| I don't see it mentioned above, but it looks like Jordan Hill did not have to appear in person in court today in Houston. |

Felony hearing for forward Jordan Hill rescheduled for June
By Mike Bresnahan
A felony hearing for Lakers forward Jordan Hill has been rescheduled until June 8, according to a spokeswoman for the Harris County district attorney's office.
An attorney for Hill appeared in a Houston courthouse Tuesday and asked for the case to be continued next month.
Hill was charged with a third-degree felony Monday for choking his girlfriend on Feb. 29, according to court documents.
Hill, 24, was with the Houston Rockets at the time of the alleged incident. He has recently become a reliable rotation player for the Lakers, averaging eight points and 10 rebounds in the first two games of a first-round series against the Denver Nuggets.
He was acquired by the Lakers on March 15 for Derek Fisher and a first-round draft pick in this year's draft.
Hill faces up to 10 years in prison.
“When I got the phone call, I was definitely shocked, just like everybody else was,” he said in a brief interview with reporters before Tuesday's game.

lol at how basketball has priority over legal matters, especially something as serious as a third degree felony charge...
Jordan Hill is a beast I hope he stays with the team for a long time and this all gets taken care of... |

I think it's because they're assured that Jordan Hill won't run away, so they can schedule it for a later date. |

However, as Hill is a free agent after this season, should he get convicted it won't be as a Laker. |

| She has to have a witness or else it is her word against his word. Bruises could be self inflicted by the defendant. Taking two months to file the charge puts a question mark over this case. Sounds like somebody has been talking to miss Luna that there could be a out of court settlement if she drops the charges. |

So what your saying is that he is playing so well, for a big contract. Double

I don't think he will get convicted, but you never know all the details and that is Texas they do things a little different down there.
But I think that it will cost Hill losts of money to get her off his back. The thing is she could drop the charges, but the state could still follow up and press charges. I am not sure about Texas laws. |

yeah, I don't think he will be convicted either, but Texas is the wrong place to be committing crimes. They kill people over there! |

I thought he still has 2 years, with next year being a team option. Unless you were saying that the Lakers would exercise their team option on him if he was convicted. |

The deadline to exercise his team option passed when he was still with Houston. There's no team option for Lakers to exercise even if we wanted to. |

What this means if the Lakers make the NBA finals and i think they will,he will be in court on trial during game 5 or 6 of the finals?Last season game 5 of the finals took place on June 9.
He is one of the weirdest stories in recent memory. He sat for a ton of games injuries and then he comes in and becomes the best bench player since Lamar Odom.He is playing like a lottery pick should play.Mind boggling situation with his ex GF.I hope it all works out for him and the Lakers keep him for a long time if he is found not guilty on trial. |

| The date is for the preliminary hearing, not the actual trial itself. It's also known as a probable cause hearing, and is the first step in a long process that may lead to a trial. If the prosecution can show probable cause for the felony charge (and what we know so far suggests they can) it will be sent to a Grand Jury for indictment, and only after that will it proceed to the actual trial. |

Hill Strikes Plea on Choking Girlfriend
Quote:
Back in March, Lakers reserve big man Jordan Hill was charged with assault after a fight with his girlfriend back in Houston where he allegedly bruised her legs and choked her.
This week he reached a plea deal in the case that will mean just a fine if he doesn’t repeat the incident, reports TMZ.
"According to clerk at Harris County Criminal Court in Houston, TX … Hill plead no contest to the charge this morning and in exchange was given a 1-year deferred sentence and a $500 fine. In other words, if Hill stays out of trouble for the next year and pays the fine, the whole case will be wiped from his record.
The judge in the case had put in place a protective order for the girlfriend.
Hill signed a two-year deal to stay with the Lakers this summer. He will back up Dwight Howard (and could see a lot of minutes if Howard isn’t ready to go when the season starts).
