Found this on:

clublakers.com/forums/believe-it-or-not-t79926.html

This guy apprently had a source back when the Kidd deal was brewing so he seems credible.

Emplay or Eric Pincus of Hoopworld and a mod/admin on Lakersground and Clublakers has confirmed there have been talks between teams.

I doubt this is true...

The Bucks wouldn't be getting a fair deal because Yi is a lottery pick. I think the Bucks would want to dump Gadzuric's contract on us as well. Somthing like, Simmions, Gadzuric and Yi for Kwame, Farmar, Evans, Turiaf and a future pick.

I don't buy this at all. How many times have we heard that someone has inside info and it turns out to be BS? I think the correct answer is: every time. I'm not saying this is not possible, but I won't believe it unless it actually happens.

I will believe it when I see Yi and Simmons at a press conference holding up Laker jerseys. Until then I do not care what any insider said or unnamed source from wherever has said.

yi for kwame evans and farmar? smells like bs.

but yi's agent did say he wants yi to go to a city with a higher asian population. let's give him a tour of alhambra and monterey park; i know some great tofu houses there.

Maybe, they could use Yi (once acquired) and Andrew in a trade for JO. That way, they wouldn't lose Odom. Still, not sure the numbers would work though.

I wouldnt mind acquiring Yi for a trade. I don't see the sense in picking up Yi to actually play for the Lakers. He is not what we need. He's a project just like Bynum. I do believe that he could b used in a trade for JO though.

Yeah. That way, everyone gets what they want. We obtain JO without losing LO. Indiana gains two very young, promising players in AB and YJ.

This is a promising rumor, but still a rumor. The Asian population in LA has to be bigger than Milwaukee. mamba is right it does smell funny. You guys remember Fennis Denbo, he said he worked the the league office and that we were getting KG. LOL

What we would get would give us some help now in Simmons and for later have AB, YI, Yue, and Gasol to work with.

i don't know how many Chinese there are in Indiana. Maybe 10-15% more than Milwakee.. Yi's commie agent wouldn't want him there.

i really think this is only a move for the future and i think this is our plan if Kobe leaves us because if he does leave, we would be a young developing team like seattle. IM NOT SAYING HE WILL BE TRADED, but IF he does (not including the players we may get in a trade) we got a young nucleus of Crittenton, Yi and Bynum.

This idea really doesn't seem to work all that well for me. We get a 6'6 guard and like griZZly64 says, we get Yi, another project while giving away our likely starting big, possibly our starting young pg, and our other shooting guard Evans. Give up all that for Yi and an 8 million dollar replacement for Evans? I don't think the FO is that interested in Yi.

If we're planning to move Yi to get someone else I wouldn't mind this trade as long as Odom isn't going out in any deal. But if we're keeping him we should try to find a way to pry Charlie Bell from Mil to replace Farmar

If Yi signs a contract with us he no longer has a choice. After 30 days the Lakers could ship him off to Indiana and all Yi could do is look ugly like he already does.

I think JO is going to become a Laker. It's just a matter of time. If he's not traded, he will opt out and sign next season.

I am terrified of the (to hell with the 44M and I'll sign for 5m) concept Grizz, it simply does not make sense. If he does opt out, Indiana will still try to get something from him thru sign-and-trade.

I like Yi, he will be a good fit in LA but I agree he is a project too.

The Rumor does not make sense because:

1) The Bucks are getting backups for a lottery pick and their starting SF? 2) Milwaukee is not desperate for cap space so why trade one good player and a potentially good 7'0 PF/C with outside touch for Kwame Brown? 3) I would believe it better if it was Crittenton offered instead of Farmar. 4) I would believe it better if it was Bynum instead of Evans.

I think JO is going to become a Laker. It's just a matter of time. If he's not traded, he will opt out and sign next season.

Also, if JO is that desperate to be a Laker, this is how it works:

1) JO will officially opt-out of his contract by the end of the year. 2) JO will sign a 3-yr 40M deal (sign-and-trade) to LA with starting salary of 12M. 3) We trade Bynum, Crittenton, 08 1st pick, Brian Cook, salary filler. 4) JO earns 12M on yr1, 13.26M in yr2, and 14.65M in year 3. Technically reducing the original contract by 4M and extending it for 1 more year.

