The San Antonio Spurs have re-signed Kurt Thomas, keeping the veteran forward after trading for him in February.
Terms of the deal announced Tuesday were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-9 Thomas averaged 4.5 points and 4.9 rebounds for the Spurs in 28 games, playing an average of 18.7 minutes. Thomas appeared in all 17 playoff games, averaging 4.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in 15.8 minutes.
Thomas, who will begin his 14th season with his sixth team, was acquired in a deal that sent Brent Barry and Francisco Elson to Seattle.
Thomas has also played for Miami, Dallas, New York and Phoenix. In 817 career games, he has averaged 9.7 points and 7.4 rebounds in 27.3 minutes.

Yep. They do. Since it was a resigning they didn't use their exceptions. It's the same situation if we were to resign Sash. |

| Wasn't really excited about having Thomas on the team anyway. He didn't do much for San Antonio. SA just got caught up with all the trades happening in the west. They felt like they had to do something. |

Yeah, I was basically responding to Tempy. He was saying how they hadn't made a move for anyone. |

I still don't see why we have to make any moves. Just resign Sasha and maybe pick up a pf backup like Radliffe and we're good. Even without that we are in the best shape in the NBA.
Thomas is a nice addition to any team, but I am not going to sweat over a mid-thirties player with a big contract just to play some backup. Teams are the best with a nice tight rotation - we have a big rotation as it is with guys that can play multiple spots - example:
Pau - Power Forward/Center
Lamar - Small Forward/Power Forward
Kobe - Shooting Guard, Point Guard, Small Forward
Ariza - Small Forward, Shooting Guard
Sasha - Shooting Guard, (some) point guard
Vlad Rad - Small Forward, Power Forward
So I don' see any panic at all. |

Kurt Thomas is garbage. No loss for us.
We just haveta sign Sasha, wait for Kobe to get his pinkie fixed, rework Bynum into the lineup and anniahilate the competition.
We don't need no stinkin' Thomas. |

The guy has career averages of 10 and 7. Definitely not "garbage" for a backup.
Kobe with a "fixed" finger, Sasha Vujacic, or Andrew Bynum won't be able to play backup power forward. |
