Here's a great video of the young prospect Sun Yue at summer league with comments from Joel Myers.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=P1rua3zTM00& ... re=related
Now from what I see, this kid is going to be a PROBLEM!!
He has speed, footwork, and GREAT court vision, which is hard to come across in alot of todays point guards. And if you notice the last few seconds of the video, he gives opposing point guards fits on defense simply because of his size.
I think if you add a guy like this to the size we'll already have.....WOW!
Farmar better watch his back! This guy will be starting on some team within the next few seasons...Hopefully it'll be us!
Right now he's raw, but when he gets polished...Look Out!

I might be a little dilusional from the video's and wanting to get the season going already, but this kid looks like the future of Point Guards if you ask me.
I can't wait!

| Yeah, no summer league for Sun Yue this year because he is preparing to play for China in the Olympics. He could get an invite to the Lakers pre season camp. But to make the roster he has to take a spot away from one of 3 players. DJ Mbenga is expendable because Mihm in under contract for next season and supposedly healthy. Coby Karl may need some more seasoning in D league. Ira Newble spot may be open because Ariza is back. So there is a chance he could one of those spots. |

| That would be good if he could get a spot if we dump newble. He looks solid. |

| He has such a saucy game I can't wait to see him. My only worries are I've heard his jumper is Iffy and if he will be able to thrive in the triangle offense. We shall see That block at 6:46 is ridiculous gotta love players who play above the rim |

It's funny you say that, they have another video of Yue where he takes a jump shot and transforms into Lamar Odom, then back to Yue. They say they call him the Asian Odom...Or the Asian Magic Johnson. |

Lamar and johnson have similar games, big players with good ballhandling and sweet passing skill.....
the difference comes with the mentallity, thats the reason why Kwame Brown is Kwame Brown and Kevin Garnett is Kevin Garnett...... |

Quote:
Lakers have China’s Sun Yue on their radar
The Lakers have plenty on their to-do lists, one of them is signing their second-round draft pick from last year, Sun Yue of China.
But first things first. Like the Olympics.
Sun is a member of China’s National team and the Olympics are his first concern, given the location of the Games. Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak knows that and is willing to wait until the Beijing Gmaes are over, but intends to keep on eye on the 6-foot-9 guard.

I agree that sometimes videos can be deceiving. These are his highlights and hand picked of course. It would be nice to see him in an entire game.
That being said - he definitely has an upside. There just aren't a lot of 6'8" guards that can handle the ball and have great court vision. If this guy has the handles at that size - wow - he could be a handful with some seasoning.
He could also be a great answer to the constant problem of small fast point guards who penetrate at will on most teams because of the the no hand-check rules now in effect in the NBA.
A big - but still quick point guard with long arms like this kid could definitely play off the ball and force more fast point guards like Parker to take the outside shot. And with his length and quickness might be able to effect the outside shot with quick closes. That could be a killer to guys that want to drive the lane.
I like to think too about the monster lineup we could put on the floor if this kid is really as good as the videos have him to be. Imagine this lineup:
1) Sun Yue - point guard - 6'8"
2) Kobe Bryant - shooting guard - 6'7"
3) Lamar Odom - small forward - 6'10"
4) Pau Gasol - power forward - 7'0"
5) Andrew Bynum - center - 7'0"
That is a tall and athletic lineup of excellent passers. The blocks, the rebounds, the steals with getting hands on loss balls because of all those long lanky arms, the altered shots, the mismatches. I am getting very excited about the prospect. |

| That's the lineup I envision as well. The legnth and defense of that lineup would be unstoppable. Not to mention the speed. I think we'd definetely lead the league in points by far with all the fastbreak opportunities a squad like that would bring. |
