Quote:
Shawn Marion has been one of the more underrated players in the NBA for the past few years. His numbers and production have ranked up there with all the stars of the league.
Last season the Heat traded Shaq for Marion in a blockbuster deal, and after drafting Michael Beasley, Marion could be traded once again.
Riley wants to keep Marion so he can use his large expiring contract at seasons end, but Marion wants to go to a contender and sign a contract extension, and that is not with Miami.
The Heat have been drawing interests from the Lakers, Warriors, and Clippers.
The Lakers would be a nice fit for Marion. They need a defensive player, and Marion is one of the best. He can be able to run with Kobe and will be a nice asset to the triangle.
The Lakers would have been rumored to already offer Lamar Odom and Chris Mihm. I see this trade being fair for the Heat. In return they get Odom's large expiring contract and a solid center, in which they need, with Mihm.

I like this deal way more than the Artest one. I think losing all those games in Miami last year taught Marion how not fun it is to lose even if it means you are the number 2 option. And I think he realizes next year it is going to be the Wade and Beasley show. Also he gives us an even larger expiring contract and arguably a more versatile defender than Artest. He shoots the three well and can finish around the hoop with the best in the league. IMagine how good of a defensive and fast breaking line-up this would be.

Yeah. I'd rather do a Odom/Mihm for Marion trade than a Odom for Artest/Thomas trade. The Heat would probably play Odom at PF. |

| I do have to say, this deal would be much better for us. Marion is also a very good defender and good fit at SF. Plus, we don't have to get Kenny Thomas' horrible contract. |

Lakeshow, I like where you're goin with this, but that lineup is ridiculous.
Why start Sasha when we have Fish n Farmar n why the hell did you leave Pau out?
Fish
Kobe
Marion
Pau
Bynum
Ya. I like this better than Artest in Marion's spot, but I doubt this lineup wouls last more than a year. Marion knows he can get paid. Artest might not get the contract he feel s he's worth. Plus 1 on 1 I think Artest would beet Marion's a**. I'm undecided on the comparison only because w/ Artest we need to take Thomas. But then again with Marion we take a giant salary.
No matter what happens, if Bynum comes back healthy we are lookin at a roster that should be ranked #1 in the NBA. Odom, Artest or Marion as our 3rd/4th option is pretty damn scary. |

| I like Marion better than Artest... This is a hard choice. Marion can guard KG one night, CP3 the next, then T-Mac the next game. He's so versatile but Artest is just a hard-nosed player. I'll be extremely happy with either additions. |

I just read this post and if its a fast-breaking lineup why would you have Bynum in there? Pau should be in there... Shouldn't he? |

| I do like the idea of marion playing for the Lakers but do you guys think the Lakers will be willing to give him an extension? He already was on a strong contending team with the suns but he often complained to their front office for not giving him an extension for more money. I like this idea way better than having to take that contract of thomas from sacramento but hopefully this could work out in a way to keep shawn happy in los angeles. |

i still think Artest is better fit for us. marions too much like odom except he can shoot.. artest brings shooting and defense.. the only thing i dont like bout the artest trade is kenny thomas contract.. if we could include vlad and luke and they give us some one else or a pick or 2, id say ok.. but odom +mihm for marion seems like a more realistic trade..
time will tell, but i have a feeling odoms being traded |

You guys I didn't say that was my starting lineup, but my lineup for harassing defense and fast breaks. And I have Bynum instead of Pau cuz he can hold down the key much better, and he still runs the floor. Kobe Ariza Sasha and Marion are all ridiculous defenders, Marion Kobe and Sasha can shoot, and Kobe Marion and Ariza can dunk all over people. This lineup would harass players at every position and still run the offense very effectively. My starting line-up would no doubtedly be...
Fisher
Kobe
Marion
Pau
Bynum |

| It's a better deal, but not necessarily for a better player. Also, Marion is looking for an extension, how much do you think he is looking to make? Probably more than the Lakers can afford at this moment. |

| even if we don't give him an extension its 17.4 million to give to Bynum and also resign farmar and ariza with. You give marion a deal and say take it or leave it. |

| Marion has a real big contract. I believe it is around 16mil per year. He is a very good player and would be a very good trade for both. But the Heat would have to throw somebody else in the trade because the money does not match. If we were to trade Odom and Mihms. I believe Odom is around 15mil and Mihms at around 5mil. |
