lol, sadly, he's probably good enough to be our 2nd option right away. we can knock on him as much as we want, but in the end, dude's still a major baller.
if this artest thing doesn't go down, i'm really looking to get that prince+mcdyess trade. i love both these players to death and i think they'd fill up a lot of holes, not to mention they play a pretty physical game and can hopefully bring that toughness to our squad. |

L- If the Kings have 2 expiring contracts after next season with Artest and Moore and they want to cut money why do they need to trade with the Lakers for Odom? The Kings could let Moore and artest walk after next season. Everyone was saying they want Odom because his contract is up,well the guys they would be giving us are in the same position. They dont need to deal Artest and Moore for Odom in order to cut the money. Thats why cyclone put K Thomas in the mix,his contract is NOT up.
So the lakers would have to take a bad contract like Thomas not an expiring contract like Moore's,it would make no sense for the Kings otherwise.
Only other way is if the Kings really really like Odom and actually want to resign after next season for pretty big money at least. Dont be so sure the Kings want Odom...AT ALL!!!!!!!! If the Lakers would try and get rid of Odom why would the Kings want him so bad? Laker fans do this all the time, they cant stand a player but they think other teams will love him. I dont see the Kings having a love affair with Odom just like Minny wanted nothing to do with him in the KG talks...and the Pacers did not want Odom straight up for JO either. If Odom's value is low with the lakers it cant be high with the Kings. Two teams involved in trades not just one.
If artest really wants to be a Laker then he can opt out and play on the Lakers for less money but Artest has always been about himself and I dont think that will change anytime soon. |

| leave the man alone hes a good player, if he gets in trouble, let him get in trouble, we dont have time to sit here and predict the future or think of what artest will do next. you guys are bagging on him for wanting money... what human being on this planet wont take more money to be happy, i havent seen one player not go for the money and stay with the team.... . lets face it teams are gonna get better with the draft picks coming in and new coaches coming in, it will just get more difficult for the lakers and the kings. we cant sit back and be satisfied with the run we had this year and i dont think mitch will either, we have an opportunity to move up in the draft, and we also have an opportunity to sign some players who would love to play for the lakers .... dOnt forget we have to let someone go in order to make room for bynum and let me tell you, the celtics cant compete with the lakers when the lakers have bynum and gasol... so the future is bright for the lAKERS . |

A lot of people have been preaching this trade. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a FANTASTIC idea. But do you honestly see Dumars making this deal? That man's never been about cap space, he's been about winning and winning NOW. That deal doesn't make the Pistons any better.... it probably makes them quite a bit worse actually. |

| Listening to that interview it sounded like he liked the idea of joining the Lakers but he can't say that he wants to join the Lakers while still under contract with the kings. I don't think that's allowed so I like our chances of landing Artest. I'm getting giddy alreasy for next season!!!! |

Quote:
Artest followed up our Tuesday interview with an e-mail Thursday in which he said: "Even if I was to opt out, which probably won't happen, I will never accept a mid-level exception. So people trying to figure out possibilities should get that out of their heads."
Translation: Artest is strongly against opting out largely because he knows that the Lakers (and any other interested party) likely would offer him a free-agent contract starting at no higher than the mid-level, which was $5.4 million this season. He'd rather play next season at $7.4 million for Sacramento or whomever -- knowing that the Kings are virtually certain to get various trade offers if he elects to play out the final year of his contract -- then see what kind of deal he can command on the 2009 free-agent market.
"Next summer can be a bigger [free-agent] summer for me if the Kings win big," Artest said, "which is … anything else is a failure."

Artest is poison to every team he has been on (ALREADY 3 teams and he is only 2 . He is all about the money - translation - no MLE. He takes a lot of ill advised shots - translation - career 42% shooter and 32% behind the arc which is close to Lamar's average behind the arc. He is a good defender when he shows up but he is a head case so you are never sure what you are going to get. There are tons of solid, tough minded players to pick from. Don't go down this path. I am thrilled Mitch has more sense than this. |

| What a shock..I cant believe fans actually thought Artest would sign with the Lakers for less money just to be on a winning team. Never had a chance. I guess we have to move on to the next unrealistic move. Everyone that thought Artest was really opting out and listened to that silly radio interview have egg on their face now. It was NEVER going to happen that way. |

| Artest will always be about himself. Let that cancer stay with the queens and win 40 games this year. We can win without him. |

| Michael Jordan also said he would retire... three times. Just because somebody says they won't do it, when push comes to shove then they start thinking a bit different. |

i knkow wat u mean bro...but we will be over the cap by a lot if we have artest, odomsssssss huge contract and kobe, pau, and bynums big extension!
luke has to go and same with vlade.....
if we are getting artest for opting out..........
roster should look like this
Fisher
Kobe
Artest
Gasol
Bynum
Farmar
Sasha
?
Odom
Turiaf
SEE, we need to give out ODOM for artest...a sign and trade.....
but im nervous about it...artest has history......hope kobe can contain him and same with phil....
but i think this will be the best senerio for us
odom has been awesome to us and the good thing about trading him to the kings is that he doesnt have to leave CALI...he will just move up NORTH..........
my line up
Fisher
Kobe
Artest
Gasol(but bigger, I expect Gasol to actually put on some weight...remember, he was playing for a crappy team and i think he didnt want to train that hard in the last ofseason because his team sucked anyways)
Bynum
Farmar
Sasha(I was going to make a trade with Bruce Bowen, but I know Sasha can Mature into a great role player soon.He just needs to get bigger and stronger. )
Ariza
Turiaf
?(get some C that can defend for Luke and Vlade)
Kobe and Phil can contain him. Phil was able to handle the WORM, and Artest loves Kobe, he's one of his favorite players.
Kobe should give him a call and try convince him to come. Kobe didnt do it to KG (even though McFail wouldnt let it work anyway) but it would show that Kobe does want Artest here and that gives reason for someone to want to join another team.
Play with ur favorite player that wants you to be there? Whatelse should u ask? |
