well, we now have the matchup that the entire country wanted to see. as happy and excited as i am for our lakers, i cant help but to have a small sick feeling in my stomach. i really hate the celtics. my hatred for them goes all the way back to the 80's when they beat us in 7 games back in the 84 finals to the 85 finals when we lost game 1 148 to 114 at the garden which is known as the memorial day massacre.
i am a little worried because they pretty much handed our heads to us during the regular season with bynum in the lineup. make no mistake about it, i know we are a different team now that has played superbly in the playoffs but this celtic team is going to be by far the best team we will play during this postseason. i hope our bench comes thru for us on the road and lamar and gasol better be ready and come out strong in the first 2 games or we will go down 0-2. like phil said, no sissy shots. take it strong to the hoop and draw some fouls. we cant let kobe try and do this by himself or he will end up having his games where he scores 40 on 15-40 shooting.
we also cant allow rondo and perkins to play like all stars. perkins was a monster against us during the regular season scoring 20 points and rebounding like charles oakley. this is where turiaf can help us. if ronny wants to be a laker next season, now is the time to prove it or we may have to look elsewhere for a decent backup center/pf next season. farmar and fisher need to come out ready to stop rondo from penetrating and dishing. im really hoping that ariza is healthy enough to give us 10-15 minutes a night because other than kobe, he is really our other decent perimeter defender that can guard pierce. just stick sasha on allen and hopefully he doesnt get into foul trouble.
lets hope for the best guys. im happy, excited, and a little scared at the same time. lets prevent this evil empire from winning their 17th championship and lets win number 15 for chick. its finals time guys. as posters, lets come out like our lakers ready and determined and keep these game threads clean and whether we win or lose, lets not blame the refs. if we are truly the better team. we will have number 15. |

| good post nicky, and I know what your saying about the sick feeling in your stomach, lol, but I feel that the lakers are a better overall team in the postseason ( at least so far) if you look at the postseason so far, the celtics have not been to great, they have gone to 2 game 7's and 1 game 6, the have been a very poor road team( besides the fact that they beat detroit) . but yeah I COMPLETELY AGREE with you about being excited and happy but scared at the same time, but that is what is exciting about having your team in the finals, all i have to say is LETS GO LAKERS>>>LETS GO |

| I've been having trouble sleeping the past few days because of the anticipation of this series. Game 1 i'll be bringing a tv in the office (behind my boss's back coz she's not much of a hoops fan) so that i can watch it. Yeah go lakers!!!! |

I feel like a kid in a candy store. I can't wait for tomorrow. Going to get me some pizza and beer and just go nuts.
The fondest memories for me were the times we beat the Celtics.
Magic's baby hook with time running out was one of the greatest shots I have ever seen and I am expecting great things from Kobe.
Boston will make this a great series.

| Thank god Thursday is already here. I couldn't wait any longer. I'm going to go absolutely crazy! And for some reason, I even had a dream the other night that we won by 13 points lol. |

Well, its game day.. We are back in the finals and this is sure to be a crazy series.. I really think the lakers can get it done and tonight will be very telling. This day will drag on for me until tip off time but I am more excited about a game then I have ever been! After being a Laker fan for more than 30 years, I think this is probably the least anticipated but most gratifying season I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Wow... What a season and what a way to conclude it.. LA vs Boston, finals game one tonight! Bring on the FINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go lakers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Nicky,
Very good post. I am in agreement with everything you said. I found your remarks about Ronny dead on. He gets alot of love from fans, but he has been a weak rebounder for the most part and if he can't develope that part of his game the Lakers will indeed need to start thinking of parting ways with him and finding someone who can hit the boards with more energy and consistancy.
I have been thinking of this series all week and can't believe it all starts tonight. Winning this first game would be huge on so many levels. This day is dragging!!!!! |

It's on gentlemen!
We'll win this game if it stays close. I just hope we don't fall behind like we did to the spurs on a few occasions. The c's are much better defensive team. |

| I'm also worried on how some of our guys will perform. It's been a long wait and until we see game one, we have no idea. I don't doubt the Lakers but the the nerves could be getting the best of me. But one thing came to mind. If I'm worried about how some of our guys will handle the big stage, I can't imagine how diehard Celtic's fans feel. Not only do they worry about most of their players and coaching but they are also terrified knowing we have a guy named Kobe Bryant. Glad I'm a Lakers fan. |

WE just need to play in our offense and when the game is on the line give the ball to kobe...
lets keep this game close and let our offense and defense decide the game....
bboston is struggling on offense in the post season, so the key to beat them is to excecute the offense and that is kobe driving in and kick it out to open guys when they all collapse on him....
WE need to take out their hearts in this game one and let them think that they are not supost to be with us on the floor ..........
All I want is the Lakers trying there best, thats all..
go out there and play laker basketball |

This is very exciting indeed! I remember reading and posting since the pre-season and through this whole year it has been some ride with my beloved Lakers, but here we are THE FINALS!!!!
I'm not as concerned as many of the posters are. I think the toughest team we faced during the playoffs was definitely Utah. I have to agree here with Charles Barkley that whoever won the L.A. vs Utah series would win the Finals. So this Boston team doesn't concern me as much as Utah or even the Spurs.
The advantage they (Boston) has is that they have homecourt - so that is why winning this first game is the most important game. We win today - we win the series. And I think the Lakers will. It may even be double digits. I've been watching Boston during this playoff season and they're offense seems - in a word - stinky. Sorry for the childlike analysis, but that is what comes first to mind. Their defense has not been that great either.
So don't worry fellas' - it will be tough - but not that tough. Go Lakers! |

| We can't get down by 20 like we did against the spurs. Everyone is talking about how young we are and that there are many more to come, but we need to play like this is our last shot at a ring (like boston, they are only getting older).... I think my nerves are getting to me, I'm confident in our squad but we don't have home court and the whistles have been sketchy lately. |

We're younger, but we have more experience. Our coach is no stranger to the Finals, and our starting backcourt has won 3 rings each. We're not like most young teams where their best player is an up and coming player. We have established veterans that have won as our leaders. I don't think youth will effect us. |
