because of flu-like symptoms that included a fever.
It is not known if he will play tonight, though he has played through worse ailments.
"He usually does," Lakers Coach Phil Jackson said.
Bryant is averaging 31.3 points, 7.3 rebounds in about 38 minutes of playing time in the Lakers' first three games of the season.

| It seems like he's always falling ill...I'm pretty confident he'll still play tonight. And he'll probably play well, it always seems to go like that. |

no way he's always falling ill. Well, if you consider once per season always, then ya, but thats how much Kobe's getting sick. |

| I wonder what happens if he plays poorly, and we lose. Would we be saying he should have sat out the game? |

| I wouldn't be surprise if bynum did get 30 points with or without kobe playing. I mean, who do the Thunder have in the paint that is even decent? |

Kobe would have to be completely bedridden in order to miss the game. I can't remember the last time he missed a game due to illness. He probably always thinks to Michael Jordan's "heroic" game in the Finals when he played despite having the flu and Kobe sucks it up, and plays. Last year Kobe looked really sick during the regular season game at Cleveland and we all remember how he had a huge impact on that game, particularly down the stretch.
For his legacy, Kobe probably doesn't want to be remembered as a player who sat out while sick, where as the "greatest" shooting guard of all-time Michael Jordan would have played. I think it's a bunch of nonsense if he feels that way, but Kobe is the greatest competitor of his era and it wouldn't surprise me if that's how he feels. |

Good point. This is a great opportunity to see if/how Ron can carry the offense with both Pau and Kobe gone.
However, our backcourt looks ugly as hell now. Sasha's going to get more minutes...Mr. 0.7 PPG. |

Sasha Vujacic in his first NBA start, will score 39 points in Kobe's absence! And the fans go wild! |

If Kobe can play a game with severe flu-like symptoms (in which he even had to get injected with IV fluids during halftime), he can surely play tonight.

Good point. Whether or not Kobe plays, Drew should have a big game offensively. The Thunder have Nenad Krstic, a pretty decent center, but none of their bigs can match up to Drew's height and skill set. He's probably gonna demolish them. Now as for having a big game on the other side of the floor, we'll see... |

Sasha Vujacic in his first NBA start, will allow Gerald Wallace to score 39 point's in Kobe's absence sounds more like it! Sasha is a tool!

Kobe’s fine for tonight in Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY — You mightve noticed no update from me about Kobe Bryant being “sick” and “questionable” for tonight. I’m no fool. He’s playing and he’s fine. (And if you want the updates as soon as possible, make sure to follow me at Twitter: KevinDing.)
Bryant’s temperature is normal — not that a temperature would stop him from playing or playing well. More relevant are the results of Pau Gasol’s right-hamstring MRI, but Phil Jackson just said the results haven’t come in yet.
Gasol does feel well enough that he was on the court and doing some light work today.

| Just an FYI, the NBA sent out something a few weeks back regarding players with flu-like symptoms. They have to sit out games now because they're worried they may have H1N1. Really kind of silly, but it's more of a possibility now that Kobe sits out because the league forces him to. |
