posey is not getting the full mle he thinks he deserves from the C's? and is a little upset about Celtic talks with corey. Here is the rundown.

"Posey And The C's : The Celtics are denying that they made an offer to Corey Maggette, they are not denying contact with Maggette, who has already confirmed discussions with the Celtics. Why are the C's distancing themselves from Maggette? It did not sit well with James Posey, who was labeled the Celtics top off-season priority. The Celtics did make an offer to Posey that was far less than the full boat median exception he has been offered from other teams, leaving Posey feeling unwanted. Add the Maggette commentary and Posey wants to talk with other teams. Sources close to the situation content that James Posey would love to be a Laker and that the Lakers are willing to go the full exception to land him. The Hornets are also expressing interest as are the Cavaliers and Rockets, giving Posey a number of suitors who are offering longer-term deals. The Celtics still hold the best trump card of them all, the chance at another NBA championship, but Posey's camp has been pretty adamant that James wants and deserves a full exception deal, unless Boston comes off the stance of not offering that, Posey could be gone."

And also, some unwanted news im sure of Ron Artest.

"What Happened In Sactown? : Ron Artest's regrets are justified, and here is why. Artest was the subject of rampant trade rumors at the trade deadline, and ultimately was not traded. After the deadline the Kings professed how valuable Ron was, and how much they wanted to keep him. Artest's camp believed that the Kings would sign him to a longer term extension at some point. The Kings said nothing either way on the subject and waited out Ron's opt-out decision. On July 1st, the Kings let Ron know that he was not in their long term plans, and that they would look into trades involving him. Ron was blown away, and insulted in how the Kings handled him. Part of that was his own fault, as people close to him were telling anyone who'd listen during the NBA Finals that Ron would love to be a Laker, looking for a "wink-nod" from them before his opt-out deadline. Ron's stance is had he known or been told that the Kings did not want him, he would have opted out and picked his own destination for 2008-2009. The Kings played this smart and will get something for Ron in trade. Ron will hit free agency next year, but may find himself in a less than desirable spot before then, as he's now an ending contract that won't be with the Kings very much longer."

I understand many of you dont want anymore posts of Ron artest, i just figured this way we can get it out of the way quickly, and move on with our lives. I apologize in advance, for any inconvenience.

On a side note, this information is from hoopsworld. Take it as you will.

Hey bro, that is actually an excellent post that you put up on here even down to the bold print of how it involves the Lakers on both topics. The only thing that bothered me on the Artest front was any little wish lits being thrown out there like trading Vlad and fillers for Artest like that is actually feasible.

Yeah, and the Artest deal is still VERY feasible, no matter what the fans say or want. This is especially true after what seems to be a baited move by the Maloofs to get something in return for Artest. Cheap as it may be, this is the NBA, where business is greater than basketball.

If Posey is upset at the FO, what better way to get back at them then to join the Lakers right. I'd welcome him with open arms, though I was cursing him out most of the Finals.

Just cuz' Artest might have said he wants to be a laker, doesn't mean that the Maloofs are gonna send him here. Lakers are probably the last team they want to send him to. On the other hand, I'd love to have Posey. He hustles his butt off, does all the dirty work, is good defensively, he is clutch, and he is a winner. He's better than Luke and Vlad combined. If I'm Mitch, I would be jumping on this right now. He brings the mental toughness that this team so lacks. I'd take him with no questions asked. Where do I sign??

    Fisher/ Farmar/ Sasha
    Kobe/ Sasha/ Posey
    Odom/Artest/Posey
    Gasol/ Turiaf Odom
    Bynum/ Diop/ Mihm

But then I woke up Sad

While I do agree that the chances are slim to none, anything is possible. And by no means did I mean to resurrect any speculation that the lakers had a chance of trading for Ron Artest, I was more so posting the information because I thought it would be a good read, looking into the mind of the character we all know by the name of Ron Artest. And an interesting character he is. Much speculation will go into this story as we venture closer to the trade deadline. Its going to be an interesting story, however and whenever it ends.

They'll need Odom's cap space for when they move to Vegas.
If they trade Artest, it will only be to the Lakers.

And James Posey will be a Laker if they give him the max deal.

so you are saying lamar's expiring contract is that valuable to the kings, they would trade artest to the lakers? Would they not be able to find someone to trade with whom is not a rival team, or would it not matter, if they do infact move to Las Vegas? Just trying to figure out what you're saying because i dont know if that is enough leverage to land artest.

    also an update.

As of yesterday the Celtics’ only offer had been made to one of their own - Posey, whose value as a two-time NBA champion has caught the eyes of contending teams across the league. The market for Posey continued to grow yesterday, a day after the Celtics opened free agency with their offer to the valuable swingman. The Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers all have made contact with Posey’s agent, Mark Bartlestein.

All parties are looking into Posey’s request of a mid-level contract that starts at approximately $5.8 million per season and carries four or five years. The contract, which stands to become the richest and longest of Posey’s career, could pay him as much as $30 million for the next five years.

Detroit, which had been thought to be interested, has no immediate plans to spend its entire mid-level exception on one player, though it might jump into the Posey sweepstakes if talks drag on.
Houston, also thought to be a player for Posey - who spent a half-season with the Rockets in 2003 - currently is locked in a struggle to sign one of its own free agents, second-year forward Carl Landry.
Bartlestein said Tuesday that the Celtics’ offer on the first day of free agency fell short of his client’s hopes.

The Celts probably are balking at the 31-year-old Posey’s desired contract length.

He would be 36 at the end of a five-year deal, which also would take him beyond the existing contracts of Paul Pierce [stats] (three more years), Kevin Garnett (four) and Ray Allen (two).

“James would love to get something done,” Bartlestein said. “It just hasn’t happened yet.”

Posey is a journeyman SF. He had a good finals but is not always that impressive. I wouldn't blow our entire MLE on him. Maggette, I think would be worth the entire MLE. I would much rather have Maggette starting for us than Vlad.

I agree that maggette is obviously the better player over vlad, and who wouldnt want maggette, but how do we rid ourselves of vlad. If only we could send him to the D-League to burn up some years, that would be a sight to see. HaHa. But in this instance, sure maggette would be nice, but if its between an offensive player and a defensive player, gotta go with posey, if only for his defence.

Why would Vlad be starting? Fisher, Kobe, Odom, Gasol, Bynum.

Thats true. I was thinking the way it was this season without Bynum. I think Maggette becomes a must have if we end up losing Sasha because Maggette could switch over and back up Kobe in addition to playing SF. If we manage to keep Sasha and Ronny then maybe a defensive role player might be all we need.

I like Posey more than Maggette. Posey hustles and is a defender that actually gets in a player's head. Maggette is an offensive player. I think we have enough offense. Posey might not be as talented as Maggette, but he is a better fit for the Lakers.

Call me crazy, but I still like Sasha out of the three of them. He's the best shooter and playes pesky defense. My best case scenario is to keep Sasha and also sign Posey. I don't want Maggette.
