Here is the latest news coming alledgedly from Lamar yesterday through his business partner. It might be a stretch for a source but it sure seems plausible:
"Bynum finally has gotten control over the knee swelling and He played one on one basketball and was very very dominant. He said that the Lakers are basically coddling their future franchise player and that they feel like they can handle the next two rounds without him so they are allowing him to get his conditioning back and be ready to contribute 100% in the WCF."
This is consistent with the report that Bynum is having less pain and Kareem discussing how anxious Bynum is to return but the Laker organization being extra extra cautious with their franchise player. |

| This is very wise of the Lakers if that quote is correct. Or a very good leak - kind of a counter intelligence. If we do get to the WCF - then a team will have to prepare with the added dimension that a healthy Bynum is waiting in the shadows - who is well conditioned and ready to go. True gamesmanship - if quote is correct. I hope it is. |

| I suspect he'll be back for WCF. The coaching staff is not going to take the Spurs lightly, if Bynum can be available they will use him. |

| I was just thinking that too, that he should just concentrate on healing his knee and preparing for the next season although i was hoping his knee did heal enough for him to play. |

RUMOR! Good News on Bynum.
Quote:
...Ill just RELAY WHAT WAS TOLD TO ME DONT SHOOT THE MESSENGER I WILL NOT WASTE MY TIME ARGUING TODAY!
Ive been in the music industry for years I currently have a deal with MTv to produce music for their Tv shows, I got a message from my manager who happened to be in the studio last night with one of Lamar Odoms artists he has more that just Ali Vegas for the last year we have been going back in forth for a while attempting to work together on some music. Well my manager who is a die hard Laker fans like myself and hes also a radio personality for 102.3 kjlh said that he asked if Bynum would be back this year to Lamar Odoms business partner who Lo's right hand man. He said Lamar told him "YESTERDAY" that BYnum finally has gotten control over the knee swelling and He played one on one basketball and was very very dominate. He said that the Lakers are basically coddling their future franchise player and that they feel like they can handle the next two rounds without him so they are allowing him to get his conditioning back and be ready to contribute 100% in the wcf. Im going to be getting alot of info from the Odom camo because our business deals with rich soil entertainment look to be very solid Im going to try to steal what info I can. HOPEFULLY THIS IS TRUE Theres no doubt in my mind that this info was given to my manager because we are friends and he wouldnt lie to me about this but I dont know if this info from LO'S partner is accurate we really dont know him that well. CROSS YOUR FINGERS
This is from another forum. |

| On another thread I talked about film I saw a week ago of AB on the hardwood, practicing post up moves with his back to the basket, then spinning and twisting left and right and then shooting. My take on that is that if his knee was not better they would have him doing some sort of drills that did not involve the twisting and turning of the knee. And then there was the report a couple of days ago about his practicing half court shots just for fun. This could back up the above story. We could be seeing a Laker smoke screen to keep teams guessing about when AB is going to come back. When he hits the floor he may be more than ready to go. And with no pre-announcement the opposing team will have no time to adjust. |

| This is big right here...this could change the fate of every team in the NBA...we don't know if we can beat Utah, San Antonio, New Orleans, Boston, etc without Bynum...but with Bynum, well, everybody better move out of the way and get the trophy ready for the Los Angeles Lakers...but you know what, I gotta see it to believe it... |

Some rumors are much more plausible than others. Here are the verifiable facts:
1) Bynum is still working out and rehabbing and is looking good with many of his moves. He has not been shut down.
2) Bynum reported recently having less pain
3) Bynum experienced some pain and swelling after working out and 2 different doctors agreed not to clear him for contact yet. That is the extent of the "setback".
4) Phil loves to be vague and play psychological games and most of the Bynum shut down for the season predictions comes from interpretations of PJ's vague mind game comments.
5) If you look or listen to interviews with the players, they all say they want Bynum to focus on getting 100% healthy and they want him back and need him back and the only surprise would be if he came back by the second round.
This most recent rumor is totally in line with the facts so I choose to believe it. The bottom line is that only God knows how long it will take for Bynum's body to heal to the point where he can play again but all indications are that Bynum playing in the WCF's is still a realistic goal at this point. |

| I think the reason why nobody is giving us a timetable for his return is because there is none. The return of AB hinges on us winning or losing. If we are on a roll (which we are), there is no need for us to bring him back...If we start losing (which i dont see happening), then we may see him come back. |
