And you were the GM, who would be the only player/players you would trade him for.
Only people i would trade him for would be
Lebron + pick
Chris Paul + others
Just want to see everyones choices.
This is just a fun thread,

| Lol. LeBron PLUS pick? You can't get LeBron for Kobe straight up, let alone with a pick. |

| Guys, Kobe Bryant is a few months away from being THIRTY years old. His value isn't THAT high. Williams (A top 3 PG, who is in his early 20's) AND McGrady (a star) is WAY too much to expect for Kobe. |

| Well, as much as I do not like to think about it, Kobe has perhaps 4 or 5 top level years left, injuries permitting. We should probably milk at least another couple of good years out of him, and then think of what we can get to improve the squad for the future. So, right now, would not deal him. In a few years who knows what will be available. |

Lakers Lands: McGrady, Scola, Battier.

| Trade Kobe for the Orlando Magic roster and season tickets to the San Diego Chargers, because I will have lost interest in basketball if that happened. |

Players I would trade him straight up:
James, Howard, Wade, Paul, Williams, Duncan. That's probably it. |

D-Wade all day!
He scores in the high twenties while putting up 7 assists.
And I think he fits better into a system. He can dominate the game without dominating the ball or his teammates.

those aren't doable scenarios....
kobe for Dwade, kobe for Howard, Kobe for lebron james....
if the lakers were going to trade kobe bryant, I see them doing it for a couple of good young role players + a player with a lesser star status...
for example: Kobe and fillers for Tmac, Shane Battier and Scola is doable scenario, kobe for Josh Howard(young scorer)+Brandon Bass(tough inside player)+Barea(young PG) is a doable scenario.
those are some example.... |

| Duncan no! Two years of waning physical skills is about all he has left as seen in this years playoffs. |

this years playoff, he completely owned the boards against the lakers, so he may has a little more left in the tank..... |

Yes, but it is easy to get rebounds against our under the basket midgets, and even these midgets as badly as they rebounded were able to get him to shoot very poorly when he should have been able to dominate. Even Gasol defended well against him. In any case, yes, he has a little more left in the tank as I indicated, but is now on the downside of his years, and his skills are visibly waning - two more good years is about it.
So the question becomes trade Kobe straight up (about maybe 5 good years left) for Duncan (with about two good years left). Looks like a goofy trade to our disadvantage. |

remember, he got no help from teammates(Tony Parner not included), Duncan works in a inside to outside offense, he post up, he draws a double team and kick it out, he needs his teammates to make the open jump shot.
game 3 was the only game where the spurs were making 3s and we got completely pounded and killed..... |

I would trade NO-ONE for Kobe. First - how long did Jordan play for? These guys that are as tough and durable as MJ, Kobe etc and keep themselves in great physical health can play until 35 - 36 easy.
What we need to do is what was happening in the playoffs. Not expect Kobe to score 40 points per night and not have to drive it in the lane and get hammered on every possession. This will prolong his career and keep him fresh for many seasons to come.
That is why it would be nice to sign Sasha and see his game get to an even higher level - which I think he can. Then Kobe can rest more. With Bynum coming back perhaps Kobe could rest more knowing that the guys on the court and hold the score down until his return and maybe add to it. |

Michael Jordan played 15 season's TOTAL.
Larry Bird played 13
Wilt Chamberland played 14
Dominiqe Wilkins played 15
Michael Finley played 13 (and is on his way out the door)
Clyde Drexler played 15
Jerry West played 14
Oscar Robinson played 14
Walt Frazier played 13
Ron Harper played 15
George Gervin played 14
James Worthy played 12
Isaiah Thomas played 13
(These are just a handful of players who were at one point considered a scorer.)
Kobe's going into his 13 season...
Maybe this will put things into better perspective for you guys who keep thinking the idea of trading Kobe is beyond comprehension. |
