Devin Ebanks will be a restricted free agent this offseason, meaning the Lakers can match any offer he receives.
“They seemed pretty interested in me,” Ebanks said Tuesday after his meeting with Lakers coach Mike Brown and Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak.
Ebanks also said: “I’d definitely love to stay here in L.A. and continue my career here.”
Ebanks has shown enough potential in game action that there should be some suitors " more so than rookie point guard Darius Morris, who also will be a restricted free agent, so it remains to be seen if the Lakers want to spend to bring Ebanks back.
He began the season as the starting small forward while Metta World Peace worked his way into game shape, but Ebanks didn’t show enough for Lakers coach Mike Brown to trust him in the playoffs despite Matt Barnes’ prolonged struggle. Ebanks finally replaced Barnes in the rotation in the Lakers’ final game Monday night in Oklahoma City. He made mistakes and was shaky on his shot, but he showed his athletic ability to compete with Kevin Durant.
Before Game 5, Ebanks offered via his Twitter account: “It’s all about the Benjamin’s baby!”
Ebanks said he was told Tuesday that the Lakers would like to see him improve his guard skills this offseason so he could serve as a shooting guard also. Ebanks’ priority in his next contract will be going somewhere for more playing time.
So my question to you LTB is should the Lakers bring back Devin Ebanks?

For the Minimum maybe, one year deal. But if we can get a better free agent, I'd much rather have a Petreus or other defender type on our bench. His defense is overated, his shot sucks, his passing is the worst on the team, and he plays like a rookie still, scared, tentative, and offers nothing.

Depends on how much he's offered by other teams, but I definitely hope the Lakers can keep him, since there's slim pickings at the Small Forward spot for the minimum.

I'd like to see him come back. The only way a guy develops is with some time given and he hasn't been given a chance really.

IF the Lakers resign Ebanks, Brown better start playing him more and also Goudelock.

I'm confident Ebanks and especially Goudelock will get more playing time next season. The Lakers have been looking for a knock down perimeter shooter for ages and we already have one in Goudelock. The only thing working against him is his height but hey maybe the Dirk Nowitzki step-back leg-up fade-away could be extended past the 3 point line.

I like ebanks .. he has a lot of lot potential in my opinion and could be a really solid player if he gets in the gym and really works on his game. I wouldn't mind keeping him, but if there's better deals out there that we can get; say for ex, iggy, then i would go with iggy, but i wouldn't mind keeping ebanks.

I would like to see the Lakers be a running team next year , and we sure can, by having RS running the point trade AB-4- D12-it would be nice to have a taste of showtime
