Alright. Thanks to a new member at LTB, I was able to find this rumor. The site's in Spanish. So, I tried to translate it fast. So, I might have some mistakes:
Quote:
Jorge Garbajosa has the doors open for a second adventure in the NBA. He would enter the best League in the world going through the red carpet, like the one in Hollywood. Precisely, the team closest to the Mecca of the cinema is the one that more has shown the most interest in him. The daily MARCA informs that the Lakers (of his friend Pau Gasol) has made him an offer.
José Luis Martínez and Nacho Duque publishes that Garbajosa would have to negotiate his contract as a free agent. Jorge would be the spare part of Lamar Odom or Radmanovic, surrounded in rumors of crossings. San Antonio also has shown great interest by him.

Original in Spanish:
Quote:

I would like to have Jorge play for us. He is a passionate and head player who has a high basketball IQ. However, we will have an influx at the SF position. I say the odd men out will have to be Radmanovic or Walton.

This newspaper have a large amount of mistakes in their notices. They are used to write the first thing that came into their head.

HOLY CRAP! Has anyone watched that video that Opt posted? That reminds me of what happened to Shaun Livingston, except it was Jorge's ankle. YIKES! The dudes ankle is at an angle that is perpendicular to his leg....

In the video he looks more like a PF, with a twisted dislocated ankle. I assume this has all healed since then. With Turiaf gone would he back up Pau at PF. If he is a SF, we currently have 4, Odom, Walton, Ariza, and Vladrad. Why would we need a 5th.

Power forward mainly, but can play small. He would fit in very well with the high-octane second unit. (Assuming the second unit still has Farmar and Vujacic to start the season)

I don't know anything about this player - but if he is a backup pf and that is what we will need if Ronny for sure goes - then I would trust Mitch's judgment that he is a valuable asset. It wouldn't hurt for team chem. if he is a pal of Pau's.

Another softy eh.. just what we need.
yeah exactly. just another softy pf who cant bang and stands behind the three point line. not to mention, one that has a loose ankle for that matter. if this rumor is somehow true, i would hope that we dont use any of our mle to sign him. if we use our bae, i might be able to live with this signing. |

Sure he likes to shoot threes, but he not one to shy away from contact. He's not a banger, but he's a tough dude. And he takes smart shots. All in all, he'd be the perfect replacement for Ronny. He's good at setting picks, he can rebound, he can pass. He can't block shots too well, but that's offset by his ability to shoot the longball. If we can sign him for cheap, then we're in a good position. |

Yea do not compare him to Vlad rad or players like that at all. He has a little Rad in him but also a little Turiaf. He could play Pf or SF in our system and he will hit the boards if he is told to and he is an underrated defender

Living in Canada, my official 'NBATV' channel is the 'Raptors NBA TV' so I know quite a bit about Jorge. Before his injury he was a very valuable asset to the Raptors team, and even as a rookie (similar to Luis Scola) he was getting significant time. Depending on the size of the offer, I see nothing wrong with bringing him onto the Lakers. Plus bringing another buddy of Gasol's wouldn't hurt.
