I know we're all pissed off right now. We have the right to be. Our team just achieved the award for the worst meltdown in NBA Finals history. Yeah we were up by 24, but we let that slip away. So we're down 3-1 in the Finals...but what does that really mean? It just means that we're down 3-1. That's just what it means.
We're down, but we're not out yet. I hope the Lakers don't get any sleep tonight because they don't deserve to be able to sleep. True, no team has ever come back to win the championship while down 3-1, but if the Celtics can make history tonight, I don't see why we can't.
This game is done and hopefully the Lakers learn their lesson and come back in Game 5. Put it this way guys, no other team in the NBA other than the Detroit Pistons have ever won three straight at home with this Finals format. It's only a shocking loss because we were up by 24.
I know when I was posting in the game day post, I was frustrated and pissed and I almost said "Lakers Suck," but I held back. Yes, they did suck, but they sucked for 2 quarters...2 VERY important quarters.
Until these Finals are over, I'm never going to give up until one team wins 4 games. Hey, if the Suns can come back and kill us after being down 3-1, it's time we had our fair share of impossible come backs. We paid our dues and this game was just the icing on the cake.
I'm not giving up yet and I know Kobe is not giving up yet. Odom & Gasol played well tonight until the meltdown. If the Celtics can say "Never say die," then I believe the Lakers can also do that.
If the Lakers fall in 5, well, it's over and we have a new season full of promises ahead. The Celtics gave it their all and they got the win, but they still need one win. The least we can do if we go down is to go down fighting like true warriors.
Either way, win or lose in the next game, the Lakers gave us a hell of a run and that's all we're going to have to accept. They exceeded our expectations already, lets see if a miracle can occur... |

Great post. Way to stay positive, I agree that it's not over yet, but it is going to take a miracle to win it all...

They definitely exceeded MY expectations for this season by making it all the way to the Finals. I knew that they could do it, but to make it past the best in the West and to become the best in the West this year was amazing.
Even IF we don't win it all this year, I'm still proud of the team because of how far they made it and what they went through to get to where they are now.
I'm just as pissed as everyone else and in my opinion, they should be ashamed of their lackluster performance in the second half tonight, but they shouldn't be ashamed of their accomplishments this season before tonight's game. |

Yeah, I was so mad, I almost lost a girlfriend... lol
But I have to hand it to the Celtics for winning this game. We can't blame the refs for this loss, we can't blame a "fake injury" either. The only thing that we can blame is our team. They fell apart in the second half. As good as the team played in the first half, we were equally as bad in the second. And you can't place all the blame on Kobe. We amassed a 24 point lead in the first half without Kobe scoring many points, we could have expected as much if not more in the second half. The celtics stepped up their defense and transition game, and the Lakers couldn't execute the offense in the second half.
The Celtics won because they deserved to win this game. Hands down, they came to play in the second half. And we all know, it isn't how the game starts, it's how the game ends that counts....
But don't take this as a white flag from me, we still have Sunday to turn things around... |

| Yea def a good mental mind frame, being only 21 and not remembering and getting to experience Magic and Showtime this is the most excited I have ever been about a Lakers team. I grew up in the Bay Area but thanks to my dad I was raised correctly. But this season has been more than any of us could have expected. And it was real real nice seeing Ariza play the way he did and make a 3 and a free throw. But next year it gonna be a whole different story. LAKESHOW 09 |

There's a big difference between Boston beating us fair and square for that 3-1 lead and surrendering the game and the series to the Celtics. If the former was the case, then the Lakers have a good reason to toughen up their resolve and go with the "We're down but we're not out" routine. Our players would be pushed to bring their A game the rest of the way. But if it's the latter, which it was, then it just proves that our team has no spine. We had a 24-lead cushion and we gave that away and gift-wrapped them the game and possibly the series. Our loss tonight was even worse than the Mavericks' meltdown last year. Teams who play like this DO NOT deserve the championship. Kobe, our league MVP, CHOKED when the game was on the line.
This is not our year. And if we somehow win three straight and win the title, I'll still look back to this game and think to myself: "They didn't earn this". |

| Lets point out 2 major reasons why the lakers lose tonight. One is team basketball Kobe we love you but honestly you got caught up into the matchup competition with Pierce and the one thing he did that hurt us real bad was settling for jumpshots not forcing jumpshots but settling. Also why wasnt Fisher in the game and Vlad because I remember a the previous game when Boston made a run Phil put in the lineup that closed the game today which made it easier for Kobe.it still shocks me how Fisher was sitting for so long |

good optimism but we're done dude. we arent capable of beating this celtic team 3 straight. lets hope we can stay healthy next season and upgrade at the three position and with bynum being healthy, next season should be our year. |

How? I know my wife has never seen me even close to being this upset before. She can't stand the Lakers, but when Boston came back, she did not even utter a peep because she knew I was ready to kick the television in. |

| What next ? Win Sunday, then win the next game, then game 7. That's all we can do. We didn't deserve to win tonite. Bottom line. If I know Kobe and Phil, they will have something instore for Boston on father's day. Look, not any of us expected us to be here. Even before Pau got here w/Bynum we were contenders in the West for #1. This will be a GREAT learning experience for us. But I'm not writing us off yet, we take it back to Boston, anything can happen. |

We choked and right now Boston deserves the title...
I don't think it was Kobe's fault as much as PJ leaving him out there to keep posting up Pierce. I don't understand why we did that... Lamar Odom had Posey on him and he got the ball in the post twice, I think. I just don't understand why PJ didn't call a time out to tell the team to stop posting up Kobe. The Celtics stopped double teaming him and just left the big body PP on him... Just weird.
And it was really strange because PJ really coached the hell out of the first half. There was a moment when Eddie House came in and Kobe was still playing him like he was Rondo. Eddie took a wide open three (missed) and PJ immediately called a time-out, switching Fisher on Eddie and putting kobe on Pierce. I just don't understand why we didn't do the same thing once it became obvious that posting Kobe was slowing our offense and getting us out of rhythm. |

| it's weird for me, because i'm always super competitive and i hate losing. i have the biggest headache on the planet right now. i was so mad at our team for crumbling under pressure and more so shocked to see kobe fall apart in the 4th. then it hit me...they just defensively dominated us and deserved to win. i'm not even angry or anything right now. i guess watching this game has opened my eyes to the point to where i see that if we can blow a 24 pt lead and then get dominated in that kind of a manner...then we don't deserve the title this year. the celtics just had our number this year that's all, we'll be back. |

Don't bother pinning this on PJ. The entire team is responsible, from PJ to Kobe all the way down to the end of the bench. We, to put it as simply as possible, CHOKED. I'm giving the Celtics hella credit; they stared us down face-to-face in our own home court and we blinked. |
