Anybody see this last night on NBA TV? It was pretty hilarious, Shaq Ripped ARtest for the Elbow saying it was intentional and ridiculous, Artest came back with a tweet saying Shaq is a hypocrite he knocked out (named a few players Shaq gave concussions to in his career and how many times Shaq's been ejected and of course the Brad Miller haymaker)
Shaq came back with yea but I manned up and didn't make excuses, (Artest said it was "passion", not anger) then started making faces like Artest does, it was hilarious.
But I did think it was sort of hypocritical of Shaq to make the initial comment, when his elbows were always flying. (sometimes purposfully)
What do you think? Was Shaq being hypocritical?

I think Shaq has done the same thing when he was in the league.
Yea, he pretty much admitted it, he was just irritated with Artest for coming out with his "I was just showing my passion" Instead of coming out and just saying Yea I did it because of this or that, making excuses. (according to Shaq's words)

Yeah I think that punch if it would have landed it would have knocked out Barkley. Now Shaq trains in MMA and wants to fight Hong Man Choi.
I'd pay to see that, Although I think he'd get his arse kicked.

Shaq just says what the fuk he wants. He's criticizing Artest for making excuses? What the hell did he want him to say? "Yeah it was totally intentional, he came at me and I just felt like giving him an elbow to the back of his head" That's a reasonable thing to say. Ron would never play in the nba again if he said something like that. Besides, what excuses could Shaq make for his blows? He just jumped on people and tried to punch them. Not many excuses can be made for that...
Shag was wrong. He was one of the worst at throwing elbows, fighting with Barkley, fighting with Miller and his windmill punch. Shaq is a clown.
I still say that Hardin did not have any business going after MwP several seconds after the dunk. The play was over and get back on defense, that is what Harden should have done. But noooo he wanted to show MWP he was a tough guy with his thick beard rubbing against his shoulder. Until MWP said: Get away from me. And he got a little pop on the neck. That is what happens when you act tough and cocky, and Harden does that all the time. Maybe this will take the cocky out of Harden going into the playoffs. We know he will try and mix it up with Kobe again. According to the Oklahoman they say there might be retaliation if they meet in the playoffs. Should be interesting.

This is not even funny on Shaq's part. Of course Artest is no angel. But Artest even has David Stern saying stuff like you can't determine an intent to harm for sure on his actions against Harden. He was left to call the elbow "reckless and dangerous" which of course it was. But the intent was not determined. Like Stern said, you can't read his mind. On the other hand, Shaq is being incredibly hypocritical in this case if you ask me. There was absolutely NO question regarding intent to harm on the part of Shaq when he took that full-force, closed-fist, haymaker swing at the back of Brad Miller's head as he was turned away from him. And it barely missed him! Shaq was NOT swinging at the air! If Shaq had connected with that shot his life may have radically changed. Miller's may have too. Shaq's certainly NOT the one to talk and to openly criticize Artest as if he's above him in this action. I find it funny that Artest was the one restraining Shaq back in that 2002 Miller incident.
Shaq took a LOT of punishment in his playing days. I was always amazed that he didn't just blow up and knock the crap outta people. But he didn't ALWAYS keep his temper and emotions under control either.

I agree that Shaq had more reason to blow up than anybody. Bynum is kind of getting that treatment on a give me dunk these days now. What I find interesting though, is that Shaq's ability to remain calm in all the dirty fouls on him was what impressed me the most. Then every once in a while he went crazy, although barkley in my opinion started the whole thing. Shaq saying what he says is a detractor to many of his fans, and like its been said, his career could have been dramatically changed if he knew how to land a punch. Ron Artest is already marred worse than any player in the history of the game, and shaq says this sh&%. Please, stick to the teleprompter shaq and keep using big words like "visceral".

lakerfan8, yeah, he is marred for sure. Artest had reversed much of the negative perception about him, and that was against seemingly impossible odds. But that was all wiped out in a few short seconds in a personal celebration of a freakin' dunk! People are almost always willing to forgive...eventually. But he is stuck with the rep this time IMO. I doubt there's enough time left in his career to mend the fences. Teams may be hesitant to take a chance on his skills at this stage of his career. He has now hurt the Lakers chances in the playoffs two years in a row with inexplicable plays that left no choice but to bring on a suspension. Worse yet, and I'd hate to see this, he may never be as aggressive on the court after going through this routine again accompanied by the open public scrutiny in the age of social media.

^^LakerRRTX,
I hope your wrong about Ron, Ron. The good thing is that World Peace is crazy and nobody can say for sure how he will be when he returns.

i honestly think Shaq is an insecure, scared bully. he tries very hard to scare and intimidate other smaller people by his size. but when he encounters with the real fighter, he p****** out. you can tell when Jon challenge him during the TNT show, he acts weirdly and tries not to mess around with the real deal.
Shaq will never ever be a good fighter and he knows it. he is too slow. have you guys seen him box with Oscar, he gets beat like a punching bags. he is too slow and has no endurance.
Artest vs. Shaq. I bet my career on Artest winning the fight.
RON"METTA WORLDPEACE" ARTEST is Crazy.I admire the guy for what he does for Mental Health. There is a reason he wants to bring these issues to the forefront.HE's Crazy and is gonna need help.I am glad this guy is on the team he has been the Muscle of this team. Kobe now has a feared protector.Bynum is beginning to get the "Shaq"treatment, where teams foul him all the time that's why he angry.THis team has its share of tough guys, and were gonna need them come playoff time against Denver.
SHAQ now an NBA commentator will say a lot of things to keep ratings up.I do know the intent of his punches were meant to hurt somebody.I am glad Shaq played for the Lakers .He was a MONSTER. but a not really mean guy..Let's get ready to rumble
Barkley says the Nuggets will upset the Lakers. Smith and Shaq say the Lakers will in six that the Lakers are just too big and experienced over the Nuggets.

Shaq knows what's up. He said Drew is the best center in the game, and he got that right.

I hope I'm wrong too! I just think it will be hard to get back into the same kind of physical rhythm. But he's been through the playoffs wars before, so I'll hope for the best.

The thing that bothers me a bit, is that Drew seems to be getting ultra angry with tight coverage even when he doesn't get fouled. But I'm sure he'll learn to play through it.

Barkley creeps me out though. I hate him saying predictions

I've gotten the impression that Barkley almost always picks against the Lakers. Big deal....

He still despises LA from the Houston Rocket days. That was kind of a rivalry. Shaq and Kobe taking on the 2nd best dynasty retooled. I mean wasn't Hakeem, Clyde, Barkley, and Pippen all on the same team?
