There should not be quaranteed contracts. The NFL has the best pay scale. If you don't perform, you get cut and lose the rest of your contract. That is why players have high signing bonuses. To many players are overpaid. After they get their big contract they fall a part. I know if I had a employee in my company not performing at a high level, I would cut him.

Tell that to the players' union. They are the ones making up these things.

If a player like Kwame doesn't perform to the level of his contract, we should be able to cut him and sign another free agent for the money we would of paid him. That is why Football is the number one sport. The owners run the NFL not the players.

how would you feel if your boss can fire you anytime, without a month notice or whatever compensation for the firing? i sort of understand where the player unions are coming from. tho i do agree too that contract length should/could be shorter, to ensure players DO preform within their contract time. dieaster contracts like the grant hill's, steve franis's, brian grant's, already made the last CBA addressing these issues, but i m all for shorter contracts.

This would put a better product for people to watch and help the NBA overall. Think about it. Have you ever notice that players have their best years during contract years. They want to get paid. Under the NFL system, you better play every year or the next year you can be gone. This would push every player to play hard all the time because their pocket book is at stake. Now once you get the big contract you can tank it. It is bad for the game. Why do you think the NBA is losing viewers. It's me first attitude with no incentive to live up to your contract.

I have an even better idea. Let's eliminate the salary cap all together. Then we can be the New York Yankees of the NBA. |

Not with Buss. The Dallas Mavericks (New York) and the Sacramento kings (Boston)would be the big spenders like in baseball. There owners have plenty of money and would do what ever it would take to produce a winner. The Lakers would be the Dodgers, spending a lot of money but not enough to put us over the top. We've haven't had a first round win in the playoffs since the 80's.
