The game is essentially over, but y'know, there's a sense of anticipation in the air. We may not have taken it all the way this year, but we went on a hell of a run this year. We've brought this team and franchise back to contention, and considering the way this season began, that's more than any Laker fan could've asked for.

    So...

Thanks Farmar, for showing us flashes of a great starting PG.

Thanks Fisher, for coming to LA and "not fouling" Brent Barry. Very Happy

Thanks Sasha, for being the "Machine".

Thanks Ronny, for your fun loving personality.

Thanks Vlad, for those 3s you sometimes make.

Thanks Luke, for assisting in this great play.
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=78X2K8_KDFY

Thanks Ariza, we hope you like it in LA; your Grant Hill poster remains on our computer desktops.

Thanks Bynum, for changing the flow of this entire season. Rest that knee, and we'll see you next year.

Thanks Lamar, for your play in the Utah series. You're still the most stylish Laker.

Thanks Pau, for arriving in LA, and reviving the great Laker nation.

Thanks Kobe, for staying in LA, and staying Kobe. This team's gonna get you that title. Just keep at it.

Thanks for the memories, Lakers of 07-08.
    We got it next year.

I can certainly say that not that many of us expected to be in the Finals THIS year. What a great surprise. For that, we should feel grateful to have made it this far...........

    Next season, baby.....

I'm just glad we were the ones that came out on top in the toughest Western Conference I've seen to date.

Yeah, we made it to the Finals and had a shot at taking it all, but, as much as I hate to say it, we had to go through the best team in the league. This season was fun though after going through the past 3-4 tough years.

Boy, it'd be a great college graduation present next June if we win it all. I'd go completely nuts.

What up all Laker fans out there. Tonight every Laker fan was stabbed in the heart because of this tough and heartbreaking to our all time rival, Celtics. I just hated watching us lose to them. They had absolutely no class what so ever. Jumping up and down after winning the championship and yelling, Beat LA, Beat LA, with Kobe standing next to them to congratulate them on the win. Also, Kevin Garnett fouls Lamar Odom hard late in the game and does even think about helping him up. Instead he sticks his tongue out infront of Odom's face. But it's alright, let them do that, let them enjoy this championship, while it lasts.

I just want to say and thank every Laker out there for just sticking up for each other and helping and never giving up on each other. They made what was impossible 10 months ago, to something all Laker fans will believe in the next 5 or so years. We just fell short. This was great experience for us and hopefully this will make us hungrier and better and mentally tougher than before. So, lets not be depressed for this tough loss, I know we were there, but we just fell short. Let's keep believe and continue were we left off and finish off next season with more wins, more experience, more toughness, and more leadership from every single member on the team. I love this squad I hope everyone is healthy in the beginning of training camp. Let's make another run to the Finals. We will meet the Celtics there and take our 15th Championship. I am even more hyped up now and can't wait till late October.

    LET'S GO LAKERS!!!

What a helluva ride, alright... From being labeled as another mediocre playoff team (some had even touted us as a lottery team from the start of the season!), to coming out on top of the toughest conference in recent memory, to dethroning the previous NBA Champs, to coming as close as two wins away from winning the championship... I'd say we've achieved FAR beyond expectation.

Once we regroup, toughen up, and bring back Drew in the mix, next year will be our year! GO LAKERS!!

Man, this loss was bad enough as it is, but when I saw our team slowly walking off the floor with their heads hanging low, that really got me all choked up, knowing that that was it, our season is done.

I'm not one to get teary-eyed after any losses, but this one did it for me. The blowout loss plus watching our team walk off the floor deflated was literally just heart-breaking.

you bring up great points pinoy. maybe we did overachieve expectations. but the way we lost tonite is not the way to go out. we beat the defending champion spurs in 5 only to lose by 40 in an elimination game. i hate to say it but i didnt see any heart or pride out there. as of now, i say the celts should be heavily favored to repeat barring any injuries.

look people, i for one dont think the bostons will repeat as champions next year. when he get bynum back, have gasol playing at his regular PF position, we will be much better. i dont know whats gonna happen to odom over the summer, but only thing id like to see happen is artest coming over to the lakers. With Bynum back, double teaming Kobe will be a big mistake. we will be dominate next year, we will win it all next year, we will the ones that will be repeating as Champions

For what it's worth, it was a hell of a ride that lasted longer than I expected, and so for that, I thank the Lakers from top to bottom.

From "Do something...and DO IT NOW!" to "The Lakers have acquired Pau Gasol for a couple of tennis shoes and some picks" to Game 5 at least, it was fun and exceeded expectations even for a team with such high hopes.

Next year is our year fellas!

    Mixed emotions.

Yes, my 25-1 bet on the Lakers is now in the dumpster. But, I had a helluya shot with it.

We detroned the old Champos, the Spurs, but somehow lost our fire along the way.

It was a helluva fun ride, coming up a couple of games short. Too bad we lost the 24 point lead game and refball game, number 2. I just wish, if we had to lose, to make a game of it.

Well, here's to next year and a Cahmpionship. Ya know, we sure came pretty close this year!

Mixed emotions is an understatement. No thanks for the memory of this just-concluded series. It is comforting to know that our team is at least back in the hunt for the title, even though I always feel that any year not concluding with the Lakers winning the Title, is essentially a waste of time. Most of us older Laker fans are tougher than this version of the Laker team - we play to win the Championship, and make no bones about it we need to get better and get back where we should be - on the podium with the Trophy hoisted up over our heads!

thanks for putting things back in perspective, people.

after all is said and done, this was an over-achieving season, and people seem to forget about that. (especially the fair-weather fans.) many people talked about how pau fell into our laps, but what about KG and ray ray in boston at the beginning of the season?

i saw an "LA fan" being interviewed right after the game and he said the season was "disappointing." screw that.

it was miraculous how we even finished on top of crazy western conference.

see you next season, with hopefully bynum with a better knee, kobe with a better finger and phil with a better back.

I'm just glad that the fans here appreciate what we've been able to accomplish so far.

It's just easy to take this loss in strides because I think a lot of us feel that next year is our year, but to be honest, we've got a lot of work to do.

This Boston squad isn't going to be much older next year, so let's raise our team's standard of play and show them that we won't be so easily defeated next year.

Before we get rid of all the players and get Artest (or whoever) and say Kobe is a punk and not a leader or whatever lets look at some facts.

    1. They did make it to Game 6 of the NBA Finals, so LA is on the doorstep. I would rather be two games from a title then wondering who I will take in the draft lottery.

    2. Remember no Bynum and the Lakers were killed in the middle by KG, Perkins, Powe, and PJ Brown. Bynum would have allowed for more balance. Before you say it I am not making excuses, because we still got a beatdown last night and 5 Bynum's could not have prevented that game. Just stating facts.

    3. Remember this squad could have imploded after KB's tirade last summer (by the way KB did not say anything that anyone diagreed with at all). KB must have done something right to get the team where there ended the season.

    4. There are 28 other teams that wish they were LA last night.

    5. This was what the 2nd or 3rd youngest team in the NBA or at least a VERY young team and they made it this far.

    6. Note LA never played with their full roster all season and still made it to the Finals. I remember most people thought Utah or SA would give them a smackdown.

    7. LA Lakers the 2009 NBA Champions

So you see do not look at LA in a vacumm. They got smoked last night, but you have to look at the body of work. They were still tops in the West and will be for some time forward as the current big boys PHX, SA, DAL, and I'll thrown in GS and DEN are on the down slope.

Great season with a disappointing finish only because they did not get 2 more wins. I may not be happy, but I am encouraged for the next several seasons. GO LAKERS!!!
