Quote:
* One player who has been linked to the Lakers is 5-foot-5 veteran point guard Earl Boykins, who played with Charlotte last season. They also might put out feelers for guard Chris Duhon (Chicago), forward James Jones (Portland) and swingman Bonzi Wells (New Orleans).

| I just don't see Boykins fitting in with us at all. Phil prefers taller guards. Boykins is the shortest guy in the league (I think) and is more of a true point guard who would not mold well into the triangle. The others seem to make much more sense. |

Well, considering Phil likes tall guards, Boykins would fit in perfectly. lol
I would prefer to not sign any of those guys, rather give the minutes to Farmar and Vujacic and Ariza. |

| If I had to pick one of those, my choice would be Bonzi. As much as I love Boykins, not sure he would fit into our system. |

| True, I really didn't understand it either. Why Earl Boykins? Phil likes bigger PGs, and Earl is the smallest one out of all of the PGs in the league. |

| B Wells has always been an underachiever to me. He had the talent to be an All Star and he came up short everywhere he went. New Orleans does not seem to high on keeping him either. |

| I do not see any of these players fitting into the lakers. Maybe Bonzi from about 4 years ago when it still seemed liked he cared about basketball. These players would just be dead weight on the team. Next.... |

| If they sign Boykins, I hope they offer half a contract, 'cuz we'd be getting half a player... |

| The lakers need a PG who plays really good defense. The triangle does not need a true PG. |

| Earl Boykins ? Please. No way we ever sign him. We wouldn't take him for free. Bonzi's attitude is questionable. Great talent, but I don't know. I want James Posey. Perfect off the bench player. |

Dead weight? Apparently you didn't watch any Portland games last year. James Jones is a knock down 3 pt shooter and a long one too at 6'8" with a bigger wingspan. If we lose sasha or are able to move Vlad he would be a great replacement who could play the 3 or 4 against smaller teams |

And you wonder why Boykins has had trouble finding a permanent home these last couple of years. In an age where guards are getting bigger and bigger, Boykins is a dying breed of short ones. He wouldn't fit with us just because of PJ's love for tall guards. Defensively, he would be helpless against most guards due to the staggering height disadvantage (since ya know, he's the shortest active player in the league).
Poor guy. He's such a talented player too. He's a tremendous offensive player who can shoot lights out. And pound for pound, he's one of the strongest guys in the league (a 5'5", 150 lb guy bench-pressing 300 lbs). But again, it's his height that will just really hold him back from being anything more than a productive journeyman. |

bad, that just a rumor, he does not fit in the triangle, he does not have the size to play the triangle.
Just bring a big PG who can play defense, thats something we could use.- |
