The Los Angeles Lakers, whose roster includes Somerset High School graduate Tony Gaffney, are playing a nationally televised NBA preseason game against the Denver Nuggets tonight (Friday) at 10:30 p.m.
The game is to be aired on ESPN.
Gaffney, a 6-foot-8 forward from UMass Amherst, had played in all six Lakers preseason games heading into Thursday night's game, also against the Nuggets. The rookie, wearing No. 23, was averaging 8.5 minutes, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.0 points per game. He was shooting .500 (7-for-14) from the floor and is 3-for-4 at the foul line. He has four blocked shots.
As of Thursday, theLos Angeles roster has been reduced to 14, and published reports have L.A. likely keeping 13 players for the regular season.
Tonight's game is the Lakers last of the preseason. The NBA champion Lakers (5-1 before last night) open the regular season Tuesday at the Los Angeles Clippers.
