Thing is I think the winning will follow Kobe if he leaves. We need big time players to compete in the West. I don't think the Ding's, Gordons, Hinrich's of the world gets us in the top 6 in the West.

no, they wont get us anywhere. like u said, they couldnt even get past the second round in the east. we would be the new indiana pacers team of the 80's where they won 35 to 40 games every year. not good enough to get a top pick but not making the playoffs either.

That would be ugly. I believe any trade for Kobe would turn out to be a disaster. The Busses dropped the ball with there 08/09 plan. If you can put forward the effort to win now, but pass up on that to load up in 08/09 is stupid. To many things can happen between now and then, as we are experiencing now.

yeah, i would definitely forget about any long term plan and plan on winning now.

If they don't, they won't be winning for a long time if Kobe is gone. They will have to pick up a lot of long term contracts if they plan on getting close to equal value for Kobe. That would mean there long term plan would be blown out of the window. Unless they will give him up for a bunch of expiring contracts so they can to after a bunch of big names after next season. If they do this, I would drink the purple cool aid and put myself into a comma until the Busses sell the team.

At least for the next ten years because we will be in the toilet for that period of time if Jerry lets Jimmy take over.
