The Lakers will tip off against the Hornets in about twenty hours (from writing). I created the thread for the last one, and the Lakers snapped their losing streak....
Anyway, my prediction:
I expected the Lakers to lose this one last week, and nothing has changed. They would've been well-suited to blow out the Grizzlies so Kobe could've had some rest, but he was forced to play 40+ tonight.
I can't blame the Lakers if they lose this one, and I expect them to. Paul should be dominant. He's too quick for Fisher and Vujacic, so the defense will probably be scrambling all night.
Hornets by about 10-15 points. Paul drops a 20-10 spot.
Something like 112-98.... |

I disagree. Paul will have his typical game but if our bigs step it up then we can pull out a win. Pau and Bynum can confuse Chandler and West is shorter than Pau. Not to mention the Hornets have no depth and their bench is very short on talent.
Our PG woes will be exposed again and that will hopefully lead to a trade sooner rather than later.
I say Lakers by 7.
Oh, and Lamar has another 'Lamar' game. |

True, ideally, I'd pick the Lakers over the Hornets most times. They match up very well with them.
But the Lakers will probably be a little tired, so I don't think Gasol will be in his typical form, and that's perfectly understandable.
I'm getting to the point with Bynum where I have no idea what to expect.... |

I'm not too sure on this game. It seems that whenever the Lakers square off against the Hornets, they get a big early lead and then in the fourth quarter the Hornets get it to around 5 points, but the Lakers pull it together for a win.
Fisher played over 40 minutes in tonights game, I believe, and Kobe played nearly 40, so I'm not too sure how they are gonna play against the Hornets. What I do expect to see is Gasol and Bynum having decent games. Well, Gasol should have a good game and Bynum should have an alright game.
As for Chris Paul, he should get his 20+ points, 10+ assists, and 3+ steals against the Lakers, but I still expect the Lakers to win this game.
Lakers by 14

I thought Bynum played well enough later in the game considerin the early foul trouble. He has to work his stuff out, that's obvious but I don't think this is going to happen in every game. Sometimes on the road you get some questionable calls but for now I'm not worried at all about Bynum.
The players will be tired, yes, but that's not an excuse for them to ease off. I saw that look on Kobe's face after that dunk at the end of the game, and I haven't seen that look since the number 8 jersey was put to rest. That was a vintage Kobe look right there. Not to mention he has been shooting pretty well lately and 14-23 is very, very nice.
I still say Lakers are going to win, th players no they can't take it easy and our bench has to capatilise on their strength over the Hornets bench. I expected the Lakers to let the Grizzlies get over 100, if not 110 tonight, but they shut them down completely in the 4th and I hope they can carry that on into the game against the Hornets and then prepare themselves for the Celtics. |

1) IMPORTANT THING for tommorow:
Bynum has to stay out of foul trouble. |

Definately, he had some good games against the Hornets in his career and he usually plays well against Chandler and uses his size effectively. |

Lakers-Hornets Preview
The New Orleans Hornets have been one of the best defensive teams in the NBA this season. On Tuesday night, they'll get a good barometer of how good they really are when they host the league's top scoring team -- the Los Angeles Lakers.
New Orleans (16-7) is seeking its season-high fifth straight win following a 99-90 home victory over Sacramento on Saturday. Chris Paul, the Western Conference player of the week, scored a season-best 34 points with nine assists and eight steals, also a season high. He has at least one steal in an NBA-record 107 consecutive games.
The Hornets had 11 steals in all, and scored 25 points off 18 Sacramento turnovers.
"We were smothering the ball screens," said Paul, who had 30 points and 13 assists in a 93-86 home loss to the Lakers on Nov. 12.
The Hornets have not allowed more than 94 points in any of their last eight games, improving their average points allowed for the season to 91.5 -- third-fewest in the NBA. The Lakers, meanwhile, are scoring a league-best 107.3 points per game.
"All the talk is about the Lakers, Celtics and Cleveland, and rightfully so," said New Orleans coach Byron Scott, whose team has won 11 of its last 13 games. "We are getting better and better each month, and that's the important thing."
James Posey definitely has been improving, averaging 15.5 points -- well above his 9.9 season average -- and shooting 68.8 percent from the field during the Hornets' four-game winning streak. He missed Monday's practice with a slight calf sprain, but is expected to play on Tuesday.
Peja Stojakovic has missed the last two games with back spasms, but could return after going through a limited practice on Monday.
While the Hornets go for their seventh straight win at the Ford Center, Los Angeles (22-5) will try for back-to-back wins to conclude its four-game road trip. The Lakers avoided a third straight loss Monday, defeating Memphis 105-96. Kobe Bryant scored 10 of his 36 points in the final 3:08 as Los Angeles erased a 93-88 deficit.
"We know what we want to do," said Bryant, averaging 38.5 points and shooting 51.9 percent in his last two games. "For a young team, they are still kind of searching for what that identity is going to be. For us, we've been there, done that. So, it's just a matter of how well we executed."
Bryant missed 10 of 15 shots and scored just 20 points against the Hornets in November, but hit a critical 3-pointer with 1:08 remaining to stop a 17-4 New Orleans run.
Third-year guard Jordan Farmar won't be available off the Los Angeles bench for awhile. Farmar tore his lateral meniscus in last Friday's 89-87 loss to Miami and may need surgery.
"We're not happy about it, obviously, but this is what we go through in an NBA season," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. |

