Alas! The coach spoke too soon. Unfortunately for the countless fans of Sasha who have been awaiting his return to the basketball court, yesterday’s game which was won by the Slovenian team (77-6 had to be sat out by Sasha due to a left knee injury. They said it’s nothing serious, but the management didn’t want to risk aggravating it.

Vujacic was pushing the ball to the net, and Macedonia's keeper dug his cleats into his knee and drew a red card from the referees. He then proceeded to roll around on the field grabbing his knee as if it were hanging by a tendon until the stretcher came to haul him off.
His team ended up losing 1-nil. |

| I say, what's to worry. He couldn't play a lick last year with good pins, he would probably play better with one of his legs, and both of his arms (it would certainly help in his shooting technique), in casts. |

Damn, you guys sound like Boston fans, making fun of our guys. If I didn't read the headline, I would think you were talking about Paul Pierce. There are enough players around the league on other teams to hate on, without hating on your own guys.
I for one like Sasha, and think he is going to have a good year. Everyone loved him two years, then he goes cold last year and everyone hates him. He's a shooter, it happens to pure shooters, especially if they loose playing time.
Two years ago, it was Luke who was the biggest bum on this site. A day didn't go by without somebody posting some "Luke Sucks Thread" |

We don't hate him. Most of us are just convinced that he is only a contract-year warrior. Two year ago, it was probably Kwame Brown the smelliest turd in the toilet, and last year it was Space Balls. Walton has had his detractors, but there was never an organized insurrection against him. As for Brick Layer, hypothesizing a slump lasting an entire year, is probably too much for most of us to believe. Much easier to believe that his contract year was a fluke, and that we saw the real Vujacic again last year. |

| Sasha's Knee, Tony Parkers anchle, that's why they should not allow these players to participate in off season bball. If the players want to play for their country and get hurt, then they should forfit all of their salary until they are medically cleared to play. |

I completly agree that he was a complete turd last year.
Hereks where I disagree with you....
For one, Luke was blasted constantly, not only here but by most Laker fans as much if not more than VRad or Kwame..
Two, to say that Sasha was a "contract year warrior" assumes that his effort was somehow different from two years ago to last year. I don't think it was at all. If anything I think he was pressing last year and getting aheadof himself. A lot of that has to do with how many minutes you get with the first team, easier looks.
A shooter doesn't just go "well its a contract year,, I better make all my shots"
Likewise, he doesn't get paid and say "well I'm paid, so I can start missing again"
When a guy is playing for a contract, it is a motivation and effort thing.
Sasha is a pure shooter, timing, rythem and confidence are the keys to being a great shooter. Has nothing to do with his contract.. |

I completely agreed with this post. It makes me furious that players need to recover from the NBA season, work on the weak parts of their game etc - but instead are allowed to go running around like idiots wearing themselves out during the summer and getting hurt. It is really foolish that the teams that pay them so much for their services can't stop this nonsense.
I would extend this to the Olympics. Why do guys like Kobe have to go and risk weariness and injury when they have obligations to their team. It makes no sense to me. He still hasn't gotten that damn finger fixed from two years ago.
I really like the part where the above poster mentions taking away their NBA salary until they are cleared 100% to play at the same level until the injury is resolved. I would go a step further. I would like the NBA to take away their pay until they recover and fine them for every day missed on their squad because of injury due to being a dumbass and playing for Euro tourneys and other such nonsense. |

Of course, you can be right. I certainly have no patent on knowing everything. Actually, I hope very much that you are right! In the meantime, I am just an obdurate dullard that kind of figures that "if it quacks, it is a duck"! For me, I look at what people do, and not listen to what they say. Vujacic, was not a very good player until his contract year, and then had a bust-out year, got his contract, and then immediately returned to the pre-contract year suckage. This may mean something, and it may not. We will see this year!!! If he sucks this year, like he did last year, then I am right. If he doesn't, then you are right. |

Good call, we'll just have to wait and see. I always tend to be optimistic when it comes to my team, cause if we have a solid Sasha that can play well until the 8 min mark of the second and fourth quarters, we are pretty tough to beat.
I always liked Sasha, number one becuase we drafted him, and two because of the pure hatred he had for the Celtics. |

Rule out the contract excuse, he played hard enough to almost offset his anemic shooting percentage with "all around" play. He played less minutes and averaged more assists. Oh, and didn't turn the ball over!
He played 80 games yet commit so few turnovers it was the equivalent of throwing the ball away ONCE for 32 games straight, and being PERFECT for the next 48! The guy set a career high A/TO ratio with 3.5, that ranks among highest in the league!
Talk about bad shooting, he hit a cold streak in February shooting 31% for an entire month. Now your talking about a guy who takes around 5-6 shots a game. When you you live 23feet away from the basket, those stretches are the difference between shooting 42% and 39% overall.
Last season he didn't have a cold month, and he took 6-8 shots a game. Big difference. |

Sasha is going to play this year? After that despicable 2008/2009 performance from "The (broken) Machine" I figured Phil would just bench him and roll with a 4 guard rotation of Kobe, Fisher, Brown, and Farmar. |

Yeah, I kinda liked seeing Farmar AND Brown playing together on the court during the playoffs. |
