LA times reports tonight Kobe Bryant indeed will win his first MVP. Congradulations to King Kobe. It's long over due. Caught in Shaq's shadow during the three peat(what a joke Shaq didn't win it all three years)and saddled with poor teams after the big mans departure, Kobe was placed in the very unusual position the last three years of being the best player in basketball, but without enough success to force his detractors to give him what he deserved. Well, I'm sure his undeserved wait will make this taste so much sweeter, kind of like a man lost in the desert finally emerging and getting a nice cold cup of spring water. Here is the link for those who want to read about it:http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-kobe3-2008may03,0,6268282.story
Well, its the Jazz. Should be very interesting playing a team thats well coached, actually hustles and is not filled with dysfunctional stars. This series will be a nice incremental level up for us to gauge how we are positioned to compete for the title. I like the Lakers in no more than six. We just seem to playing too well offensively, the passing is incrediable and Kobe is just showing mad game. It will be nice to watch us play a live body though, not that corpse passing itself off as the Denver Nuggets. You have to love Jerry Sloan. What a great rebuilding job so soon after losing two of the greatest players at their positions(Stockton, Malone) in NBA history. I thought they would be done for years and years. If a year comes when we don't win it, I would definatly root for the old tough guy to get his.
Too bad for Houston fans, losing Ming and Rafer Alston. They will always wonder what if... We know how injuries can just kill a dream. It may still do it to us with Drew......lets hope not. The edge we have over Houston is Kobe and a very talented offensive big man in Pau to help us overcome our injuries.
I think all the other series are facinating. More so than in long time. Lots of young guns vs old sherriffs and of course we have the Lebrons vs the What Happened to The Celtics(i am assuming they will manage to win game seven at home over Atlanta).
Want to see how Dwight Howard does on the inside againt the suddenly fragile looking Pistons. Detroit will have its hands full with him and it will be interesting to see who and how many players they use to try slow him down.
Can Lebron pull his team over the Celts? If the Celts keep playing like they are now, wow. What a bummer to end a 66 win year in the second round. It would make my 2008 if that happened. You keep waiting for the Celts to wake up.....but you start to wonder.. The next series should tell us whether we get the regular season Celts or Red Auerbachs worst nightmare(besides losing to LA of course).
Can't wait to see the old lion Spurs against the very very cocky and confident New Orleans team. Paul has amazingly taken his place (in my opinion) as the third most impactful player in the league already, behind Kobe and Lebron as such an early time in his career. This team is no fragile and psychologically bruised Suns team. Paul will go at Parker...and Parker will go at Paul...and man should that be fun. I wonder if perhaps the Great Man, Tim Duncan will in the end decide the battle of the small point guards and tip the scales in their favor. If the Spurs waste them like they did Phoenix, wow were going to have to play like hell in the West finals.
Lets hope that Kobe can really turn this into a dream season, and like Magic and Jordan, stack up his MVP with a ring and get the organization its 15th title. |

I read it in the Las Vegas paper. It was in small print I barely saw it. I thought he got it and they were dissing him by writing a two paragraph piece. But, when I read further, I found out it was just speculation. I hope it's true because I don't want to be disappointed. (Me? What about Kobe?)
I like the way SPQR wrote this. Very nice. |

serious? he's already given the hornets a better record that any one of those players have, and he's putting up crazy numbers. with the way they define this generations MVP, he might win a couple.
wade... bosh... mvp!?!?
and how would you put williams over paul!? |
