Well, since the Newspapers are so silent these last 45 or so days before training camp opens, I thought I'd try out a "pilferings from other blogs" thread.
Here is an interesting post, not mine or any of yours (I would hope) :
"A (Harrington)l was a ball stopper on offense who shot a fairly low percentage for a post player, plus his rebounding for a power forward was pretty bad and his defense was terrible. Normally we actually played better team basketball and won more games when Al was injured. "
If this Atlanta fan's analysis is anywhere near true, why are we so interested in A. H.? How was Al's defense? Is Al injury prone? Are his injuries a "good thing" for the team?
What stats for defesnsive prowess does anyone on the board like. I personally like the over/under stat, but usually can't find it.
Remember, this analysis comes straight from the horses, er fans, mouth. |

Neat link on Cook from another blogger.
http://www.lincolncourier.com/story.asp ... amp;SEC=10
Part of the article is:
"It's my contract year and I'm playing for a job, and I'm talking with the Lakers now about an extension. They said they want to go through camp and see how I've improved in the summer before we do anything."
Despite the injury to his hand, Cook has worked on several different areas of his game since the end of last season.
"I've been watching a lot of game tape and working out, trying to make my body stronger and quicker. I've lost a lot of weight and am down to about 242 or 243 (pounds) right now," said Cook, who was listed at 258 pounds last season. "I've learned I have to be able to run with these quicker guys.
"I'm watching film because I want to know how teams are playing me. Since I can shoot, they're going to run at me, so I'm working on being able to put the ball on the floor to be a playmaker, to get the ball to the open man. I'm also working on improving my defense, being a good team defender and drawing charges, grabbing rebounds." |

An Aug 20 about 12 p.m. post of an Atlanta fan:
"LA is the front runner. Those expiring contracts are the key. Atlanta does not need to take all 3 though."
NOTE: I think what the fan means is that we (Atlanta) wouldn't have to take McKie's contract. A suggestion has been made on the web that L.A. would buy out McKie's contract (as a good will gesture?) and then send him to Atlanta. Or, in other words, ship the money for McKies contract to Atlanta |