| Let chris paul kill in pts and score. When he does that we win but if he gets everyone involved like drive and kicks to an open peja or the lob to chandler and elbow shot to west we r screwed. Pick and roll game has killed us past 5-6 games need to play better d tonight. I thought what lamar did last night was good. Tried to go to work even though he struggled u can see he had a chip on his shoulder which was awesome he is my second favorite laker dont care what anyone says.. Im a say we win by 5 Kobe has 30, gasol 22 and 10 bynum 16 and 12, lamar 13-14 off the bench and ariza and sasha spark it up with 25 combined! |

Tonight, our poor defenseless, allergic to all Hymenoptera, players mindlessly enter the Hive of Death. The Whore Nuts have been sharpening their stingers, and replenishing their anti-Laker venom for long enough, and they are anxious to plunge their death darts into the flaccid, formless, softitude of the poor Lakers non-existant (sic) defense.
A win here tonight has about as much chance as has a snowball of surviving in hell. The Whores are absolutely certain that they will spend an effortless night, of total repose, blithely roasting our marshmallows over their burning fire...
Woe is us.

| Based on the trend I am seeing with there play on the road these days... There is no way they win this game. New Orleans plays better Defense than us, and we cant defend the pick and roll; which is there bread and butter. Bynum looked like he lost confidence. |

Don't be deceived by the appearance of some of our postings. Just about every poster on this site would donate his left nut to make the team better. As for me, I always make disastrous pre-game predictions for scaramantic reasons - to anti-jinx my team! You are new, and so you don't know it. |

Yeah, I used to be one of those types of fans. Our Lakers are unstoppable, we can't be beat, we have the whole package, etc. etc. Now that they have been disappointing us, I have came back down to earth and have become one of their critics. They have the potential, but they lack the discipline right now and are in a pretty bad funk. Now that Farmar is out, it leaves more question marks as to how this team will respond and play with him missing! |

Vuj,
Who knows? This is just what my crazy head tells me to do. I have always been extremely superstitious about the Lakers. Kind of strange, because I am not normally superstitious about anything. Just the Lakers. I sometimes convince myself that if I watch the game that I, personally, will jinx them. How is that for giving my little self much too much importance in the cosmic scheme of things!! I guess everybody on earth is dippy for at least one thing - mine, is the Lakers... Many have been the times that I have taped a game from one of my machines in a back room and with the volume down, and not watched the game, and then going on line about three hours later and "peeked" at the score (you know, like a little kid looking at some horror film), before deciding if I was even going to watch the tape - obviously dependant on if we won or lost. |

| Lakers had their hands full with the Grizz last night, so I predict that the Hornets will give the Lakers a good game. I would like to see the Lakers win, BUT! They would have to make a 360% turn from what they have been doing in the last few games. Bynum has to learn to stay out of foul trouble and Luke has to go back to the bench and start Rad or Ariza. If they start Luke the Lakers will lose. |

this game will be tough!! really tough!! specially hornets got C.P3 and we're on the road... i guess we really should put radma back in the starting line-up.. 'cause since walton replace radma in the starting 5 things change for bynum. and radma can spread the defence he's shooting 3's well this season...
i'll predict lakers wth the "W" but its a really close game....

I'm a little confused about the 360% turn. Does that mean go around three full times and stop 60% of the way around again. Or do you mean 360 degrees, because if the Lakers do a 360, that will put them back where they were to begin with. I'm hoping for a 180 degree turn because I don't like what I'm seeing right now. |

| The game will depend on which CP3 shows up tonight. The passer, the scorer, or the complete A game player! If he scores more than 30 then the Lakers will lose. That is my prediction. |

I agree with Spank on this one. Paul didn't turn it up until late in the second half against the Lakers last time these two teams met, and he managed to trim the considerable halftime lead down to single digits, giving the Hornets a chance to win that game. The Lakers held on to win anyway, but Chris Paul was a non-factor until late in the game. If Paul sticks it to the soft, lazy, slow Lakers Defense early, expect a double digit half-time deficit for the Lakeshow and I doubt the #2 team in the west will choke it away in the second half like the Grizzlies. |

wait, who is the 1st team in the west. The lakers aren't the best team in the NBA, no doubt, as they are behind the celtics and the cavs. But who else besides the lakers is there in the west? |

Ha, the Dr. told him that the baby won't be born within the next 3 hours.
No wonder why he looks so happy right now, he's having a baby, well not him but his wife is. |

| I'd like to see Ariza get some defense in on Paul tonight, just to see how he plays him. |

Coach Byron Scott said Stojakovic (back) has not been ruled out of Tuesday's game against the Lakers, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
This is what Yahoo! Fantasy had, but I guess he's out. |
