An excerpt from an article in Hoopsworld by Eric Pincus. From an interview at the LV Summer League. Ronny watched the first half of the Warriors game and then skipped to go see the Lakers game, talk with fans and sign autographs.
"It's not the money. That's not what's important," said Turiaf. "There are relationships, teammates . . ."
Admitting it was difficult to say goodbye to his team of three years, Turiaf acknowledged playing for the Warriors at their offer was something he couldn't pass up.
"It's a great opportunity to enjoy myself a little bit more," said Turiaf, who had taken in the first half of the ongoing Warriors/Toronto Raptors game but skipped out to see the second half of the Lakers/Denver Nuggets contest.
While sitting in the stands, Turiaf took time to take pictures and sign autographs. The Warriors expect to have press conference next week to officially welcome their new acquisitions including former Clipper Corey Maggette.
It's difficult to gauge how successful the Warriors will be this coming season without star point guard Baron Davis but in Turiaf they're getting an energetic, glue guy who can do a lot more than just dance on the sidelines after every made basket.
Turiaf has been a fan favorite since coming back from open heart surgery before his rookie season. He admitted he'll miss their support.
"Stuff happens," he said with a touch of regret. "Tell them Ronny said 'Stuff happens.'" |

true. professional sports is a career and profession after all. but i sometimes wish that the professional athletes will focus more on enjoying in playing the game rather than the money. anyways, good luck to ronny. |

Dude you just decribed Ronny Turiaf!
lol
He did not go to the GSW for the money. It was just a bonus.
He knew that once Andrew came back, he would not much playing time.
THEREFORE, he went to GSW who desperately need C's/PF's |

you got to admit though that money was a major part in his decision. i've always loved ronny. im just saddened by the way he parted with the lakers. thats all. |

| Of course money was the x-factor. He was making less than one million here in L.A and GS offered 4 times the money. He now can be a multi-millionaire. I love Ronny and I will continue to even though he's on a different team. |

Don't take this the wrong way, but you just hit the nail on the head. The Lakers probably thought 17mill was too much to pay for a joker/dancer. I love Ronny, but if it were me, and someone offered me 4 times my salary, I'd be off in a shot. Good luck to Ronny. |

| oh man.. ronny was most definitely one of my favorite players, not only for his energy but for his actual skills, he was a more than decent interior defender and a great running big men to trail the fastbreak, he was great and i'll definitely miss him. i always thought he would be a laker forever, i mean this was his home after the heart surgery i just can't see him going away,, hopefully hes like d-fish and comes back later.. i so wish, hope for that.. |
