Lets test everybody's creative skills with their all time starting 5 plus 1.
PG: West aka The logo = The Brain
SG: Kobe aka The mamba = Passion
SM: Worthy aka Big game James = Effectiveness
PF: Pau aka Mr.Skills = Passing
C: Shaq aka The daddy = Dominance
I know I'l take a lot of flack for this but Magic is my sixth man and my favorite player of all time. I put him their to come in and play any position or fill any need I have.
Bring it on who could stop this runaway train. Lol |

PG: Magic
SG : Kobe
SF : Baylor
PF : Wilt
C : Kareem/Shaq
Sixth Man : West.
Yeah, I cheated and put Wilt and Kareem on the team at the same time lol. But that team would be bonkers.
Wilt, Shaq manning the paint would be the WORST nightmare for any player. I know there's not enough shots to go around the team but I trust Magic to somehow make it work lol.
I wouldn't be surprised if Magic ended up with 12 pts 12 AST 10 REBS per game lol.
Kobe 26 PPG 4 AST 5 REBS
Baylor 26 PPG 4 AST 5 REBS
Wilt 20 PPG 4 AST 15 REBS
Shaq 20 PPG 3 AST 13 REBS
if this team alone played for 48 minutes every game.....
I had Baylor and Kobe average more PPG because of the fastbreak opportunities that would naturally open up with the defence wreaking havoc and Magic giving the outlet pass to a Kobe/Baylor running at full steam for the throwdown.
If the team plays slow tempo, that would make the team more balanced I guess.
And before you guys wonder how Wilt and Shaq will co-exist, I based this purely on D. And if Millsap and AlJ can work it out, I'm sure Wilt and Shaq can. |

Thats pretty good but I'd go small and run those big boys to death. Lol |

Try going small and fastbreaking vs a prime Kobe and Baylor. Wilt wasn't too shabby on transition as well so if Kobe and Baylor can delay the others for even a second even if they bite the pumpfake, they got Wilt gunning for the block.
And I haven't even started about the massacre on O or the boards lol. Magic can post up, Kobe can post up, Baylor can, and I don't need to mention Wilt and Shaq.
Or this team could simply screen the small guys to death for easy spot up shots for Baylor/Kobe. Or force them to bang with Shaq/Wilt in the post while the perimeter guys get ready for the fastbreak.
Pretty sure the small guys would rather not play than go through Wilt and Shaq's bodies repeatedly through a game lol. |

Wow... I respect the opinions of others but how can any lineup, short of one that includes Michael Jordan, not have Kobe as the starting SG? Jerry West was, by all accounts, awesome and an all-time great but he couldn't guard or score on Kobe. The toughest choice for me is at C where I'd have to choose between Wilt, Kareem, and Shaq. Anyway, here is my starting 5 and my 6th
PG: Magic
SG: Mamba
SF: "Big Game James" Worthy
PF: Gasol (tough choice between Pau, Mykal Thomson, and McAdoo)
C: Wilt
6th man: Michael Cooper |

BTW guys, West could be considered as a PG and goodrich as an SG as well.
At that point in time, people didn't really separate the PG from the SG. And I don't think they separated the PF from the C either? Atleast while describing the roles, I don't think they did..... ( Cuckoo or any other old-school fan? Did maraud watch games in the 70s? ).
If they didn't, I don't see why there should any problem in saying Wilt would be better off playing in today's NBA at PF. That is, if you guys are skipping away from using two of our more famous bigs because they strictly don't play that position. |

I am going to mix it up because it's my team.
PG-Magic (obviously have to control the game)
SG-Kobe (Scoring and Defensive Machine)
SF-West (Him on the Wing would = Money with the 3 point shooting being in effect)
PF-Kareem(He can shoot, and leave room for the Center)
Wilt-(His strength, Athletic ability and speed along with shot blocking be to much to stop)
6th man- Shaq. I had to change the 6th man so many times.hahaha |

Just on talent and ability and by postion, with no regard for chemistry:
PG- Magic
SG- Kobe
Center- Kareem
Small forward- Worthy
Big forward- Baylor
Top five without regards to position in no particular order judged by longevity and accomplishment:
Magic
Kareem
Kobe
Mikan
West
Top five just by what they brought us:
Magic
Kareem
Mikan
Shaq
Kobe |

I don't know how good some of the (very) old players are but in my opnion this should be the all-time 8 man rotation:
PG Magic Johnson
SG Kobe Bryant
SF Michael Cooper
PF James Worthy
C Kareem Abdul Jabbar
6th Jerry West The Logo don't need to say more (just on name base i pick him)
I Like a fast paced team. Putting in another center would slow the team down to much. Hopefully this team could stop the big tandems.
Don't know about not picking Chamberlain, Goorich, Baylor and O'Neal. |
