Whats interesting is how LeBron will do against the proven LeBron stoppers of last year!
I mean, LeBron averaged 24 PPG, 5 RPG, 2.5 APG. 40% FG vs Houston in 36 MPG
and
LeBron averaged a shocking 19.5 PPG, 8.5 RPG, and 8.0 APG, 31% FG in 41 MPG!
I mean, I knew Kobe and Trev did a great job on LeBron but 19 PPG is very odd for a dude like LeBron! |

It's simple. If Lebron can't run you over or intimidate you, half of his game goes to hell. He shoots a measly 37% from midrange and 34% from 3 when he jacks em up. You know how Ron is.
If nobody has the nickname "The Hitman" in the NBA Ron Artest would be considered the Laker's newly hired Hitman.

| It looks like Ron is slimming down to me personally. He's always been a 250-260 pound guy which amazed me because he plays sf at that weight. I'd like to see him at 230-240 for the Lakers, let him be our Rick Fox of old. Now you're talking about a great defensive player who has better quickness because he is 30 after all. |

Harry,
I'm with you. I'm glad that Ron is working out more BUT I need him in that gym on the court. Also how about in the training room watching tapes etc.. Not that he won't but these area's need to be worked on also. |

The scary thing about Artest is, He really has been trying to focus on both ends of the court and his defense slipped the past couple of seasons. Now, with the lakers you can imagine they are gonna tell him that they want him to be a defensive stopper and hit shots. He is gonna be closing out alot of stars this year. We potentially could have two or 3 people on the all defensive team this year.
I cant wait to see how he is gonna fit in the offense. Kobe should move Artest in and workout during the summer. |

| No one can really question Ron Artest's work ethic. I don't remember the last time I saw him look tired or out of shape on the court. He's a physical beast and though he's not as quick as many younger guards/forwards, he's definitely not slow either. I mean, the guy is a rock solid, muscular 260 pound monster. He's stronger than most guys in the league who are 6'10" or 7'0". If I was a guard or forward in the NBA, Ron Artest would be at the absolute top of my list of guys who I WOULDN'T want guarding me. |

Yeah LBJ is 270 so Ron is right up there. But better if he stays agile and not get too bulky. And whoever said LBJ plays through intimidation is absolutely right. Much the way Shaq did/does. When pple are effective at guarding him his game is off. As we see his shooting % are not great as it is. If he can't run over you or through you, he is not effective. He plays the game like it's football, his original sport. Kobe is finesse, chops and game. He can beat you so many ways and looks pretty doing it. LBJ is all power. Not the same game at all, and that's why I say no matter what stats he puts up he will never match what Kobe does. He is a gifted athlete no question. But not a skills player to me. The best other one of those around to me, other than Kobe, is Wade. But at LBJ's position and comparable size I'd say Melo, who's game I've always preferred to LBJ's since they both entered the league. Really a shame 'Melo has had to rise under LBJ's armpit and not get nearly the attention he deserves. The league should pay more attention to him instead of shining the entire star vehicle on James. It's really ridiculous the ball washing he gets. If I had to choose between them on a team I put together I'd take 'Melo all day. Who is also a physical specimen btw.
This Artest move was huge for us. If the league hadn't put the cap down the toilet and we could've kept Ariza and Odom and gotten Artest, that would been a team for the ages. Ah well.... |

I respect your opinion, though I don't know too many people who'd take Melo over Lebron. Still, Melo impressed the hell out of me with his defense in the playoffs. He fought and scrapped like a true warrior and I think he's a remarkable player.
As far as choosing between the two players, I'd give the edge to Lebron because of the King's superior passing and leadership skills. Melo is more or less on par with James as a scorer and rebounder, but Lebron is a much better leader. That's the one knock on Melo's game is that he'll score a bunch of points and play hard, but he provides little to no leadership. That's why he needed a true leader like Billups in order to finally get out of the first round in the playoffs.
Still, from a Laker fan perspective, I'm not afraid of Melo or Lebron because the Lakers now have a player in Artest who can defend them as well as anyone in the game today. Lebron and Melo won't get a break against the Lakers because even when Ron is resting on the bench, we can always have Kobe switch over and guard Melo or the King. At ALL TIMES, they're gonna have an elite Laker defender busting their @$$ all game long and that's a tough pill to swallow.
Artest also factors in to a potential Finals rematch with the Lepers of Boston because the Lakers now have the means to simultaneously shut down Pierce and Allen; something they could NOT do in the 2008 Finals because Kobe obviously couldn't guard them both at the same time. |

Ron Artest is a scary man. Lol. If I was forced to pick a fight with an NBA player, Ron would be the absolute LAST person on that list. The intimidation factor he brings is off the scales.
Interestingly enough, Sasha would probably be my first choice in choosing an NBA player to beat down. LOL |

| I think Ron should do more calistenics and not put on too much mass to slow him down. Matching up with LBJ and Melo he needs to be quick as well as strong. |

Agreed, but you can't get mad at him when he's working as hard as he is. But, even though, I agree that he'll need to work on keeping up with guys like Melo and LeBron, otherwise they'll zip right past him with their quickness. |

| It seems like he is working on his muscle mass too much. Hope he doesn't overdo it, because he can't lose his lateral movement. |

| It looks like he's actually losing muscle mass and getting ripped, which means he'll be much quicker. |

| Only a few of you have actually noticed that he looks leaner. In the past Ron actually looked like a big guy, he absolutely looks leaner now, can't say meaner because he's always been mean. If he is at 240 then we are golden. |

yeah 240-245 would be a perfect weight for Ron Ron..
lets hope he stays focused, we need him to funnel our defense this year. |

| yea he may not need muscle and strength cause he has it already, but i lik hiz desire to get better and at something and shows he goin go balls out diz year for ring. He goin bring dat tough defense type playa kinda reminds me of dennis rodman althogh i am young buck and didnt see rodman play i seen all the classic pistons, bulls games. He reminds me so much lik rodman as (A PLAYA) LOL |

He doesn't look 'big' for lack of a better term. I think he will be fine. |

Carmelo only took Ariza to school this year, but next year Artest won't be a push-over, I'm so excited to see Artest play for the Lakers. |

But in all seriousness, Artest is a beast. I hope he man handle's LeBron.

Honestly no. The only thing that I take that's foreign is caffeine. I just eat very well and train very hard 7 days a week. Run cardio 7 and lift weights 5. It's basically just a question of how determined and serious someone is to get where they want. |

Dang man. I give you props. I got kids and a wife that consume the majority of my time. I gotta get rid of this mini pot belly and man boobs that seem to consume most of my body. I used to lift back in high school, but after college I got a desk job and well, just didn't take good care of myself as far as exercise and eating (greasy a'ss Mexican food). |

Thanks man. All it takes is an hour a day, whether it be extra early before or late after work, that's what I was told that made me turn things around. |
