I'm back! And it shall be another fun blog time as we try to foresee the future with our crystal balls. As some of you might know, I nailed the Lakers getting the West's top record with exactly 57 wins. Of course it would haave been a lot different if we had not lost to Portland, Memphis and Charlotte but hey, 57 wins and the Pacific title? Couldn't complain about that.

    http://lakers.topbuzz.com/PNphpBB2-view ... tml#159908

As the last day of the regular season was decided, the Lakers found themselves riding the best momentum of all top seeds. We have the bracket we want (what I wanted for LA) in perfect fashion. We get homecourt all over the West and we will have 2 ideal opponents in the 1st two rounds. While one could very well argue that the West is a crapshoot right now, here are my bold predictions:

    1 Lakers v 8 Nuggets - Lakers in 5.

The Nuggets are the best deal for the Lakers. A team that plays zero to none on defense is the ideal team to play with. We shall be scoring in the high 110s in EVERY game of this series (unless PJ wants Pau and Lamar to exclusively pound the rock) and a team that tries to outscore us is usually a team we beat and end up outscoring.

    4 Jazz v 5 Rockets - Jazz in 6.

Without Yao, the Rockets are a joke. Without Battier and Alston for the 1st few games, they are toast. I need not add more, they are finished.

    2 Hornies v 7 Mavs - Mavs in 7.

It gets interesting. The MAVS are seeded 7th because the Hornies (pun intended) won 5 more games. I think the Mavs lost more than 5 close games but generally, I think they are the better team. CP3 and the gang are great, but they will have to wait. You're looking at an "upset" here and you heard it from me first.

    3 SPuRs v 6 Suns - SPuRs in 7.

Is the best series in all of the NBA 1st round. I think this series has more drama than action and it will go down the wire. Phoenix has been playing rather slow as of late, fewer possessions because of Shaq and some better defense. But the SPuRs are the defending champs and they play defense. The Suns own them 3-1 in the regular season but we all know its winning time and that record is a mere remembrance of what could have been. I pick the SPuRs on this one, by unpopular demand.

    Second Round

Lakers-Jazz would be a handful. Deron Williams can kill us with the endless PNRs (pick and rolls) and Boozer is as solid a PF as can be. Add in AK47 and Mehmet Okur, the Jazz are a very young and solid team which the league fails to credit them for. Of course there's that ugly road record but then again, there's that league-leading homestand. Which team shows up? I think it will be interesting to watch but with Drew coming back and possibly Trevor as well, the Lakers are a very hard team to beat. Deep Deep Deep. Lakers in 6 or 7.

The "bracket of death" has the Spurs and Mavs on my book. While the popular and favorite would be Suns-Hornies, I think the vets got this one and a magnificent Texas showdown. I personally would want Dallas to win it so that the Lakers will have an "easier" path, but its hard to tell how the SPuRs will lose it. I will go safe here and predict the SPuRs to win in 7.

And so we got who we are asking for. I think the Suns would yield the most drama to face, but the Spurs are the real threat and obstacle to being the BEST in the WEST. And so it goes, and we shall have to beat the best for us to be the Best.

Bring it on, Bring on Boston !!

Great post Wareeen. My predictions are somewhat similar to yours except I don't have Spurs beating the Suns. It might happen but I'm not sure about it. Definitely another ideal post!

The Playoffs are about to begin and here we are.

I did accept bets for Washington to beat CLE, Phoenix to defeat SA (the odds are nice), and DAL to beat NOH. These are series odds.

Thats fine with me blackmamba, but I'm a fan of "underdogs" and the MAVS will get NOH.

I'm bringing this back. Aside from the Mavs, I kinda got everything - including Boston on a silver platter.
