Im tired of everyone saying dont make trades because it will ruin are chemistry.... when we got pau we almost went 40 and 10 and would have been better if pau didnt get hurt... chemistry is a bunch of bull the media likes to hype. you just need a team that likes playing together and every body knows there roll and doesnt complain. chemistry is made when when its not just work and you hang out and do things other than basketball... dont get me wrong you do need to know your teamates habbits and nueances on the court but being close as a unit is what chemistry really is and th only way you can effect that is the guy u traded for has a bad attitude and is standoff ish stuff like that but if everyone is cool and friends or at least close they are more likely to make the pass or shoot or whatever with no hesitation.....

Have you ever played basketball on a team that plays together every day?

    You feed off your chemistry.

Notice we won 3 rings in a row and then started having bad chemistry... then started loosing.

What do you think chemistry is? It is EXACTLY what you said: the team likes playing together, each player knows their role, and knows each person's strengths and weaknesses, tendencies and capabilities... that is TEAM CHEMISTRY.

Lbushnell: The Lakers had bad chemistry during the rings era, but they were just so talented that it didn't matter.

4morerings: People mean don't blow up the team, because that will effect chemistry. Single trades don't usually disrupt chemistry as evidenced by the Ariza and Gasol trades.

also look what happened with our payton and malone experiment, payton had problems because he never learned the triangle, fish got mad because he was bumped to the bench (which is probably why he left to Golden State in the first place), kobe and shaq were still going at it. then in the nba finals kobe shot too many shots and ended up with a FG percentage in the 30s because he wanted to save the team without shaq, while shaq shot in the the high 50 percentile. we lost in 5.

"You just need a team that likes playing together and every body knows there roll and doesnt complain. " - That is team chemistry. When Pau Gasol got traded to the Lakers, he fit right in. He had high basketball IQ and had great chemistry with the Lakers from the get go. So you already contradicted yourself from the get go.

    - As you can see, the Celtics had great team chemistry. Their team defense was AMAZING.
    - Chicago Bulls only won their championships after they finally glued together as ONE. The years when MJ did not trust his team mates and did not have great team chemistry was when they did not win.
    - If it was NOT about team chemistry like you're saying and it was more about talent, the Lakers should have beat Detroit several years back in the finals.
If it was not about team chemistry, the Houston Rockets would never have won 22 in a row with Yao Ming out.
If it was not about team chemistry, a young team like the Trail Blazers would also not have went on a winning streak.

When you blow up a team, you are risking blowing up team chemistry. But I imagine scouts and GMs try to anallyze if the player they are attempting to pursue is compatible with the team.

Its different with the Lakers because the Lakers don't run pick and rolls, flexes or whatever plays. They run the triangle, and that takes time to master. Ask any Laker if they have mastered it overnight. Don't believe me? Ask Gary Payton or Space Cadet himself, Vladimar Radmonivic.

Ask any championship winner. Ask any wise basketball player thats been there. Ask one thing you need in every championship team, and they will tell you, team chemistry.

If it was not about team chemistry, USA should have won gold.

4rings: Well, you can have your opinion. You can think that team chemistry is overrated, if you like. But also take this into consideration: EVERY TEAM THAT HAS EVER WON A CHAMPIONSHIP HAD TEAM CHEMISTRY.

U just do not know HOW basketball is played!

Chemistry overrules talent most of the time! Pau fitted in so well cause he wanted to fit in with his teamates and not take every shot like he did in memphis when he was the go to guy!.........

Then kid, tell me why the lakers did so well in the beginning of the season with bynum and no gasol!
we added only fish and ariza..........

Fish only re enforced the team chemistry last season!!!!!!!!1

i can tell that u dont play ball that much cause a true basketball player will tell u that if you go 5 on 5 with a team that has been playing together for years will beat a team that is more talented but lack the chemistry in a basketball court

Wow.... People these days. Learn what chemistry is then talk. TC is one of the biggest factors. Look at the Knicks, they have the best team on paper but no chemistry, it really messes a team up.

no what im saying is everyone who says; oh if we lose odum and turriaff and ariza players like that it will ruin the team chemistry i don't think it is that fragile and i do know what how basketball is played i played high school and some community collage ball and i know it is important but what i am saying is that adding artest or arenas.. or who ever, is going to kill the chemistry i just don't think it is that fragile
i mean some people are saying that getting rid of m benga will hurt team chemistry....Not really but stuff like that it was just bugging me

what does it matter? They are not gonna make any changes this summer. I know the offseason is when everyone gets all excited, starts talking about changes on the roster. Watch everyone get disappointed. Artest ain't coming here, Arenas ain't coming here. They are gonna resign Sasha, and Ronny(at the right price). And they might use the MLE to sign a veteran player, maybe someone like Kurt Thomas, or Posey(even tho I think he is staying with the Cs). I'm not trying to sound like I know it all, but that is the truth, and everyone should know it.

You realise you just defined team chemistry in your origional post?!?!?!?!?! Still, team chemistry is one of the most crucial parts of the team. If the players don't get along then the team will not succeed.
