| remember in the 07-08 playoffs and throughout the year, sasha vujacic was on fire. there was no pressure of another player on the court who could take his minutes. if ariza leaves, this can be a bounceback year for vujacic. he wont have to worry about someone stealing his minutes (assuming the lakers dont sign anyone else), and he wont feel as much pressure. he may shoot with more confidence, knowing nobody will steal minutes if he misses. what do you guys think? |

| He flat out sucked last year. It wasn't a matter of some1 taking his minutes. He just stunk up the whole joint. |

If Ariza leaves, i want him gone too, i think it was Mitch jumping the gun that is causing us to have a problem signing Trevor
If not Vujacic has to step up no doubt |

Well, I do think that a lot of Vujacic's success in 07-08 (setting Laker franchise records in shooting, etc..) and Ariza's success this year needs to be credited to Bryant, Gasol, etc...so there's a chance Vujacic might be able to rekindle what he used to be able to do by getting those wide-open shots.
However, it seems as if the Lakers will sign Ron Artest if they can't get Ariza, so Vujacic will be in the same role. Meaning that he won't get wide-open shots, so I say no. He probably won't bounce back... |

| Well I was trying to reserve negativity for a while, given our great year.... but yeah Sasha imitated Brian Cook-like production last season. I don't think it's about the minutes he wasn't getting. It's knowing that he has a contract and lives it up in LA. He was not shooting well before, then shot incredible right before the contract signing, then right back to not hitting shots. I actually think he's a genuinely passionate dude, but in the wrong way. He needs to use his energy to focus on the shot better. There's no way someone can routinely hit shots in practice and mess up that bad in the game itself (mostly on open looks). Bottomline is he's chillin.. and hoping his histrionics on the courts will substitute for lack of focus in execution. |

| Vujacic is a classic, Signed Contract, Retired. He can't handle pressure. If he had more pressure on him to make his shots because they were even more needed, he would just fail more. Can't make a purse from sow's ear. |

| Well, we're gonna have to see how he does at the start of the season. If he stinks up the joint again, then trade him by the trading deadline next year. |

| Dump him now before its too late. Even if he hits his shot he can't play defense. |

He actually plays decent defense...not great defense, but decent. He harasses the opponent quite a bit. Only problem is he gets called for a lot of ticky-tack fouls. |

As long as he argues every single call he will continue to get a lot of ticky-tack fouls. |

Obviously the basis of your thesis being "what the hey, it must be scientifically impossible to be worse than last year. There must be some sort of law of physics that would prevent it, isn't there"? Personally, I would not bet my testicles on it... |

honestly, if anything(from my experience), there would be almost NO pressure on sasha because trevor is there and back it up when sasha plays bad
but now that trevor is gone, sasha knows that ppl is gonna be depending on sasha to play worth his minutes, that is where the real pressure is from
anyone agrees? |

| When the Lakers take out the papers and trash, let's hope they throw Sasha in there too. I really hate that guy. Period. |

Nope because the Lakers just got Artest and he is going to play even more minutes than Ariza. Maybe the Lakers can have Brown or even Morrison sub in for Kobe instead of Sasha. I wan't Sasha serving Gatorade or dressed as a Laker mascot next season. |

| well, obviously artest isn't going to play right away, its gonna take sime time before he learns the plays and the defense, so therefore sasha will probably be given more minutes. |

around July 22nd is when the Slovenian basketball thing starts, if he stinks it up there make no mistake Mitch and Phil are taking notes. Nobody will take Sasha via trade unless they are stupid.
Best thing we can do to revamp his game is put guys around him that draw double teams. Similar to the luxuries Ariza had this season. Sasha can do what Ariza did only he could do it for an entire season. I'm talking about shooting, of course Sasha is not on Ariza's level anywhere else. |

Too many people are trying to compare Ariza and Sasha.....there is no point.
First off they play different positions. Ariza was in a position where he was asked to start @ SF and comliment the first team. When you are playing with guys like Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, and Odom, who can all get to the hoop, you are going to get open looks. He reminds me of D George in 05. Artest is a clear upgade to Ariza, and its not close.
Sasha's role is to spell KB @ SG, knock down open jumpers, and be a pest on defense. If he is doing this, he is doing exactly what PJ expects from him. IMO, he did two of three last year, he just didn't knock down open jumpers, which in turn meant he did not play in crunch time, like he did in 08. The better he plays, the more time he will get with the starters, which means more open looks. I thought last year he was pressing a little bit, trying to get shots off with hands in his face.
I think he will have a bounce back year. Shooters like Shasha are wierd, thier game depends solely on thier level of confidence. |
