I wanted to thank the following for a great Lakers` season:
Mitch Kupchak – If Mitch didn’t still believe in his choices and this team we would not be where we are today. A lot of GM’s may have hit the panic button with Kobe’s hands around their throat demanding changes. He brought in Ariza with a shrewd trade and dropping dead weight like Brian Cook and an okay player in Maurice Evans. Ariza is a really good defender and an athletic swingman which is what the team needed besides just Kobe. Really don’t have to say much about the Gasol trade, it’s showing up on the W/L column.
Jerry Buss – To a degree he didn’t push the panic button and he was willing to take the luxury tax hit in order for the team to land Gasol and ultimately keep Bryant in LA where he belongs chasing titles.
Kobe Bryant – We may have never been at this point if Bryant did not say anything. I may not totally agree with the way it was done, but the team did improve after all of the drama, and boy did it ever. I know it’s not all with Bryant, some of the young guys improved on their own, namely Big Drew, Farmar and the Machine.
Kevin” Herman Munster” McHale – Thank You for being such great Buddies with Danny Ainge and turning down the Lakers offer for Big Drew and Lamar. The Lakers never had a chance, especially since the Celts and Wolves discussed trades for KG for 4 years prior to it finally being looked at positively by KG and him saying yes. We would have done great with KG in the lineup, but then our future would have been shortened. Plus seeing KG hit his head and yell at himself all the time would have grown old.
Larry Bird – Thank you for apparently taking calls from McHale and Ainge telling you not to help the Lakers unless you can screw the Lakers over. I guess you thought playing the Lakers panic card for accepting nothing less than Lamar and Big Drew for a 29 year old forward with 52 year old knees was going to work in your favor. Looks like your stupidity drove Donnie Walsh to the Knicks and you get to keep JO who will probably always have knee issues and will only be able to play every other week.
Orlando Magic – Thank you for accepting Brian Cook, thank you so much. You have no idea how happy I was to see Brian go. Honestly one single tear of joy came from my left eye, slid down the crevice of my nose and hung on my top lip, I didn't wipe it off. That tear was a reminder of the years of torment that Cook brought to Lakers fans.
Memphis Grizzlies – A big thank you to you for giving us a talented forward for two useless draft picks and a talented PG who is potentially a star. You also accepted Kwame “hands of stone” Brown.
Once again thank you. You all made this possible.
If anyone else has any thank you words for anyone, post them. |

| Thank you LTB for giving me the chance to talk "Laker". Being in the Philippines LTB allowed me to be with fellow Laker fanatics. Oh and I am thankful as well for the thing Gem has mentioned. |

Ariza has not helped much this season, he got hurt right away. I disagree with you on how Kobe handled the situation to get some kind of improvement into the Laker team, that was just average at best. I also disagree that Jerry Buss didn't panic and traded Kobe to the Bulls. He would of traded Kobe if they had not signed a contract with Kobe with a veto power attached to the contract.
I do agree with the McHale, Ainge and Bird connection. They are Laker haters and there was NO Way McHale would trade Garnett to the Lakers.
And last but not least: Even though Cook, Brown and others were not the best players the Lakers had, they were still in the Laker family and I don't like to talk bad about them guys. |

Axle: What are you referring to when you're talking about Buss and the panic button? I'll clarify what I meant on that statement for you, if Buss pushed the panic button he could have traded Bynum for whatever deals there were out there to appease Kobe's championship aspirations. Buss has to sign off on any deal that's brought forth to him. He also could have told the GM to make a deal happen for Bynum, but instead they weren't willing to trade Bynum and now we know what we possibly have a potential allstar center.
I'll clarify the Ariza comment also. If you noticed, the main thing in that statement is that I was happy that Brian Cook is G-O-N-E!!!!! Brian Cook is one dimensional, he didn't fit into the triangle offensively, he couldn't play defense due to lack of athleticism and stone feet. He was taking minutes away from people on the bench who actually had a clue.
Can you do me a favor since I clarified two things for you? Can you clarify your statement of
"I disagree with you on how Kobe handled the situation to get some kind of improvement into the Laker team, that was just average at best". |
