No AVALANCHE, you make some sense!, do you need your meds? cause thats juss SCREWED that you dont think SA will be in the post season, theyll prolly be even 1,2,3,4.
"GETTING OLDER" thats juss GARBAGE, im an LA fan and im 15 yrs old, and I EVEN know thats STUPID.
TONY PARKER-24 yrs old
MANU GINOBILI-29 yrs old
TIM DUNCAN-30 yrs old
BRUCE BOWEN- 35
this isnt and old team losing "skills" this is what every franchise dies for, this kinda team, they heav a great blend of vets and youngs, meaning "experience". DUNCAN, GINOBILI, PARKER are ALL prolly gonna be allstars next year.
AND, "DRAMITICALLY" decreasin every year, ok if you call winning a CHAMPIONSHIP two years ago, then being ranked high in the west and losing to the 2ND best team in the west(DALLAS) the next season dramitically decresing, your basketball ILLITERATE. *** oh and thats why the NBA changed the playoff format, SO that TOP TEAMS DONT MEET IN THE PLAYOFFS EARLY. so losing in the 2nd round might seem mediocre but just remember they were the top 2 seeds battling it out (DALLAS).
SO IF YOUR GONNA MAKE A POST LIKE THAT GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE, CAUSE THIS IF FO PPL WHO KNOW BASKETBAL. AND THATS STRAIGHT UP FROM FROM A 15 YR OLD |

Just for grins, I'd like to give the PERs out for those members of Dallas and the Lakers who played last year. Also, I've added those players WITH PERs who have joined the teams this season. If you are not comfortable with PERs see http://lakers.topbuzz.com/index.php?nam ... &t=281 .
I'm sorry to give such an incomplete post, but my daughter and grandchildren arrive tomorrow, and I'm still preparing their rooms. As soon as I can, I want to take a closer look at the Mavs and the Lakers.

Well C.H.A.R.G.E Avalanche I respect the TOTAL BIAS ranking fo the second rank, although I am a Laker fan myself. Also, no San Antonio? All of you might not agree and I respect it and I also want to be a good member of this community so I'm fine with anything you'd say unless it's not against me.

This analysis will be done on the basis of one game between the Mavs and Lakers in which the Lakers' lost. If the game were replayed during the 06/07 season, then how might it turn out? We don't want to use a game which the Lakers' won, because such a game is of no significance for understanding how a reversal between the two teams might take place.
The Mavs clearly won the one spot in the Western Conference. So, how might that change THIS year?
The game chosen will be the Feb. 7th, 2006 game in which the Mavs beat the Lakers 102 to 87.
One difference is we will apply the 2006/07 rosters and make some guesses based on the players's 2005/06 PERs.
The analysis will be done position by position (SGs, PGs, SFs, PFs and C).
The PG spot clearly goes to Dallas. In the Feb. 7th game Dallas got at least 20 points from its PGs while the Lakers only got at most 5. The defense of the PGs for Dallas was also likely better. Now, we have two new PGs, Shammond Williams and Jordan Farmer. To expect them to be equal to the Dallas group of PGs seems a far stretch to me, but we should expect more than 5pts from our new PGs, and hopefully some better defense.
PG Jason Terry-----------------18.4 Smush Parker----------------13.3
PG Devin Harris-----------------17.5 Shammond Williams-----?
PG Anthony Johnson--------14.3 Jordan Farmar------------?
Now, just as much better, at least, as the PG position of the Dallas club is, is the SG position is for the Lakers. And, I think, all of us would say that we're a lot better both defensively and offensively. Kobe will finally get some rest with Mo Evans backing him up, and Evans is considered a very good defensive addition. All the offensive production at the SG position came from the 24 pts scored by Kobe Bryant. We would hope that that would no longer be the case with the addition of Evans and Williams. Adrian Griffin scored 4 points for the Mavs and the addition of Buckner and Ager can only help. But, the addition of Evans and Williams seems like it will more than offset any improvement the Dallas team might have made.
SG Greg Buckner------------------11.5 Kobe Bryant-------------------28
SG Maurice Ager-----------------------? Maurice Evans-----------------14.1
SG ------------------------------------------ Sasha Vujacic-------------------8.3
In the Feb. 7th game, the SF position was clearly won by the Mavs. Dallas got 36 pts. from their SFs, while we got 14 pts from Odom (who was playing mostly SF that night, and 10 from Devean George who is now with the Mavs. This seems an area that is really murky, but I would expect the Mavs to hold the advantage.
SF Josh Howard---------------19.3 Vladimir Radmanovic---------14.2
SF Jerry Stackhouse---------14.5 Luke Walton-------------------11.6
SF Devean George-----------11.4
The PF spot would usually be thought to be clearly won by Dallas. But, the Lakers had Nowitzki's number in most of the games they played with Dallas. Nowitzki scored 26 on us this night, but Cook outscored him with a 28 point night. Cook only played 33 mins. that night to Nowitzki's 36 mins. I would expect Phil Jackson to keep ahold of Nowitzki, and offset him. How, I don't know. The good news is that Cook has been focusing on his defense this summer. I call the PF spot a wash but many will disagree.
PF Dirk Nowitzki----------------28.1 Lamar Odom-----------------17
PF Austin Croshere------------15.3 Brian Cook--------------------15.7
PF Mensah-Bonsu-------------------? Ronny Turiaf-----------------12.3
The C spot clearly goes to the Lakers. And, for the championship it wasn't so much Shaq that put them in a hole, but Alonzo Mourning. Diop and Dampier can really do a number on non-mobile centers, like Shaq. But, quicker centers with good shot blocking capability clearly is a Mav weakness. The 11.7 PER for Kwame is very deceptive, as he was outplaying Mihm by a lot at C towards the latter part of the season. And, Mihms PER is 15.3.
C DeSagana Diop------------11.5 Kwame Brown---------------11.7
C Erick Dampier--------------13.9 Andrew Bynum--------------7.3
C D.J. Mbenga---------------13.3 Chris Mihm---------------------15.3
So, how would the Feb. 7th game between Dallas and L.A. come out today? There is not enough analyses here to answer that question. But, clearly, the margin of victory for Dallas would be less, and it could be argued that the Lakers' would win the game. |

THIS IS NOT MY GUESS. IT'S TRACY GRAVEN'S FROM HOOPSWORLD
Here is the prediction for the Western Conference made by Tracy Graven of HoopsWorld:
WESTERN CONFERENCE
1. Dallas Mavericks
8. Denver Nuggets
2. Phoenix Suns
7. Houston Rockets
3. Los Angeles Lakers
6. Los Angeles Clippers
4. San Antonio Spurs
5. New Orleans Hornets
The only argument I have with that prediction at this point, is the Phoenix Suns at number 2. I honestly believe there is no way (short of them getting Doug Christie). But, if I'm right, then it should be the Lakers at number 2 by his prediction. |
