I don't have a feel yet for how bad the Ebanks finger injury is - if it's something he can't play with (non-shooting hand)
So if Metta suspended, Barnes out with ankle and Ebanks dropped a dumbbell on his finger - LAL may have to give Eyenga some play
Will Eyenga step in and be the Lakers starter on Thursday?
----------------
Mike Bresnahan @Mike_Bresnahan
Devin Ebanks bruised the ring + middle fingers of his left hand b/c of what's being a called a "weightlifting accident." Not even kidding.
Reports are that Devin Ebanks dropped a dumbbell on one of his fingers. Not clear if he can play or not. "Contusion" two fingers..
And the hits just keep on comin'...
Where's Luke Walton when you REALLY need him? LOL (j/k)
Now I'm REALLY cheering for the Hawks over the Clippers tonight! |

Still looking for clarifying news on the severity of Ebanks injury...but if he can't play, he can't play. |

I think I'd start Kobe at SF and Steve Blake at shooting guard and bring Goudelock in off the bench.
One way or the other, we may see an Eyenga siting though. Craziness..... |

| Eyenga's been pretty unremarkable in the d-league. He's only averaging 12 points and 5 rebounds. By comparison Ebanks was pulling 17ppg and 7rpg. Considering he's a first round pick (30th, but still) he's a pretty flat dud so far. |

I'd also do that considering Sacramento usually plays with Tyreke and Thornton at the 2 and 3 so no problem |

this would be my guess since sac starts evans at sf, lakers starting kobe at sf and blake at sg won't affect them. |

| With a couple of days to recover from his weightlifting accident, maybe Ebanks can make it out there just fine anyway. I still think we'll see Eyenga in uniform for the first time, but chances are that would have been the case even without Devin's finger accident. Apparently it's already decided that Matt Barnes is not making the Sacramento trip. |

Only a nightmare in the sense that it very well could be one of the most critical games of the year for the Lakers, depending on whether or not the Clippers win their remaining two games. If the Clippers win out (highly possible) then Thursday night's game could conceivably make the difference between a possible 1st round exit (vs. Memphis) or a long run in the playoffs. |

| Even if Kobe starts at the 3, he's going to need a backup. Maybe Brown'll go 'super tall' and play McRoberts at the 3. Given some of the random lineup decision he's made this year, you never know. |

Dan,
We need more trolls like you. Honestly, I've been working out forever, with huge weights, machines, dumbbells, all of it. And neither me or any of my crew ever dropped weights on our fingers, feet, toes or any other body part. You gotta be a dumbbell to let that happen. That shits heavy, and made of steel! Duh. |

Ha! Maybe they're hiding something. Could be that Pau dropped one on him but the team is too embarrassed to tell the truth! Yeah...there it is. Makes more sense. |

| ^Lakers do Katie. The only threat now to take over the #3 spot is the Clippers. So the Lakers would have home court over Memphis if they slip to #4. |

Dan,
But how could Pau lift a weight heavy enough to hurt anything? Perhaps what the Lakers are hiding is Metta elbowed Ebanks in the hand. |

lakers do, lakers are 2-1 against memphis. If lakers win 1 more game they'll clinch 3rd seed, even if clips win 2 of their games. If clips lose 1 game, clips be locked for 4th seed. |

Ha! No doubt. Nothing like a little Lakers drama at playoffs time! It's impossible for this team to be drama free. BTW, I say Pau only got the dumbbell up to knee-height before dropping it with an accompanying primal scream. Otherwise the damage could have been massive!
This coming from a guy who loves Pau! The team would be nowhere without him. So what is the world coming to? Somebody hit me please!! |

The Clippers can actually still slip down to #5 if they lose both their remaining games and Memphis wins their remaining one game. |

Almost true but not quite complete. Maybe you mean if the Clippers only lose one game they will be locked into #4. The Clippers can actually still slip down to #5 if they lose both their remaining games and Memphis wins their remaining one game.
i don't think so, i heard on sports central that lowest seed clips can get is 4th. specially since clips won tie breaker over memphis. |

Memphis wouldn't need the tie-breaker if they win their game and the Clippers lose both of theirs. Memphis would have a better record. Just look at the standings. Pretty straightforward. If somebody said that, they have it wrong. |

| What I have read about Eyenga is that he can play real good defense, but is not much of an offensive player. So we might be alright with him playing because we still have Kobe , Pau, Bynum, Sessions that can score. I think the Lakers will be just fine against the Kings. |

I'd sure like to get the pressure off the Lakers right away though. Go Hawks!!! lol. If the Clippers lose tonight or tomorrow night, the Lakers can finally breathe a little bit. The Clippers have been relentless! Gotta give them credit. The Clippers can still land in either #3, #4, or #5. Sorry, but I just don't want the Lakers to have to face Memphis in the 1st round without Ron and perhaps even some without Matt. The status of his ankle injury is not all that clear yet. |

The status of his ankle injury is not all that clear yet.
clips are losing to hawks right now lol |

What I have read about Eyenga is that he can play real good defense, but is not much of an offensive player. So we might be alright with him playing because we still have Kobe , Pau, Bynum, Sessions that can score. I think the Lakers will be just fine against the Kings.
After the dust has settled here, it looks like Ebanks is the most likely after all. But if he couldn't go, I do not believe there was much chance at all that Eyenga would play a single minute. Still think we'll see him suit up though.
Heck, if the Lakers have locked up the #3 seed prior to the game, I wouldn't mind seeing a lineup of 1 - Morris, 2 - Goudelock, 3 - Eyenga, 4 - McRoberts, 5 - Hill. Chew on that one Sacto! I would not want to see any chance at all of a final game injury to a key player if the game is pretty much meaningless. |

What about Kobe waiting to see how many Durant scores, and then choosing to play against Sac and have players feed him the ball all game \
(AB would hate that but whatevs) so he can drop 40-50 and get the title back? |

And btw, I hope I don't sound like a doofus for admitting this, but I dropped a dumb bell on 2 fingers once as well lol. Hurt like a biotch but recovered quickly. It wasn't from the reps,
it was from placing a heavy pair back on the rack clumsily after a set. One slipped and caught my fingers on the way down. Ouch...He might have been lifting something a bit too heavy
and after a number of reps didn't get help moving them back to the rack and slightly dropped them from fatigue as I did. Could be...heh |

| I still don't get how someone drops a dumbbell on their own fingers. I thought I read that Eyenga dropped it on his fingers which would make more sense. |

Dan,
We need more trolls like you. Honestly, I've been working out forever, with huge weights, machines, dumbbells, all of it. And neither me or any of my crew ever dropped weights on our fingers, feet, toes or any other body part. You gotta be dumbbell to let that happen. That shits heavy, and made of steel! Duh.
Ha! Maybe they're hiding something. Could be that Pau dropped one on him but the team is too embarrassed to tell the truth! Yeah...there it is. Makes more sense.
I doubt we can blame Pau..Afterall when have you ever heard of Pau even knowing where the team weight room is?? |
