yeah i had to stop reading that one halfway through because i was so freakin' disgusted with this. this guy doesn't know what he's talkin about...if u put LeBron's Cavs in the West, they would either be the 8th seed or not make the playoffs at all. That 48 pt. performance was great and all and I praise LeBron for the effort, but we've seen this before. LeBron dominated an overrated and aging Pistons team along with two 41-41 teams in the 1st and 2nd rounds. WOW! I don't believe LeBron has proven himself yet and i believe that he will silence this critic when he proves that he can constantly make clutch and game winning shots and make his free throws in the final 5 minutes of a game. But I do know that LeBron is going to run into a wall in the Finals and the Spurs are gonna win it in 5. If LeBron does win, then maybe i'll shut up.

I think you guys need to read between the lines,...Wether the CAVS are in the east or not,..winning is winning,...I strongly support our lakers,..but the article has to do more with the fact the Lebron INSPIRED his to team to over achieve,.....or are you guys going to say that the reason the CAVS are in the finals is because of their coaching advantage,,..think abour it,..what had drew gooden, Z, and d. marshall ever achieve,..before LBJ,......Let"s remeber we are Laker FANS above all,...and while KOBE is here know,..like many other players that come and go,...I root for the lakers,...not the KOBES,.

MJ,....MJ more than anybody can relate to KOBE,...the thing we forget about those bulls teams is that they had years to get used to each other and thearrongance, and demanding nature of Jordan,...The thing about the lakers is just as the role players were finding the niches within the offense or the team we get hit by injuries,....that is why blowing up the team like some yahoos suggest is wrong,..while in the short term we would field a better looking team, the would need to get used to KOBE,...I've ben privvy to many laker practices and KOBE is harsh,......!!! cruel!!! ,...

i give up. i'm not gonna try 2 understand why people hate kobe anymore. no matter what he does he will be dogged. he gets vilafied for EVERYTHING HE DOES. and the funny thing about it is people can't even make a good argument for WHY. leads the lakers in assist damn near every year but all i hear is "he's selfish". passes the ball in a game 7 to try to get his team envolved and all i hear is "he was pouting . he should have shot more." leads the leauge in scoring and carries a below .500 team to the playoffs, in the west, TWICE. all i hear is " d-wade, lebron, carmelo, ai,kg,bosh, ray allen, agent 0, and anybody else who may have some spectacular night once in a blue moon is better than him". shoots just as much if not less than all the guys i just mentioned and yet he is a ballhog and they're not. shaq and phil say that kobe didn't run them out of la. HELL. PHIL EVEN CAME BACK. yet all i hear is "kobe asked 4 this." the front office lied to him and everyone else about what was really going, kobe takes the fall 4 it and keeps quiet the entire time, then FINALLY says something, (which is what every 1 has wanted KG to do for a couple years now???? guess its ok 4 everyone esle but not kobe.) but all i hear is "kobe is being a whining baby". WOW. I GIVE UP. U HATERS JUST DON'T GET IT. and i'm starting to think u never will. oh and p.s........................nobody had a problem with it when iverson did the same complaining a few months ago and got traded to denver. like i said. i guess everyone else can do it. but not kobe. funny how the world of sports works. lol

The thing is (I've been as big a KOBE fan as is out their) have you ever aside from AI,..out all the other players you just mentiones non of them play in BIG markets, that's the nature of living in LA, everyhting in LA is emulated by the rest of the nation. KOBE is under the ligths 24/7 365. and that is why the post the inquirer the sun sell billions of dollars about retarded celebs partying getting drunk picking up their dog crap,...it' not that true sports fans hate KOBE ,..think about it's the media that point weak minded people with reatrded stories,..and people eat them up all day.

