I believe early on, we had a game thread like this on LTB.. where we would have to choose between 2 options... kinda like "Bruce Bowen, or Shane Battier" or, "2004 Pistons, or 2008 Boston Celtics". Now, it can be anything as long as its basketball related (Even like: Skyhook, or Fadeway).
The next poster has to pick, reply, and elaborate.
Sorry to repost this but I couldnt seem to find that thread. If someone SOMEHOW finds the thread Im talking about, and merges it, I will deeply thank them.
Anyway, Ill start:
Derrick Rose, or Rajon Rondo? |

Derrick Rose - Watching these two in the playoffs this year, they were pretty close to an even match, the only difference is that Rose is a rookie doing this and Rondo is in his what, third year? I'd go with the rookie on this one.
Pau Gasol or Tim Duncan? |

Derrick Rose for me please.
Rondo has indeed blossomed into a good player; capable of controlling the game with his all around talent - he almost averaged a triple double against the Bulls. His shot is suspect but his drives to the basket either results in a score or an assist to a willing teammate. He was considered to be a MIP candidate and is fast rising to be one the better PGs of the league.
Now why Rose? Because of the upside, because of the athleticism, because of his demeanor, because he is the next best PG. He has exceeded expectations in his rookie season. If he will improve on his shooting, he will be unstoppable. |

kb24_4life, Id take the best PF of all-time over the best Spaniard of all-time.
LosAngelesLakers, D-Wade. I can definitely make a case for him being the best player in the league. Many will disagree with me putting him over LeBron, but Wade is just OUTRAGEOUS. The closest thing to Kobe right now, and already has a ring and a Finals MVP over LBJ (Deservingly so, picking Miami up being down 0-2). In my heart I believe LeBron is overhyped and overrated, while undersized guards like Wade put up better numbers (Using LBJ fans' logic against them). But Im not gonna get into the LBJ=Overrated debate right now...
Hinrich or Rondo as the bets defensive PG in the game |

How about this one:
Who would you rather have to supplant Derek Fisher as a starter, Jordan Farmar or Shannon Brown? |

Shannon Brown for me. Farmar is streaky at best, fish is battling father time.

I'll take Agent Zero - No question. Baron is coming off his worst season since his first or second year in the league and seems to have his best days behind him. I think nobody in the league has more to prove right now than Gilbert Arenas. Gilbert "Agent Zero" Arenas looked impressive in the limited minutes he played at the end of this 08/09 season. I look for Agent Zero to be back in a BIG WAY in 2010.

Rose over Rajon: the sky is the limit.
Gasol over Duncan: in close one. Duncan is better but he is getting very near the end of the road. Pau has good, prime years left.
Williams over CP3: While Paul is more incendiary, Williams has the size and is a better defender. The hardest pick for me was this one. Paul really is so great at what he does.
Staudimire over Aldridge in a close one. Staudimire has his problems but man he can put up 40 and 18 and win a game all by his lonesome and has done alot. Aldridge hasn't show this yet.
LBJ over Wade: Need I elaborate?
Brown over Fish and Jordan for the reasons Lakerbloke said.
Arenas over Baron: I agree with Lakeshowsd, I have a feeling he is on the downside.
Here is one that seems a no brainer but my answer will eventually be proven right or show that I can at times have no brain at all: Drew vs Howard.
I am taking Drew based on what he showed right before he got hurt both years. During those few precious weeks he was about as good defensivly as Superman, rebounded just as well and showed offense moves and skills Dwight can only dream of even now. To make it more enticing for me, he is much larger than Howard too. Even if I were an Orlando fan and I had gotten to see Drew play like he did before he got hurt, I would answer this question the same way. This is not because I am a Lakers fan. I think Dwight does have a definate physical limit in what he can do and what he can become. I think Drew has none at all except his health.
Drew or Howard? |

Drew can DEFINITELY be a DOMINANT center in the league one day...but if we are talking right now, its D12 no question.
If both in their primes, Id go with Drew. Drew has the Olajuwon footwork, and definitely has more weapons in his arsenal offensively.
Gasol or Jamison |

Gasol: Jamison is an awkward type of player who could get mixed up on defense.

Brandon Roy no doubt. This kid is something special. Ray is great in his own right but once he gets near the rim, his skills are severely limited. Roy can drive, shoot and get his teammates open. Give me B.Roy.

At the moment, for me, the MVP is Turkoglu despite the fact maybe he doesnt win.....if I would have to decide for a Laker, at the moment PAU.
I can't forget that Kobe almost lost (himself) the second game, lost the third, and almost the fourth. Thanks to god he realized and gave the ball to Dereck |

| Right now, I would have to choose Pau Gasol as the MVP. But without Kobe being the "bully" that he is, this Laker team would fold under pressure. |

Tayshaun Prince
Prince can run a team and isn't known as "Crash".
And my Finals MVP is Kobe. He just does sooo much for this team and keeps them going. He doesn't always tie a pretty ribbon around it, but he gets the job done(except for Game 3).
Also, someone asked about Shannon Brown on Farmar, and my answer is Farmar. I still think he can be a good PG, he just needs to be named the starter for next season.
Now................

West by a landslide, however, I'm pretty sure West is not as effective without Paul. Randolph has not proven anything except that he is a cancer on the teams that he goes to.

From the point of loving him as a player: Kobe.
From the point of the player itself: Mike.

1) Bosh
2) Not completely sure. Wade will be 29 and Kobe will be 32 in 2011. No decision for me. Kobe can still play at a high level at age 32...no question about that. Wade will probably also still be a great player, but its looking like he is turning prone...especially with that shoulder.

Def. Shane Battier.
Pietrus is on the verge of becoming what they say, a "Kobe-Stopper", but give me the best perimeter defender in the league along with his presence in the lockerroom any day of the week over a good player that lacks experience though.

Butler...
Who would you rather build a franchise around: CP3 or Wade? |

That's a difficult choice, and I think it depends on the team. If your team is starving for some offense, one would have to chose Bynum, who has some great post moves and a shooting touch that Howard will probably never really develop... But if it's defense you are in search of, the obvious choice would be Howard who will destroy players, block shots, and pull down boards. I am biased so I will say Bynum, unless he proves to be injury prone, because I think Bynum will develop better defensive game, but I don't think Howard can ever get the shooting touch Bynum already has.

Kobe or Gasol Finals MVP? (Assuming we win)
How disgruntled will Kobe be, if Pau gets it??? Pau's play certainly has been Herculean, but I cant see them giving it to anyone but Kobe.
Blake Griffin or Ricky Rubio?
At the moment, for me, the MVP is Turkoglu despite the fact maybe he doesnt win.....if I would have to decide for a Laker, at the moment PAU.
I can't forget that Kobe almost lost (himself) the second game, lost the third, and almost the fourth. Thanks to god he realized and gave the ball to Dereck
man thats cold...u really think Pau deserves it over Kobe??? Thats some real bias. |

Tough one... Im gonna go with Hakeem! Hakeem was also a dominant center and swept Shaq's Magic in 95. Might I add, no other center has EVER had the same footwork as Olajuwon!

...and besides, Shaq is a moron. Its time he starts acting like a 37 year old.
