Quote:
82Games.com: Or the NBA’s toughest defender, depending on how you see these things. But according to the always entertaining 82game.com, Derek Fisher just outflopped Milwaukee’s Andrew Bogut to take the league’s annual unofficial Vlade Divac Most Valuable Flopper award.
Fisher drew a league-leading 54 charges this year. Bogut drew 53. Third place went to Sacramento’s Mikki Moore, with 51, Memphis Kyle Lowry and Portland’s Joel Przybilla had 47, while Denver’s Allen Iverson chipped in with 46. Who says the Nuggets don’t play defense?
As it turns out though, Fisher was kind of lucky to win the award this year. Last year, Cleveland’s Anderson Varejao drew a ridiculous 99 offensive fouls. This year though, he missed about half the season due to a protracted contract holdout and injuries.
In 2005-06, Phoenix Raja Bell won the award by drawing 76 offensive fouls.

i'm glad that those stats ALSO show that the refs are more reluctant to call charges. those kill the momentum of the game.

Fisher is great at reading the offense of any opposing team. You can say he flops but I say he plays smart defense by taking charges. When you're 6'1 there aren't too many ways you can help out defensively.

Haha and don't forget he will also win the "player to get under the most people's skin" award hands down. |

Fisher is a pretty good flopper. Although, I think unlike some people like Ginobili and Raja Bell, he actually gets in the position for the charge more than him actually faking a fall. Vujacic is also very good at flopping and always seems to piss people off....

Drawing offensive fouls isnt always flopping. Fish takes a lot of offensive fouls and he exaggerates more than a few, but he doesnt fall down without being touched by guys like ginobli does and Dirk does and few other EUROS do.
