I cried, the day he died.
There was a note on his desk to call Bill Russell, later that very-same, fateful evening. They were actually the best of friends, going way back to the early days.
He was as humble, as he was boastful.
And I celebrate his birthday, as I would celebrate my own.
Happy Birthday, Wilt. |

Happy Birthday to the man with basketball stats so mind boggling that many people assume they're not real or that he played against inferior opponents. Not true.
The endurance stats are just as crazy. Averaged nearly 46 minutes per game for his entire career. Averaged 48.5 minutes per game one year (due to overtime games).
Was the only player in NBA history to record a double-triple-double (20+ in any 3 major stats categories). May have had a double-quadruple-double as well if blocked shots were recorded in his era. It's a known fact that he had over 25 blocks in some games according to Jack Ramsey. All that and yet he never fouled out of a single game in his entire career. Just staggering numbers.
What a beast he'd be if he were to show up for today's NBA. Beyond phenomenal. Happy Birthday again Wilt! |
