Honestly, the Lakers need a wing defender aside from Kobe and that's why I was hoping for Artest. You can't be the main focal point on offense and then have to defend the best offensive player from the opposing team all the time and expect to be fresh. The Lakers were fortunate to come across an injured Ginobli in the WCF, he could have caused more issues if healthy sort of like Pierce did in the finals. I'm not saying we need another star at that spot but at least someone who can defend and knock down open shots. If Ariza develops a jumper then cool, but we really need a good defender at the 3 who can knowck down a shot or the Lakers are in trouble. Penetration by players can get our bigs in foul trouble which hampers our offense, what's the use of having a healthy Bynum if he gets in foul trouble trying to help out easy penetration?
If Sasha does leave then the Lakers are in trouble because he's a competent back up who can knock down shots and seemed to get better. 2.6 million is sort of a slap in the face, I hope they are at least working on getting a contract into the 3.5 million range to 4. If he leaves who ends up being the backup 2? As it stands now we're looking at a 3 guard rotation of Fish, Farmar and Kobe, I'd prefer Sasha still be in the mix and he's not afraid to pull the big shot either. |

Now that Ronny's gone, I'm inclined to say "power forward". But the horrid glut in the small forward spot is just as problematic. We have a total of 4 SFs under contract. One of them is our starter (Lamar), the other is a solid bench player (Ariza), and two of them are lazy bums with bloated contracts (Luke and Vlad). The biggest problem with this is how PJ will be able to spread the minutes evenly between the 4 of them.
And no, we don't need another point guard. It would be nice to have a 3rd-stringer for insurance, but it's not something that we're dying for. |

With the re-signing of Vujacic, we know what we have in terms of what we had last year.
Fisher/Farmar
Bryant/Vujacic/Karl
Odom/Ariza/Walton/Radmanovic
Gasol/Odom?
Bynum/Mihm
It's obviously power forward. The Lakers don't have a backup 4. |

| triangle doesn't need a point guard, and the only other position where we don't have a truly fitting and dominant player is small forward... with that said we have talent at that position too... i am not worried at all we are gonna kick some boston a** next june... lakers defeat boston in five, winning game five by 35... revenge is coming |
