Luke can handle the ball well, but his offense has disappeared. Then they set him up to make the threes and the percentage of him making them is very low. But then again he might break out of the slump and might surprise us in game six. Maybe he will bury four threes to break the game wide open.
I have seen him before hit the threes with consistancy, but I would rather have Fisher, Rad or Sasha set up for the three point shot.
I think Luke still has four more years with the Laker contract. |

| With Ariza, Vlad, and Odom playing the 3 next year there is no reason for luke to stay. Get rid of him and get a rugged older big man who likes to bang. Someone PJ Brown like. Maybe Kurt Thomas. |

| If there was a way to ship both Luke and Vlad for an athletic big man (Channing Frye) or a shooting big man (Troy Murphy), I'd do in a split-second. |

Remember, at one time Luke was leading the league in three point percentage? Whatever happened to that guy? Kobe dishes off to him, he is alone and he misses. Game in and game out.
Let's hope the magic returns to his shot for just two games.
Still I would start Ariza. He can D-up Pierce -- cos the key to winning this series is stopping Pierce.
Most of you hyper-criticalites on this site have quietly forgotten that:
1. For most of the games, Gasol has stopped KG and actually outplayed him.
2. Sasha took his fame in game three and is probably getting laid a little too much. He has to get back to being "The Machine" or he will lose that moniker quickly.
3. If the refs were not playing point guard for the Celts in game two, we would be up 3-2 even with the horrible meltdown in game four.
4. All you naysayers keep saying the Celts are the better team. Better? Every game could have gone either way. And they got those two reffed vitories in the first two games.
5. It is time for Kobe to play 46 minutes, like the old iron man he usually is. We cannot afford to take him out. If Pierce can move his fat a** around for 48 minutes, the leaner, stronger Kobe should be able to do the same.
6. We can surely use one of our old-fashioned blow outs in game 6. It can be done. KG looks tired and there are times we look totally unbeatable. A blow out will unnerve those guys -- just like we crumbled in game seven against the Suns when we led 3-1.
As Kobe said, I like our chances.
Lakers in seven. And then Vegas, baby, Vegas! |

Of course he should go. I guess PJ is still playing him to showcase all of his basketball "skills", unfortunately, that isn't working as now his market value is probably that we might be able to trade him straight up for a "Mars" bar, but only if we also paid for the "Mars" bar! Since the only basketball skill that putatively this guy has is his "basketball IQ", then why not make him an assistant coach?
Worse than him is my personal pet peeve player - Unradmanovic - they can't dump this no-defense one-trick pony fast enough for me. |

The more I watch Luke and Radman, the more I appreciate how well we've done and how far we've made it. I don't think there is another team in the leage that could make it this far with their starting SF and the first SF off the bench (most nights) giving it so little. You've gotta think (hopefully a little more quietly then last summer) that Kobe and Phil have a chat with Mitch about getting these two out of LA for a solid defender/3 pt shooter. Unfortunately, because of their ridiculous contracts, I just don't think it can happen, unless there is a lowly team out there wanted some veteran help. but are they in turn going to have the type of player we are seeking??
Also, I don't know if the key is stopping Pierce completely as someone mentioned above. I am thinking we need to take the same approach as other teams take with Kobe (which is kinda what happened last night) Let Pierce get his, but just make sure the other 4 don't get off. If Pierce scores 40, but we can hold KG and Ray to under 20 each, we have a good shot - as long as someone like Powe or House or Posey don't get hot. And while Pierce is a gifted offensive player, the one thing he doesn't do very well is create for others, which could cause some frustrations among their team. |

| Oh luke has done something. He's gotten totally, torched, destroyed and made a fool of by Paul Pierce. Not that Paul isn't on fire at the moment but at least provide some type of resistance Luke, Vlade, ANYONE... |

Nobody has being able to stop Pierce. But he is a very smart player and gets the ref's to support his theatrics. He will drive right into a defender and then fall backwards or does something to get the ref's attention so that they will call the foul. He lives on the free throw line and has kept the Celtics in contention because of those moves. I believe that the Lakers might try using somebody as an enforcer like they used to have years back. Remember Lucas! Maybe we can get Turiaf to give Pierce a good shot to make him think twice before he drives that often. Even if it costs us a foul, it will definitely make a person think when you are knocked down hard.
The Lakers have to do something with this guy, because he single handed has beat every defender the Lakers have put on him. |

The only one on our team that can handle Pierce defensively is Bryant. PJ wisely only rarely has him rotate on to Pierce - even Bryant would get tired out if he had to defend him the whole game, but then so would Pierce if he had to take Bryant on, and this is why he doesn't. We just don't have enough good clamp-down defenders on this team. Bryant is, when he wants to do it, Ariza in form is, but he is not in form. We need at least one more tough defender and my hope is that they decide to throw Radmanovic on the slag heap and find one to start at small forward.
Anybody for cloning Michael Cooper and sticking him on Pierce?
And yes, I do remember Lucas. Another guy that could do it at times was Mychal Thompson - but only when he decided he wanted to play the game tough. |

Who would want to pay Luke for five more years?
The only way he goes is if we make some sort of lopsided deal, like Odom and Luke for LaFrentz and Martell Webster. Hell, I don't even know if Portland would take that. |
