OK so the series is not officially over yet. However, barring a very possible game 5 win coupled with two Kobe 81 point games in Boston, this series is done.
And I'm not one to normally look ahead, but let me be a hypocrite of myself for a minute and make a prediction.
We better get used to these faces in the green jerseys.
Because I'd be willing to put good money that this series is a first of a 2-part series.
We are going to face the Celtics next year in a Finals rematch.
We are already forecasted for a '95-'96 Bulls-like regular season by many, and I don't see any reason for otherwise. We are still a step ahead of the future west powerhouses (Portland, Utah, NO, Seattle *yes they will be a power in a couple years*).
And in the east, I expect Boston to roll through the regular season and through the playoffs. They're nearest competitor, Detroit, is going to make a couple changes. That and Boston will have a year together under their belt.
So no particular reason for throwing this out there. Just kind of felt like it since I'm pretty pissed the season is essentially over.
We are going to have a rematch with these Celtics, and barring injuries leading up to the '09 Finals, the title is coming back here. And that is a very objective prediction. |

| I agree, this isn't going to be the first and only time we see Lakers vs Celtics in the finals... I think we will see these two go out in the finals for many years to come... |

Bwahaha. At least we can think about the future. I think a lot of us are trying to escape the present by looking ahead to greener pastures.
I don't know if the Odom/Gasol/Bynum frontline will work. Here's the starting and backup lineups I'd rather see:
fisher
kobe
radmanovic
gasol
bynum
farmar
sasha
ariza
odom
turiaf/mbenga/mihm
and walton can keep the bench warm. lol whatever, just PRETEND i put his name next to ariza.
but more realistically though, i expect phil to bring bynum off the bench, meaning:
fisher
kobe
vlad
odom
gasol
farmar
sasha
ariza/walton
turiaf/ariza
bynum
walton just sticks out like a sore thumb. ew.
if we attempt to play the odom/gasol/bynum frontline and it shows some success in the regular season, then:
fisher
kobe
odom
gasol
bynum
farmar
sasha
ariza/walton
radman
turiaf/mbenga
doing these lineups kinda made me feel better; it's nice knowing that we've got so much depth and potential. |

All the rumors that the front office isn't enamored with Odom is probably going to rear its head in the offseason.
But overall, what's been our biggest problem this series? The fact that our interior defense is weak. Bynum can single-handedly fix that. We are the favorites next year. But don't rule out Phoenix and SA just yet. |

Yeah, if we DO attempt some sort of trade, I hope it's after we test the waters with our squad at full strength. Just hope no opportunities slip through our fingers until then. |

I think Lakers can take care of the Suns easily with Bynum... |
