NEW YORK -- Move over, Kobe and LeBron: Only Derrick Rose could top Linsanity when it came to jersey sales over the past year.
The league's reigning MVP has the top-selling jersey at the NBA Store and nbastore.com since April 2011, the NBA says Thursday. Knicks guard Jeremy Lin was No. 2, despite his merchandise not even being available until his stunning breakthrough in February.
Bryant was third and James fourth, unusually low spots for two of the NBA's biggest superstars. Bryant had been No. 1 six times and James twice since 2001.
Carmelo Anthony rounded out the top five, helping the Knicks finish second in team merchandise sales. The Bulls were No. 1 for the first time since April 2001.
Lin had the league's most popular jersey sales in February and March following he his overnight rise to prominence. His performance also helped boost the share price of Knicks owner Madison Square Garden on the stock market at the time.

| This is great for the NBA. China can bring a pretty large market for them. |

It's definitely profitable for them, but it has a downside. Don't be surprised if Jeremy Lin gets the starting PG spot at next year's ASG even if he doesn't deserve it. The chinese love to see one of their own in the spotlight, hence why they voted Yao in even when he was injured and didn't play well at all. |

You make a good point.
What's really scary is that eventually the NBA will have multiple widely popular players of Chinese decent playing in the league at the same time. Can you imagine if a Yao Ming or Jeremy Lin type of player exploded onto the NBA scene at every basketball position? Theoretically, in that scenario, the entire starting 5 of an All-Star team could be filled with Chinese players.
LMAO at the thought of Lebron losing his starting spot on the All-Star team to some hyped up rookie small forward lottery pick from China. LOL. Sh*t, it happened to Shaq! SHAQ! In 2003, a year where Shaq averaged over 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks, he lost his starting spot on the All-Star team to a rookie Yao who averaged 13 and 8. LOL. Shaq never again earned his Western Conference All-Star starting spot back by way of fan voting.
As you say, Wade or D-Rose are gonna have to take a back seat to Lin on next year's All-Star team. Sad, but most likely true. |

I honestly believe Rose would not care at all if Lin took his place. I've had the feeling for a while now that Rose dislikes the ASG. He never seems engaged or excited about it. He'd probably rather spend the weekend in Chicago playing video games. |