Well, maybe I can help you guys out.
First off, Kobe was the NBA's darling child way before Lebron & D-Wade.
But what sent it all tumbling down can be said in one word.....COLORADO.
Now the situation with the girl not only pushed him away from women of color, but women in general. But as for his male fans, cheating has been seen before in entertainment so it was pretty much no big deal. So the male fans remained. But what made them all fall off can be said in one word....SNITCH.
Kobe's words to authorities killed any chance of redeeming himself from the Colorado situation. I mean from Jordan to Magic to Worthy to Shaq. Most NBA players cheat on their wives, but Kobe is the only dude in the league to be known for being a Snitch. Plain and simple. That killed any chance of him getting any type of street cred he may have had, which is why nba fans and media will try to discredit anything Kobe does and always will. And like it or not, this recent episode with the lakers wont help the perception of him any. Let's just say Colorado was the worst thing that could ever happen to him.

I unfortunately will have to agree with you 100%. The Colorado situation destroyed Kobe's public persona which was already taking a hit with the situation between him and Shaq. I remember during the trial is when he began to get booed in every arena. But after the Snitching thing was reported it was taken to another level. I remember Phil Jackson talking about some of the crazy things happening to Kobe in New York when they went to play the Knicks that required extra security. That to this day makes me worry about Kobe's safety. I even remember the day I head the report about the police and was like DAMN KOBE! You really in some deep ish now. Because as far as the streets are concerned, there's no turning back after that.
I honestly feel the only way for him to get anywhere near that level he once was in is to win. He HAS to get another championship or two for the perception of him to change. Remember the media forgot all about MJ's infedelity and gambling because he kept on winning and putting on a show. That's just what Kobe has to to...and I think he will.

ESPN had a discussion about how players seem to have so much more power now than they used to, but hey, is that such a bad thing?

Actually I don't even know anymore. I would've said it's better that Kobe has a little bit of bargaining power, except that I'm sure it terrifies some of his teammates, who get scared when Kobe drops the ball to them. -_- But seriously, c'mon, these guys are supposed to be professional basketball players. Sigh.

As far as Kobe and the media, let's look at the facts. People who don't watch basketball have heard of Kobe's rape trial. If they're in LA, they were present during the Laker three-peat, and couldn't have avoided the soap opera that is "Kobe and Shaq." As far as they're concerned, he's a cocky rapist who doesn't get along with Shaq, who was a media friendly guy who starred in kiddy movies like KAZAAM! Hah. Who'd like that? What's an 81 point game mean when there's KAZAAM!?

And unfortunately that's the reality of it all. My pops lives in Houston and doesn't have cable. So he doens't know about all the 50 and 60 point games unless I tell him. What he does know about is the beef with Shaq, the rape situation, and the snitching situation. Which is what he'll base his opinion on. Sad but true. Like I said, the only way to change that is to start another dynasty.

Like it or not everybody cares to some level what kind of mark they make in this world. It's what they call a "Legacy." Kobe screwed up his irreperably with Colorado. I think the media and this freaking world don't know how to let up on a person after they fall down though.

Where is the second chances in life. Everybody screws up. As far as we know, Kobe had an extramarital affair. This country says innocent until proven guilty. The whole world has decided that he was guilty until proven innocent. They also thought he screwed the lakers up in 04, they were certainly wrong about that once the evidence spilled.

Here's the deal. If his wife forgives him . . . why can't the Kobe haters. Then you ask yourself, what about the poor girl who was forced to have sex with him. I'd say please, yah right, but I need to be fair minded or else this post makes no sense. It's just such a double standard for women who can simply call the cops and lie about being sexually abused and no longer have to provide the burden of proof. Ala the Duke tragedy. All this to say the sanctity and protetection of women is so important and shouldn't be overlooked. I'm just talking about the justice system and the preconceived thoughts of everybody who judges prematurely.

Kobe deserves a second chance and he has been a model citizen and professional player for most of his life. I agree that he can be tempermental but that's where he also gets his drive and he can't turn that off.

If he leaves I will be so frustrated. It's almost like he gave up on the true fans who supported him like no other sports star was ever supported.

Great post at the beginning by greatone24. Couldn't have said it better.