This is the ONLY realistic JO to LA scenario THRU opt-out.

i would believe it more if it was Crittenton offered instead of Farmar, AND if turiaf is added to the deal. so JCritt, kwame, Ronny, evan and next years first round for Simmons and Yi... fari deal. i donno if you guys remember, simmons were a good player when he was witht the clips a few years back, a poor man's redd? he is deadly from distance. anyhow, if we make a deal like this, i think it will evenutally lead to a deal of AB, Simmons and YI + fillers for JO and foster...

Simmons has great numbers, both FG and 3P, I'd love to have him on the team, but picking him up seems expensive to keep around as a backup for Kobe at 8 million per. Of course, if the Lakers were thinking of a Kobe trade next year, it might all fit... not to start any rumors or anything

Maybe they may be making that move in order to have another player to give up to get JO. However, the deal sounds far fetched because of Yi being a lottery pick. I like the Lakers getting Bobby Simmons who is a good defender, and he can shoot. He would be a better bench player than Mo Evans, and we would have a legit sixth man. I think he has a salary somewhat in the scale of Kwame's so that would be cool. Kwame's will expire at the end of the season, and Simmons' won't so that would help Milwaukee's cap situation. I really hope this is true. However, suppose they do land Yi, wouldn't they have a hard time trading him to Indiana?

i hear farmar, kwame, evans and a next year's 1st round pick s locked up for simmons and Yi.

I guess bucks line up is

Mo wiliams / Farmar Redd / evans CV / Mason Kwame Bogut / Gadzuric

i heard we've been offering that same combo of players (kwame, evans, farmar) for numerous players but have been rejected.

IMO, i think those players we tried to get w/ that combo were artest and camby. But we couldn't land them. Who Knows??? But all i know is is that that combo landed us Yi and Simmons. My friend told me that Kupchack tried desperately to get a starter w/ that combo all summer long without giving up our core starters. When that couldn't happen, he and Phil decided to make our bench more solid then ever.

I think it has more to do with a politic push from the international side of Yi, but still, i am excited as heck with this one. Not b/c of Yi, but I've always wanted Simmons. Im telling you rite now, that guy is a poor man tmac.

Im all for this. I have been tracking Yi since before the draft, and have been hoping for a shot at him to come up. He has alot of potential, and is dying to be in L.A. . Im down with getting rid of Kwame, and Mo Evans. I am a bit hesistant giving up our future starting point guard, but I think this is trade the lakers have to do. Its not everyday a top ten draft pick falls in our lap. Is there anyway we can keep Farmar and give up Sasha, or Cook??? I think Milwauke has their backs against the wall in this situation. No matter what, Jianlin is not signing with them.

haha...WHy do we need to lose our best Post Defender for a player that suxs in Defense and is a ROokie? Also we are loosing MO Evans, a great addition from last year. And now his going to get better because he has a year in the triangle already.

I really think this trade is stupid. WE are REbuilding if we make this stupid trade. IS that wat we really want. I weak player. HE is even weaker than DIRK.

For this year the most important part of could be Simmons, maybe Bird told mitch (after he woke him up) that he would not take Brown, but we would think about Simmons and Radman with AB. Who knows. This thread was started by a rumor tha will probably never materialize. It is just fun to think about what could be. It is a boring time of year and this just a way to pass the time. I did not need to come down on omaha and I apologize. We have to realize that these are opinions and not the most important thing in the world. No need to get upset. Just have fun on the best sports site out there.

I understnd. The point I was making wa that this trade could be stepping stone. I don't even think it will happen. (I don't know all the rules but maybe the Lakers sign AB to an extention at 8 mil per year) add AB to Simmons and Radman you would be in the ballpark. But, I do think it would be good to keep an open mind.

Ok let's say this is a legit rumor. It kills me that this type of information is leaked anyway. It must be the agents because I cannot see the actual GM's letting the information out. Every time these rumors come out it only makes the trade more difficult. I guess it may help the Lakers, but Evans was a good player for us (defense and toughness). He also seemed to play well with KB.

Maggette makes sense. I would not deal for Artest with a young team because he would want to be the lead player and no team should ever have Artest as the leader.

I know one thing for sure, the Bucks need to do something because it looks like Yi will never agree to play for them.
