects and a new start. All teams rebuild,Utah,Chicago,Miami etc etc and the fans of those teams loved those young teams who were rebuilding. I would rather do what those teams did then what the Knicks did. And the knick fans who I talk with all agree. Rebuild rather then halfway it.
If you want to move some other players down the road or get other picks thats fine but I dont think the Lakers are getting a star back and I dont think in the end they will get a better deal then this.
Worry about rebuilding on the court not who is sitting courtside..the fans will be there, its the lakers...they will always be popular. And like I said watching a young team with prospects is better then watching a mediocre team with an unhappy star who wants out. |

I like the idea of having a future lineup:
Hinrich
Farmar
Thomas
Noah
Bynum
with Gordon as a vet and JCritt as a sixth man...
But I would rather try to swing a 3 way deal to get us stars from different sides because obviously Chicago isn't interested in messing up their core. I'd like to get Hinrich, Thomas, and Noah from them and another all-star from somewhere else. How about this: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &cash=
Hinrich
Gordon
Lamar
Kirilenko
Bynum
Farmar, Thomas, JCritt, Noah, Fisher, Luke, Mihm off the bench. That's pretty good. |
