No Luke necessary. Sign and trade Marion for the 14 million range so we can do it straight up. I think Riley would be very willing and I would LOVE to see it. A clutch performer, great defender, and can shoot the 3 ball. It will hard to pay Bynum, but it's still worth pursuing.

Marion has shown signs he's already slowing down. Once he loses his jump, he's no good.

Marion is barely one year older than Odom. So if there were any possibility in obtaining him, i would do it in a heartbeat.

If the Lakers could pull that off, it would be another coup de'ta! With Marion in the line-up teams (like Boston) would not be able to focus all of their energy on stopping Kobe because there will be another prolific ball handler, rebounder, and scorer on the floor. If we could dump Walton in the process, that would be gravy! Including Walton could free up some money and enable us to resign Sasha and Bynum. Marion would be a perfect fit! PLUS, he averages the same amount of rebounds as Odom from the true Small Forward position! And the most interesting thing is....I think Miami is interested in Odom!

    1ST TEAM
    FISH
    KOBE
    MARION
    GASOL
    BYNUM

    2ND TEAM
    FARMAR
    SASHA
    ARIZA
    VLAD
    TURIAF

    Wow!

Fixed. Battier would be amazing to have. He can hit the 3, one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and seems like he's a great guy to have in the locker room. Plus imagine how much better Kobe would get playing with him, going up against that defence every practice, and Battier can probably teach Kobe a few things on D too.

Battier would be AMAZING. I didn't even think about him. But how would we get him? And please no one say "Luke or Radman for Battier straight up!". It might take something like Farmar and Luke for him. Battier would have had Pierce locked down, and supposedly there's not a nicer guy in the NBA.

Rockets don't need anymore Point guards, so Farmar wouldn't cut it. As much as I hate to say this because I don't want to fuel the Lamar stuff. Lamar would be a player Houston would probably like to have and Shane Battier would fit in with the starters well.

    Fish
    Kobe
    Shane
    Gasol
    Bynum

Odom makes 14 million and Battier is due for only 6 next year. We would have to take on a terrible contract (Bobby Jackson?), and that would make it impossible to give Bynum the money he deserves.

Guys, I don't know how many teams would be willing to take Odom after his showing so far in the post season...

Odom's value was great coming in to the playoffs. But now his main asset is that expiring 14.1 million dollars.

Any teams looking to do another "fire sale"?

This may be somewhat of a reach, but it looks to be as if Detroit might start rebuilding... possibility?

If we are looking to deal Odom, we are doing it for a reason. That is to get a shooter. Marion can shoot the 3 but we need a automatic shooter, someone like Michael Redd or Mike Miller.

I thought we were looking for a hard-nosed defender...

I agree with plygrndrlr, we need a guy who could've guarded Pierce and knock down the 3 as well.

Battier fills that, but Marion brings many other skills to the table as well.

We have Ariza for that. Don't forget Kobe. If Jackson played Ariza more playing time, I guarantee you we would be tied 2-2.

Nor Redd or Miller is the answer. How can that be the answer if those two can't defend? If we get rid of Odom for either of the two that you mentioned, how would the Lakers lineup be? And do you honestly believe that it would help us with Boston?

I see what you propose only hurting the situation rather than helping.
